QUOTE(jasontoh @ Nov 10 2023, 10:08 AM) Oo... you mean even with the same account, I put order for options A in US stock exchange, then another options A, it might route through different exchange? Yes. As long as you choose smart routing, ibkr will decide the best exchange for you. If you want the cheapest exchange you need to research see which is the cheapest exchange.

QUOTE(jinj @ Nov 15 2023, 12:01 PM) Thanks seniors for the reply. I have just changed the base currency and right now it is showing sgd. I have both usd and sgd in my wise acc. Although i can fund my IB in sgd, but it will autoconvert the currency. I can choose either usd, gbp or eur. No sgd. My next question is, do I need to keep changing the base currency whenever i want to deposit usd or sgd intermittently? thanksssss You don't need to change base currency. Base currency is what your investment are shown in. You can have different base currency and deposit in different currency. Up to you to see what base currency you want to see in portfolio. Mine is SGD but I invest mainly in USD stocks.

QUOTE(Mattrock @ Nov 16 2023, 07:30 PM) During the recent TD Ameritrade SG shutdown, I managed to get my account transferred to TD Ameritrade USA. However, I learnt that they do not allow foreign account holders to name any beneficiaries. Upon checking with my Will executor, they said the repatriation of any assets from the US normally is quite troublesome and may take years and lot of costs involved. So now I am mulling closing out that account, bring back funds to Malaysia in USD and then open an IBKR SG account. You can ibkr Ireland instead. No inheritance tax in Ireland. https://www.interactivebrokers.ie/en/accounts/broker-ie.phpIBKR SG is only for Singaporeesns.

QUOTE(TOS @ Nov 17 2023, 01:03 PM) I don't think moving to IBKR Ireland will change your domicile. You are still a Malaysian with a permanent address in Malaysia. One way to avoid this is invest via UCITS (which are domiciled in Ireland). Ireland got simpler taxes Vs us law. You want somewhere where it's simple. There's a reason Ireland is a tax heaven. I am not the right person to talk about taxes. Lol. This post has been edited by Ramjade: Nov 17 2023, 01:14 PM

QUOTE(Medufsaid @ Nov 17 2023, 04:23 PM) i read in this thread that quick turnaround will trigger their alarm. so if 3-5 years, should be ok? As long as you generate money for them. Don't use it purely for converting money. If want to convert money, better to use Forex brokers.

QUOTE(Yggdrasil @ Dec 2 2023, 01:42 AM) Anyone here got offered IBKR's Digital Security Card+ (DSC+)? Just received this email: Up to you to use or not. I prefer SMS over all these digital apps or token cause if phone spoil, you will be lock out. At least SMS just change phone SIM card and you can get back your SMS. Btw congrats This post has been edited by Ramjade: Dec 2 2023, 05:26 AM

QUOTE(AgoNi @ Dec 26 2023, 03:30 PM) Hey guys just want to ask how you guys buy shares if IBKR does not provide real-time data in the stock market? Unless you are trading then you need real time data. You can slash Google the stock you want to buy, put a limit order at the price you would like to buy and set a GTC order. It will never be filled unless the piece hit that limit. That's how I queue at lower prices Alternatively you can buy at market price. Second alternative, open up tiger and use tiger to get real time data. You can use investing.com/trading view. For me, I don't even bother about real time data. I alway set my order as GTC and let it sit there for months.

QUOTE(kart @ Dec 28 2023, 05:02 PM) Is there any fee / commission imposed by IBKR, if we use Good-Til-Cancelled (GTC) order, even though it may take months for the actual price to reach the price that we set? Or, IBKR will charge the usual trading commission, only when the price reaches the price that we set? In other words, in term of the trading commission charged by IBKR, there is no difference between Good-Til-Cancelled (GTC) order, and Limit Order (which expires at the end of the trading day), right? As far as I am aware you will only be charged once order filled. This post has been edited by Ramjade: Dec 28 2023, 05:05 PM

QUOTE(privatequity @ Jan 8 2024, 12:11 AM) is it a good idea for malaysian use transfer MYR via Wise to IBKR, convert to US and just sit there n get interest (USD) from IBKR? No. Wise lousy rates. Better use rhb multi currency acocunt. Secondly very stupid to hold USD in cash especially now interest rate coming down which mean going forward in the future, you won't get 4.x% (effective interest as first Usd10k no interest). Invest it and you can get 5%p.a eventually.

QUOTE(privatequity @ Jan 10 2024, 06:34 PM) For cash portion (assuming am mostly in MYR in savings acc now) - do u think its good idea to move some of it to Interactive Brokers (USD) and keep it as cash (receive the 4.8%) and/or park in t bills? any other better options? Go get yourself a tiger account and put your money in mmf. Can get 5%+. Of course not for long once US fed start cutting interest rate.
