I have been living without gms for the past 2 weeks. From mate 30 to p40 pro. About 90 percent of the times I don't miss gms? But I'm not using a wide variety of apps to start with. And I only play one mobile game and it happens to work without gms.

Other Google apps,

Gmail - can be accessible using Huawei native mail apps
YouTube - been using YouTube vanced before this
Google maps - transferred from previous device and works without issues
Chrome - I'm browsing lowyat using chrome

I'm actually glad that Huawei is banned from gms. See without this ban we can never enjoy these flagships with so much discount and add ons.

So no Waze bro? I think that's probably a big miss for me but I totally agree with you that US banning Huawei is not a bad thing. I was really hoping we'll get another OS out of it instead of just choosing between iOS or Android. I think once HMS is mature, they'll be a force to reckon with.

I'm the odd one always prefering Google maps to waze, so not sure about that. Do you remember HERE maps? It is the alternative selection available in appgallery.

My first choice of map is HERE maps followed by Google maps.

HMS will mature definitely and its not going to take a long time looking at how much money Huawei is offering developers to reprogramme their apps for them.

Yeah bro, agree at all counts. There is space for a new OS and Huawei definitely has the resources to go about developing something new. Hopefully we'll see something positive coming out of this soon. The other possibility is hopefully the US will get a new president come their November elections.

I guess a new os won't happen anytime soon. The harmony os wasn't built to replace android. Having to alter it halfway like that requires serious investment to get it to work. I'm afraid it will turn out like meego/ tizen.
