O.o, meaning need to wait?

I remember I can Straight away use it after converting lol...

Seems like really need to wait based on forums and reddit. Seems odd that previously I don't have this issue.

Guys, is ibkr down at the moment? Can't seem to login
*
QUOTE(TOS @ Jan 6 2023, 06:23 PM)
I am able to login but one of the farm data is disconnected and one redundance backup sites are not accessible.

Share price may not be updated to the latest as a result although movements are observed (as other farms remain connected).

This question has been asked may times. tongue.gif

TT is surely fine but fees are high. Wise allows direct transfer too but there is a risk that you will trigger AML warnings from IBKR's compliance department with the severe penalty of IBKR account closure. Some members here have reported receiving such messages while doing Wise ACH USD transfers directly from MY bank accounts to IBKR.

So the general advice is to use a slightly lengthy route with SG bank account (in your own name) as an intermediary. The fees won't differ much since the final SGD to USD conversion is done at spot rates, save for the 2 USD commission.

A year into wise straight to ibkr, have not got that aml yet.

Hopefully won't....

May I know how you do it through wise?
Which 3 options do you use, Wire, Swift, ACH?

Thanks.
*
ACH

Or just YouTube and search for our very own local YouTuber Ziest.

ACH wise keyword

They still support ACH? I thought IBKR stop receiving ACH long time ago? When was the last transfer done?
*
My account still able to use ACH wor.

Odd

Last transfer done was last month and I just checked direct ach option still available for me.

So far no love letter received yet. Fingers crossed

Did some deep dive googling.
As long using wise USD account, there seems to be no issue for ACh direct deposit or wire withdrawal to wise.
However, your milage may vary. Can test around.

ACH still works - just that they discontinued the old methods. Instead of directly deducting from your WISE US account, IBKR generates a unique ACH account number for you and you just click "Send money" from your USD Wise Multi-Currency Balance to this designated account.

Depending on amount, Wise charges some fee (quite cheap, I tested from low ~RM2k to high ~RM12k) both have similar USD0.39 sending fee.

In summary,

MYR MY Bank --> Wise USD Account balance --> IBKR ACH USD Account.
*
Me just MYR bank -> IBKR

I zhink internally already do the USD conversion automatically as there is a setting to set when I did it first time after opening the wise usd account.

Yo! So far no warning, been more than a year since I used it and I did about 2-3 top ups in between 2022 to-date.
MYR Bank as in Wise's MYR Account Balance; or local Malaysian bank? I assume it's Wise MYR Account which should be fine since they use the same rates/internal calculations anyway.

If it's local bank, just be prepared to absorb whatever conversion rates/bank charges. Definitely less hassle, though. laugh.gif

For those interested, I edited my earlier post with some steps. I was supposed to post this on my blog last year but life got to me and it's still in my blog's draft folder. Will probably finish it when I have more time this year but for now, share here first laugh.gif

Local bank MYR fpx to wise then to IBKR straight.

Intermediary already convert to USD for me via wise also as I set USD account ACH to IBKR.

Once set. Just one click all done. Which is nice.

For your experience, how long does it take for USD money to appear in your account after initiating the ACH transfer?

I recall last time there are people waiting for weeks for the ACH transaction to clear. Is that now still the case?
*
1 day so far usually the next day around 6pm or so in the 1 year using direct ach. Except holiday in US which might take longer which is expected.

But there is one time I send around 7am or earlier then it arrives in ibkr around 6pm on the same day.

So I guess there is some timing there. Experiment around and see I guess.

Maybe due to the DRP plan. https://links.sgx.com/FileOpen/20230126_App...t&FileID=744872

Not sure if you are eligible for it. By the way, the capital gain component is 0.07 Sg cents per unit, i.e. SGD 0.0007. Other distribution component includes

(i) taxable income component of 2.37 Singapore cents per Unit
(ii) tax-exempt income component of 0.95 Singapore cent per Unit

both of which are non-taxable for retail investors.

Hmm, I see.

Need to wait for the corporate action thingy to check.

Thanks.

So far have not use drip as too low currently xD

In the future test drip and see

Yep, saw some discussion in reddit.

Open a USD Wise and transfer using wise usd account info.

I on the other hand have not try it yet.

So YMMW

Now in HK, final semester, final year. Gonna graduate from HKUST this June.

Good news to share with you guys. I received an NUS Masters in Financial Engineering offer (no scholarship) and a 4-year NTU Econophysics PhD study scholarship. smile.gif

My family does not intend to support my study after Bachelor's degree, so I will go for the NTU PhD scholarship. Barring unforeseen circumstances, both NUS/NTU offers will begin this August.

My research topic will be on the "geometrical and topological study of extreme events in the stock markets".

Monthly stipend 2.2k SGD, raised to 2.7k SGD after I defend my thesis in the second year of my PhD study. Monthly expenses will be around 400-500 SGD (200-300 SGD on food, 200-300 SGD for on-campus hostel, assume I am a junior hall fellow). Saving about 2k SGD a month over a 4-year period, upon completion of my PhD can expect to save 80-90k SGD before investment returns/savings interests. rclxm9.gif

And best of all, you guys will have 4 more years of Business Times to read. laugh.gif

Just set it up and tested both Wise method myself.

There's a low flat fee so you probably still don't want to send in small amounts.

Method 1 is you indicate to IBKR (and automatically to Wise) you want to send X amount, then you are given a Wise account number to transfer your money from your bank to that account number, Wise handle the rest.

Method 2 is you transfer to IBKR directly from your Wise balance.

Both seems to use fees structure as "Remitting from Wise balance." so expect a base fixed fee of around RM2? or so.

Not bad at all, but as always, check your routes for the amount you are sending, the correct answer is different between 500, 5000, 50000, and 500000.

Just set it up myself.

Via Wise integration or ACH.

But since in SG bank already. Can always wire it to IBKR but more expensive.
