Takudan I have found out how to buy those OTC Pink counters on IBKR.

It involves some "cheating".

You can read the reply from IBKR below:

It's rather funny that they group level 1 ADRs as penny stocks when Nestle and Roche are 200-300 billion USD companies.

But beware of liquidity risk though.

Lol! Okay good to know. How likely are they to lose the ADR "status"? Like say, maybe US tightens the requirements as part of trade war with China or something, as a result some companies' ADR are then disqualified/delisted?

Either way, I think I will keep them Swiss as they are... And learn to send some Swiss mails haha.
*
Nestle's ADR is still sponsored so it's up to the company to decide.

https://www.adr.db.com/drwebrebrand/dr-univ...?identifier=942

You can have a look at the link above to know more about it.

As for Chinese ADR, it depends on the SEC's decision. If they are not satisfied with Chinese's accounting standards and practices or could not get full access to the audit working papers, then it's the SEC's verdict whether to delist or not. Just follow the news.

If the ADR is delisted the money will be returned to you, or you can have it transferred to a new listing venue, depending on whether the company wants to list elsewhere.

Just a reminder for readers:

OTC markets can get very thin during crisis. Check the charts of those ADRs during 2008-2009 crisis from the Deutsche Bank website above, some even have no trades and no bids for the whole session back then, which means no one will buy from you at any price you are willing to sell. The bid-ask spread widens dramatically during such events.

You are strongly advised to purchase shares via primary exchanges in the home country whenever possible.

Caveat Lector.

how long does it take for the money to be in IBKR account?
*
For my case, most recent CHF deposit from Switzerland was just under 1 hour and 15 minutes. In that case Wise took 1 hour to verify with Credit Suisse for the money deposit, then some 10-15 minutes after Wise confirmed the money is received by CS, it appeared in my TWS portal ready to be invested.

USD and SGD case is around 1-2 hours.

thanks for the feedback

automated trading is more prevalent in forex and crypto. there are plenty of free and paid EA bots for the MT4/5 platforms, and quite a bit running Java, Python, etc for crypto.

imho... I don't think there is any demand here in lowyat for automated stock trading... from what I can see, most ppl here are long term value stock/etf investors

myself trade futures hence this piqued my interest... I also have a crypto bot so am familiar with the workings and limitations

Is there any web site that can compare long term performance of 2 European based ETF?
*
Can try Just ETF. https://www.justetf.com/en/

Otherwise just look for Vanguard and Blackrock websites and compare them manually. Normally you would just look at a few parameters like expense ratio etc., so can be done manually I guess.

So far did you receive dividend from ROG.SW? If yes, are they withholding 35% or 30%?
*
I just bought yesterday. Relax. laugh.gif

The dividends declared was 9.3 CHF, but it needs to be approved by shareholders in the AGM. So it can take some time. Withholding tax rate should be 35%, based on Swiss law, but if you are MY tax resident can enjoy discounted rates provided the postage fees are less than the withholding taxes refunded. I remember you asked this before.

And I am likely a HK tax resident now, so my rates are different from yours, but overall the reclaim methods should remain the same.

hey dude.

Ya i have raised ticket to IBKR, got issue with their system that my request for trading is not approved for man days. now resolve already.

IBKR users can purchased all china stock under shanghai and shenzen stock except those under shangai STAR and shenzen chinext exchange as these are for institutional investor only.

You are not interested to buy china stock? i go thru their list of companies, not bad actually the performance of their stock. shanghai + shenzen exchange itself is as big as nasdaq market cap.
*
Make sure you go through the list of CCP-related members behind those companies as well. tongue.gif

Good performance. I like your picks like Unilever, Nestle and Roche. They compliment each other well. What do you think is a good entry price?
*
Good performance? laugh.gif Check its share price on Google finance haha

My picks may not be the same as yours. Even if they are the same, the proportions of these consumer non-discretionary and pharmaceutical shares which are defensive in nature may not be the same in your portfolio.

As for entry price. A simple analysis is to look for past PE trends and deduce whether the current/forward PE is in line or not. But this is just a first order approximation as share buybacks complicate the calculations (you don't know how much buybacks are done at a given time). In the end, fundamentals matter. Brand, market share etc. for consumer non-discretionary. And patent cliff, pipelines and potential M&A for big pharma.
