Yes. As long as you choose smart routing, ibkr will decide the best exchange for you. If you want the cheapest exchange you need to research see which is the cheapest exchange.

You don't need to change base currency. Base currency is what your investment are shown in. You can have different base currency and deposit in different currency. Up to you to see what base currency you want to see in portfolio. Mine is SGD but I invest mainly in USD stocks.

You can ibkr Ireland instead. No inheritance tax in Ireland.

Up to you to use or not. I prefer SMS over all these digital apps or token cause if phone spoil, you will be lock out. At least SMS just change phone SIM card and you can get back your SMS.

If US stocks only ACATS is the way to go.

No auto conversion happens.

Unless you are trading then you need real time data. You can slash Google the stock you want to buy, put a limit order at the price you would like to buy and set a GTC order. It will never be filled unless the piece hit that limit. That's how I queue at lower prices


Alternatively you can buy at market price.

Second alternative, open up tiger and use tiger to get real time data. You can use investing.com/trading view.

For me, I don't even bother about real time data. I alway set my order as GTC and let it sit there for months.

As far as I am aware you will only be charged once order filled.

Secondly very stupid to hold USD in cash especially now interest rate coming down which mean going forward in the future, you won't get 4.x% (effective interest as first Usd10k no interest).

Invest it and you can get 5%p.a eventually.

I do t hold t-bills. I invest my USD.

Go get yourself a tiger account and put your money in mmf. Can get 5%+. Of course not for long once US fed start cutting interest rate.
