Ironically one of the Sunday service, the pastor actually talked about the verses that you just gave.

So far, the pastor sound quite promising because he got show us the verses in bible through biblegateway and explained to us.

But at the same time , I have to say the following are what the pastor preached a lot.

We believe that the Bible, consisting of Old and New Testaments only, is verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit, is inerrant in the original manuscripts, and is the infallible and authoritative Word of God.

We believe that the one triune God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Adam, created in the image of God, was tempted by Satan, the god of this world, and fell. Because of Adam’s sin, all men have guilt imputed, are totally depraved, and need to be regenerated by the Holy Spirit for Salvation.

We believe that Jesus Christ is God, was born of a virgin, baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River, crucified as the Lamb of God, rose again from the dead, and ascended to heaven, where He is presently exalted at the Father’s right hand.

We believe that salvation consists of the remission of sins, the imputation of Christ’s righteousness, and the gift of eternal life, received by faith alone, apart from works.
*
.
Truth or falsehood is judged by the Word of God through the Spirit of God that have been given to Christian believers. Not being water-baptized or not living a sinless life does not prevent a Christian believer from being saved from hell, especially a Gentile Christian, eg a repentant Gentile Christian drug-addict or HIV+ sufferer who came to believe in Jesus Christ. Only faith in Jesus Christ saves from hell. Any teaching that takes away from this fact is a false teaching. .......
.

MATTHEW.4:4 = 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”
.

HEBREWS.4: = 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
.

EPHESIANS.6:17 = 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
.

JOHN.6: = 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him. 65 And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.”
.

JOHN.14: = Jesus Promises Another Helper

15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. ...

26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

JOHN.15: = 26 “But when the [c]Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. 27 And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.

JOHN.16: = . 8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: ...

13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

In the Story of Job, Job suffered for his ignorant sin(JOB.1:5 & 3:25) but he kept the faith in God/Jesus throughout his suffering, even though he was not aware why God permitted his suffering = eventually delivered from his ignorant sin/suffering and saved from hell.
....... In comparison, his wife also suffered for Job's ignorant sin and she likely lost faith in God/Jesus when in suffering, then cursed God and died(JOB.2:9) = not saved from hell.

ALWAYS KEEP THE FAITH.

On whether I shall continue to go to the church or not.

Try my explanations at https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4886095 , especially about Gentile Christians.

If you are still young, just take your time to decide by learning more about the different Churches and teachings/doctrines as compared to the Word of God/Bible.

QUOTE(MasBoleh! @ Feb 12 2020, 11:04 AM)
I understand. Because the church I attended to also mentioned countless time to believe in Jesus Christ and have faith of it.

That is why once I believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and my saviour.. I edi spiritually Baptised

From there... I passed my sins to Jesus who died and Resurrected to kingdom of god.

Now my heart is sinless and I am Spiritually connected to God. (3 witnesses)
So you see the teaching of the church is not wrong I think. This is the right gospel

Just that the church focus a lot on John the Baptist  and how he was chosen by god and given an important mission which was to baptised Jesus and represent all of us to be baptised by Jesus at the river of Jordan
*
.
REVELATION.22: = A Warning

18 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

.

Just like how people can add or subtract from the Book of Revelation, false prophets/teachers can add or subtract to the Gospel of Salvation. Eg, during the time of apostle Paul, the false Judaizers wanted to add Moses Law to the Gospel of Salvation by requiring new Gentile Christians just converted by Paul, to also keep all of Moses Law.

OTOH, today we have false liberal Christians who subtract from the Gospel of Salvation by approving unrepentant homosexuals in Church, eg gay bishops/pastors, and/or teaching the false Hyper-grace doctrine where Christians may confidently sin wilfully without any risk of losing their salvation = as if the blood of Jesus Christ has given them the license-to-sin or Get-out-of-jail-free card. In truth, the blood of Jesus Christ only gave Christian believers the Get-out-of-hell-free card.
....... Eg misguided mature Christians who go and commit murder, adultery, etc will likely soon be cursed/executed by God or His agents(= police/court-judges) and they may be saved or not saved from hell depending on them keeping the faith or losing the faith when they die a horrible death - 1CORINTHIANS.5:5.

So you are saying all the churches that focused on false gospel shall be avoid right?

But because I am still new, so I am not really sure which one is right and which one is wrong. That’s why it got me worry as if I will to become a Christian, I wish to be a true Christian that follow the right gospel.
*
.
Yes, you should avoid any Church that has been proven by the Word of God/Bible to teach a false Gospel of Salvation, eg by adding to or subtracting from the Gospel.

This is in accordance to the motto;

IN ESSENTIALS UNITY, IN NON-ESSENTIALS LIBERTY AND IN ALL THINGS CHARITY OR THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST/GOD.

In essential matters of the Gospel of Salvation, a false Church should be avoided, eg Christian cults who deny Jesus Christ was/is God or teach salvation is by works or by works+faith, ie not by faith alone.
....... In non-essential matters of keeping burdensome or non-burdensome laws/commandments of God, true Churches may differ from one another and they and their members should be at liberty or tolerant with each other in their differences, eg one true Church may emphasize water baptism by immersion just as a memorial about repentance from sins or may encourage the eating of only kosher/clean foods or the strict observance of Sabbath Sunday for Church attendance, ie not as a necessity or requirement for salvation - ROMANS.14:1-5. A true Church will not treat law-keeping as essential for salvation since it is by faith alone; but a true Church will warn against willful law-breaking resulting in being cursed/punished by God with calamities, which may put their salvation at risk due to loss of faith.
....... In all things, the brethren-in-Christ should love one another, as has been commanded by God/Jesus in His Bible/Word, ie not try to murder another or report another to the mods in this forum. During the Protestant Reformation, the Lutheran Christians killed Anabaptist Christians over the non-essential matters of water baptism and transubstantiation in the Holy Communion/Mass.

Apostle Paul, or formerly Saul of Tarsus, was an apostate and murderer against God and Christians, yet he repented and was saved from hell by Jesus Christ/God, even though later he had to suffer for his past sins. IOW, no sin/law-breaking can stop a person from being saved from hell by faith in Jesus Christ, as long as he/she repented and always keep the faith until the very end, eg a repentant Gentile drug-addict/alcoholic/chain-smoker who comes into faith in Jesus Christ does not need to be forced by the Church to quit his/her addiction cold-turkey as part of law-keeping or a requirement to be saved from hell.

Based on what you wrote, the church I went not necessary a fake church as it still focus on faith alone.

Just the emphasise a lot on John the Baptist .. for the salvation instead.

I did ask the pastor, pastor said spiritual baptised is suffice, the actual baptism is just for symbolic.

So far I have not seen this church emphasis on work or work + faith to be save by Jesus Christ.
*
.
About John the Baptist, Biblical Jewish history says that during his time in 1st century AD, the Jews had been suffering centuries of foreign rule for their willful sins/law-breaking, were repentant and waiting for God to send the Messiah/Christ to save them (from foreign rulers.? - JOHN.6:15), as promised by God in the Old Testament - JOHN.4:25. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messiah ) John was chosen by God to prepare the way for the coming Messiah/Christ by water-baptizing the Jews in repentance and to expect salvation/deliverance.
....... So, John the Baptist did not save, only the Christ/Messiah saved/saves from hell those who believed/believes in Him.

Problem was, when Jesus the Christ/Messiah came on the scene, He only wanted to save His fellow Jews from hell by gifting them the kingdom of heaven, but the Jews wanted a Messiah/Christ to save them from foreign rulers and gift them the kingdom of earth, ie Judah/Israel. Hence, the Jews rejected Jesus as the Christ/Messiah and killed Him as a false christ and heretic.(cf; MATT.24:24) Ironically, by killing Jesus the Christ on the Cross, the unbelieving Jews accomplished God's plan of salvation of fallen humans living in a rotten earth.

The water-baptism of repentance from willful sins/law-breaking by John the Baptist is just like a true Church teaching its people to be repentant about unintentional sins/law-breaking and not to commit willful sins/law-breaking, which will result in them being cursed/punished by God with earthly calamities and while in suffering they may lose faith = lose salvation. OTOH, the true Church should never teach that law-keeping will save from hell or is a necessity/requirement for salvation because salvation is solely by faith in Jesus Christ/God.
....... Unintentional sins/law-breaking, if repented of through the blood of Jesus Christ, will result in not being cursed/punished by God with calamities. Not so for intentional or willful sins/law-breaking except for rare occasions, eg during the 1st Coming of Jesus Christ to earth = miraculous healings and exorcisms.(see LEV.4) It's like the difference between negligence/mistake/misunderstanding vs murder.

Besides forgiving/atoning for unintentional sins/law-breaking(= suffer no curses), the blood of Jesus Christ crucially also atone/forgive inherited Adam's Original Sin which all humans are born with = saved from hell - ROMANS.5:12. The inborn Adamic sin nature results in involuntary/unintentional sin-in-thoughts that occasionally arise in our hearts and minds from the depths of hell/Satan, eg immoral hate/anger, sexual lust, greed, selfishness, jealousy, fear/worry, doubt, etc. Involuntary/unintentional sin-in-thoughts may culminate in voluntary/intentional sin-in-deeds, eg murder, adultery, stealing, apostasy, blasphemy, cheating/lying, etc which cannot be forgiven/atoned for(= will suffer curses/punishments from God) - MATT.5:17-48, HEB.10:26-31.

We can avoid committing intentional/willful sins and not be cursed by God with earthly calamities but we can't run away from the fact that we have been born with Adam's Original Sin and be cursed by God with being hell-bound = we need to be born-again in Christ/Spirit, in order to be saved from hell.
....... Born in Adam in spiritual death(= hell) but born-again in Christ in Spirit'ual life(= heaven).

.
Good day.

Are you a Protestant Christian.?

I usually ignore non-Protestants on this thread.

All teachings must be backed by the Word of God, as recorded by His prophets and apostles in the Bible.

Afaik, Jesus Christ was God-in-the-flesh in 1st-century AD, was also the God of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, King David, Elijah, the 12 apostles, early Christians and is also the God of today's Christians. Jesus Christ will also be the God of raptured/resurrected believers when He physically returns to earth for the 2nd time to begin His Millennial/1,000-years rule on a new earth. In Him, we see God the Father who art in heaven, ie not on earth - JOHN.14:7-9.

If you are a Protestant, I will post the relevant Bible quotes.

aral3005 Please refer to Issue#10 - What is the Holy Trinity.? at my thread https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4886095 . To me, your confusion about JOHN.8:58 stems from your lack of understanding about who God is, wrt His Fatherhood, Sonhood and Spirithood.

An Old Testament prophecy about Jesus the Prophet. .......

DEUT.18: (NKJV) = A New Prophet Like Moses

15 “The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear, 16 according to all you desired of the Lord your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God, nor let me see this great fire anymore, lest I die.’

17 “And the Lord said to me: ‘What they have spoken is good. 18 I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. 19 And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him.

20 But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.’ 21 And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’— 22 when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.
.

JOHN.1: = 19 Now this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”

20 He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.”

21 And they asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?”

He said, “I am not.”

“Are you the Prophet?”

And he answered, “No.”
.

JOHN.7: = Who Is He?

40 Therefore many from the crowd, when they heard this saying, said, “Truly this is the Prophet.” 41 Others said, “This is the Christ.”

But some said, “Will the Christ come out of Galilee? 42 Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, where David was?” 43 So there was a division among the people because of Him. 44 Now some of them wanted to take Him, but no one laid hands on Him.

The translation from greek septuagint of 'i am' in john 8:58 and exodus 3:14 is not the same if u study it. That's why u can relate it between those 2 verses.
*
.
New Testament Greek = Christos = Christ in today's English.
Old Testament Hebrew = Mashich = Messiah in today's English.

Does that mean Christ is not the same as Messiah.?

Similarly, your family at home may call you by a certain name. Your school mates or work colleagues may call you by a different name. Does this mean you were not the same person when with your family and in school or at work.?
.

P S - Hence, we should study the Bible in our 1st language, eg English, and not in its original language like ancient Hebrew in the OT, Greek, Aramaic, etc in the NT. Any difficulties or controversies which are few, we should consult the opinion and commentaries of the expert translators who understood both or all 3 languages of the Bible well.
....... Why make life needlessly difficult for ourselves when Jesus Christ has stated that His yoke is easy and burden light.?

What we read now is the translation of the bible.

If got issue especially regarding translation, i will try to study it from its original language, and the history involving the verse so i can understand it better.

In previous discussion regarding 'i am', the original language of that particular 'i am' is different between that 2 verses. How 2 different phrases translated into same word in english 'i am'?

I wish the misinterpretation in translating the bible as simple as u gave early such as messiah word.

https://biblehub.com/text/exodus/3-14.htm

Both JOHN.8:58 of the original New Testament in Greek and EXO.3:14 of the original Old Testament in Hebrew, were translated by Bible language experts into "I AM" in today's English.
....... So, Jesus Christ was the God of Moses and the God of Doubting Thomas(JOHN.20:28).

The word 'am' in john 8:58 is derived from greek text 'eimi' which can be translated to other word such as 'was", 'have'

But the point is the original text is not even the same, hence why 2 different phrase can be translated to one ' i am'.

I suggest u just to search the original text and u will find the last phrase not even the same and translated into one 'i am'.

Usually certain words need to be read and translated carefully when reading bible, such as 'son of god' or 'god'
Here in john 20:28 john expressed/saying my lord and my god, does not necessarily means jesus is god.
To me this verse contradicting another verses in the bible, some even come out from jesus himself.

You seem to be averse to the Christians' belief that "Jesus is God". .......
.

MATT.28: = The Women Worship the Risen Lord

9 And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.” ...

16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.
.

JOHN.1: = 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ...

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
.

1TIM.3: = 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:

God was manifested in the flesh,
Justified in the Spirit,
Seen by angels,
Preached among the Gentiles,
Believed on in the world,
Received up in glory.
.

ISAIAH.9: = 6
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

U mean authority given by the father?

I do believe jesus can do something after given authority/permission by the father.
*
.
The Word of God gave authority to Jesus Christ to forgive the sins/law-breaking of repentant Jewish sufferers = He removed their God-mandated curses/punishment of sickness, deformity/defect, demon-possession and even the death sentence(= by raising the dead). Hence at JOHN.5:14 & 8:11, He told the healed paralytic and death-escapee(= the Jewish adulteress) to go and sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon them. See HEB.2:4 for the reason why.
....... Similarly, the 1957 Federal Constitution of Malaya gave the Agong the authority to pardon/forgive reformed prisoners by commuting their jail sentences, even the death penalty. Same for the President of USA.

At JOHN.3:14-18 and ROMANS.5:12, the Word of God further gave Jesus Christ the authority to forgive the inherited Adam's Original Sin of repentant believers through His shed blood on the Cross(JOHN.1:29, HEB.9:22, LEV.17:11) and remove their God-mandated curse of eternal hell or spiritual death after their physical death(GENESIS.2:17). Those who believe in Jesus Christ and His Cross will be saved from hell when they die = inherit eternal/everlasting life in heaven.
....... The Agong and POTUS do not have the above authority or ability to save anyone from eternal hell, not even themselves. Of course the Muslim Agong has his own belief on how to be saved from hell, similarly for the Jewish President of Israel. The atheist/communist President of China does not even believe in hell or heaven = just die and return to dust/earth. "To each his own".
.

P S - According to MATT.5:17-48, the moment a person has immoral sexual lust, hate, anger, greed, selfishness and jealousy in his/her heart, he/she is already bound for hell. He/she does not need to actually commit murder, adultery/fornication, rape, stealing, hoarding, lying/cheating, etc to be bound for hell. So, the keeping of Moses Law or any Law will not save anyone from hell, even though he/she would still be blessed by God with a good and long life on earth, eg good and law-abiding atheists, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, etc.
....... The only way to be saved from hell is to accept Jesus as the Christ/Messiah/Mahdi and believe in Him. .......

JOHN.14: = 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. ...

1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

The Father is eternally in heaven, ie not on earth. Jesus Christ or God-in-the-flesh or God-in-the-Spirit(2COR.3:17, JOHN.6:63) was/is/will be on earth. Of course the Father in heaven is greater or has more authority than the Son on earth because of the where of God, ie in heaven or on earth. As permitted by God, the ruler of this rotten earth is Satan, not God/Jesus - REV.12:9, JOHN.14:30 & 16:11.

Similarly, the Agong is great in power and authority in Malaysia, eg to pardon prisoners, appoint the PM, dissolve Parliament, etc, but once he is outside Malaysia, eg in China or USA or Europe, he is very much less powerful. Same for the Arab kings and rulers in the Middle-East.

At present, USA is the superpower of the world. The Agong and PM8 are very much less powerful on the world stage = like jaguh kampung.

Conversely, Satan has more authority and power on earth than in heaven, eg in the Story of Job, God permitted Satan to powerfully afflict Job and his family on earth because of Job's ignorant sin - JOB.1:5 & 3:25, ie he ignorantly sinned against God by offering a vile offering just in case his spoiled sons might commit sin to cause him to lose all his hard-earned prosperity. In effect, Job was trying to buy Prosperity insurance from God to cover for his sons' probable future sins.
....... In the Malay world, the demonic powers of kampung bomohs to concoct spells/charms and hexes are legend, eg minyak dagu, jampi, etc.

If God were to summon Satan from earth to heaven, Satan would be powerless and has no authority in front of the heavenly throne of God. This exact scenario will happen when God sends Satan, his demons and 2ndly-resurrected human followers/unbelievers to eternal hell or the lake of fire on Judgment Day - REV.20:11-15.
....... It is the same Satan who appears as above on earth and in heaven.

Similarly, it is the same God who appears on earth with less authority/powers and in heaven with full authority/powers.

Believers need to know this clearly before they die on this rotten earth, be resurrected/raptured, live with Jesus Christ for a thousand years on a new earth and can eventually see God the Father on His mighty throne in heaven. Like I said before, a great gulf separates heaven and earth/hell because of Satan's rebellion in heaven and Adam's fall on earth. Only the Lord/God Jesus Christ can bridge this gulf and reconcile fallen Man on earth with God in heaven. It's like only Jesus Christ can miraculously bring His people to live with Him on the sun.

QUOTE(aral3005 @ Mar 17 2020, 03:34 PM)
Throughout the bible jesus use simple language that easy to be understand by the people at that time.
MATT.13: = The Purpose of Parables

10 And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”

11 He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. 12 For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 13 Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. 14 And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says:

‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand,
And seeing you will see and not perceive;
15
For the hearts of this people have grown dull.
Their ears are hard of hearing,
And their eyes they have closed,
Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears,
Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,
So that I should heal them.’

16 But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear; 17 for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

.
QUOTE
When the people is not believe of him to be the prophet even though explained repeatedly, then jesus say:

John 8:43
"Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you are unable to accept My message."

The reason some people not believe him is bcz they are unable to accept his message.
There is a historical reason why most of the Jews rejected Jesus son of Joseph or Isa bin Yusof as the promised Messiah/Christ/Mahdi or Saviour/Deliverer.

In 1500 BC, God gave Moses and the Jews His Law to curb their inborn tendency to commit sins, the Covenant of the Law of blessings or curses(= DEUT.28) and gifted them their own nation of Judah by ejecting the Philistines and Canaanites. The Jews' OK obedience to God's Law brought them the peak of blessings during the reign of King David and his son Solomon in 1000 BC. Thereafter, the Jews and their kings gradually descended into idolatry and disobedience to God's Law, resulting in them suffering foreign rule from 800 BC onward.

It was at this time that some latter prophets told the Jews about a coming Messiah/Christ to "save" or deliver them. Unfortunately, the Jews' self-expectation of the Messiah/Christ was to save/deliver them from foreign rule.
....... Hence, when Jesus s/o Joseph blabbered on about the kingdom of heaven/God and did not do anything about saving them from foreign Roman rule in 30 AD, they rejected Him as the Messiah/Christ and also rejected His message about Him saving them from hell. In effect, the Jews desired for the gift of the kingdom of earth, not the gift of a futuristic kingdom of heaven because they falsely believed that they would still be saved from hell (= go to heaven) by keeping God's Law or Moses Law.

QUOTE
One do not need to be a genius to learn the bible, let alone be one infused/possessed by holy spirit to be able to read the bible normally.

Does a non christian need to be in special condition to read the bible?
There are Spirit-filled Christians and non-spiritual non-Christians. There are mature adults-in-Christ and babes-in-Christ(eg most new born-again Gentile Christians). Only Spirit-filled adults-in-Christ can fully understand the Word of God in the Bible. A new born-again Gentile Christian may take years of Bible study and life experience to reach such spiritual maturity. .......

1COR.2: = Spiritual Wisdom

6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, 8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

9 But as it is written:

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
.
1COR.3: = Sectarianism Is Carnal

3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3 for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? 4 For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?

I read last paragraph, are u indicating jesus is a messiah/prophet?

Mind to tell how the same God as in heaven appears on earth with less authority?isn't that 2 different persons?

I already told you a few times who Jesus s/o Joseph or Isa bin Yusof is, according to the Word of God. It is up to you to accept or reject what is stated in the Bible about Jesus Christ.

1THESS.4:16-17 says that the Lord/God Jesus Christ will be returning to this rotten earth to save/deliver His people from persecution/prosecutipn by the powerful governments of the world and destroy/judge the unbelievers and this earth. Some mature spiritual Christians expect His return within the next few decades = coming soon.

Of course the Muslims have their own version for the return of their Mahdi/Messiah/Christ, ie to save/deliver the Muslims and destroy/judge the non-Muslims. .... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahdi
.
Let's just wait and see who has the truth. No point arguing between Christians and Muslims about the Return of Christ/Mahdi/Messiah to this earth or about the way to heaven or hell after death since it's about different beliefs about the future.

I am more to protestant

The reason i tag u is, sometimes i accept the way u post so many verses here, as actually people even outside this thread can read other verses, not just the popular ones. And we can know the context of certain verses by knowing reading the previous verses and how it related.

I do not prefer cherry picking certain verses and force it to fit to our own explanation.

John 8 jesus mentioning many times how he is comparable to previous prophet, and he was sent by god. And see how the jews reacting to him, by accusing him as false prophet, not god or godhood.

To have good discussion, set aside our emotions by sticking to the bible and being objective as much as we can. Expalanation follow the bible, not bible that have to follow our explanation.

I finished my work last night and only to be able to read 2 posts since it's a long post and started to rain so i just hv to get back home immediately.

Fyi, I'm a moslem.
I'm not hijacking this thread, and discuss any issue in the bible critically without even giving or creating my own explanation to fit my own imagination - i let the verse speaks as it is.

I do appreciate those replying me engaging with me with academic manner, not some using emotions just to strengthen their expalanation.

Feel free to think if I'm unfit to be in this thread.

Read my post since the beginning i started reply in this v15 thread.

It's not nice and respectful to lie to others. You have wasted my time by lying to me. I think God/Jesus has punished you for it, as per His law of ni4ni, ie wasted your time. God is real and watching us.

FYI:

Afaik:

Intentionally proselytizing to a Muslim is an offense under Malaysian Law.

1PETER.5: = 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

I asked you whether you are a Protestant Christian and told you that I usually ignore non-Protestants. Your answer to my question inferred that you are more to Protestant Christian than Catholic Christian, not that you are not a Protestant.
....... Now, it's quite evident you had the intention to mislead me into not ignoring you, a Muslim. It's a form of twisting words to hoodwink and take advantage of others, similar to how people are hoodwinked into investing in MLM money scams.
.
In Malaysia, a Muslim who declares himself/herself to be "more to Protestant"(= interested in Protestantism.?) can be hauled up by the local Syariah authorities for the offense of apostasy.

If you are in Malaysia, be careful, eg other Muslims may report you to the Syariah authorities.

Proselytising of Muslims by members of other religions is prohibited by federal law, even though Muslims may proselytise. It is prohibited in 10 of the 13 states (i.e. excepting Penang, Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal Territories) and can lead to lengthy jail sentences and many strokes of the rotan (whipping). Most Christian and a few other religious groups in Malaysia put a standard disclaimer on literature and advertisements stating "For non-Muslims only".[

This is a Christian Fellowship thread = not suitable for Christian vs Muslim debate. You may have better luck at the Real World Issues section, where such debates between different religious adherents and even non-religious adherents(eg atheists) are common, eg https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4861839/+1440
