On 1 year trial of the Apple TV+ now but seems like totally no content to watch at all.

All movies need to pay even with Apple TV+ subscription.

Only very very limited Apple original content no need to pay.
*
Only content label Apple TV+ is under free for Apple TV+ subscriber.

The rest is actually pull from iTunes where purchase or rent is required. This was actually mentioned in announcement of Apple TV+ event.

Apple know their contents to little, that why Apple keep extending the free period because they know very less will subscribe it as the content is too little and for the moment Apple never plan to let you see others none Apple TV+ movies free yet.

It is whole world same. They do is that little show to watch for the moment.

The TV channel where need to extra paid one do different, that one had more channel in USA but all required additional subscription fees.

Apple TV+ is a very Apple thing, as in it's something only Apple would do. Common sense dictates that if you want to go into the streaming business, you need lots of content to bring in subscribers. That's how Netflix started out, with licenses from almost all US entertainment studios, before they produced their own content. Apple typically chose to do things their way, instead of the easy way, and launched their streaming service with 100% original content. Of course in terms of content they can't compete with the likes of Netflix. Yet.

But the content on Apple TV+ feels...curated. I can see they are prioritising heartfelt character-driven dramas, which happen to be my cup of tea. The latest show I have been watching is Ted Lasso, which I highly recommend anyone who follows English football to watch. It's a comedy full of cliched and caricature-like characters, but there is just the little extra depth to elevate it from generic comedies.

Other gems I found on Apple TV+ are Defending Jacob and The Morning Show. Tehran looks interesting too, although I haven't watched it.

1. Without subscribing to the Apple little black box, can we just use the Apple TV App on our hand phone (iPhone 8) and just watch whatever movie we want to rent?

2. If Rent ... I think mostly is RM9.90... how many times can we watch? Do we download the movie to our phone first and then watch? Or, they allow download only for “buying” the movie?

3. Can we charge it to our credit card for each rental or buy, and not charge it to our phone bill?

Kindly advise as I have not used it before.

I wanna ask. Is it really that few contents for. Movies especially on apple tv ➕.

If compare to Netflix I think very little content in Apple TV. I not sure unless I'm. Browsing in the wrong place

The Apple TV box is not for subscription. It is different from Apple TV+, which is a subscription service for original series/movies produced by Apple. Yes you can use the TV app to watch movies you rented, but are you sure you wanna spend 10 bucks to watch a movie on your iPhone screen?

Rental movies will be available up to 30 days after you pay, and 48 hours after you start playing the movie. You can watch the movie unlimited times within the 48 hour time frame. The payment will be charged to your credit card, not to your phone bill unless any telco is doing some promotion that I’m not aware of.

Yes content on Apple TV+ is very limited at the moment, as the service is 100% original content produced by Apple and they only started last year. So you can’t compare it to Netflix, which has a huge catalog of existing shows/movies. But then again, Apple TV+ is currently free for everyone who bought an Apple device in the past year, and it will continue to be practically free for anyone who subscribes to Apple One.

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, I’m confused by one of your statements. I didn’t subscribe to Apple One but I think the Apple TV app is available in my iPhone when I bought it. Also available in my older iPhone version. And if we subscribe to the Apple One, does it mean subscribers don’t have to pay anymore for rental movies, but only if you want to buy it??

Oh btw, I noted quite a lot of movies can be rented in Apple TV... not necessarily those produced by Apple only.

Apple TV can mean three different things. Screw Apple for making things confusing.

1. Apple TV set box, which is a hardware to be connected to your TV.
2. Apple TV app, which is available on all Apple devices, where you can rent or buy movies.
3. Apple TV+, which is a streaming subscription service that resides inside the Apple TV app. To access the content, the normal price is RM19.90 monthly. This is a totally separate section from the other parts of Apple TV app. Subscribing to Apple TV+ does not entitle you to watch any other movie for free. Vice versa, you can still rent/buy any movie available without subscribing.

I see. I understand now. Thanks.

But you’re right whether do I really want to rent and watch the movie on my small phone screen. Sigh... with cinemas closed, what options do we have? Lol... I don’t have a TV. Thanks again.

You just need US ID to access US App Store, VPN is not required.
