Correct me if I'm wrong. Those Sony, Samsung brands are belong to Hi-Fi already right? So may be you should proceed to Hi-Fi section because i've absolutely no idea about Hi-Fi stuff tongue.gif Anyway, Hi-Fi are not cheap sweat.gif A decent one will easily hit few k.

i want to buy a decent 2.1 speaker..budget is around rm500-600...
main purpose : movie and music
I have read this review by hardwarezone.com
http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view....9&id=2814&pg=10
and Klipsch GMX seems to be a rather decent choice...
any comments? =)
*
Do you already had a decent soundcard to pair with the speaker?

hahhaha...not really...does that mean that  i need a decent soundcard like xfi titanium to pair with the speaker? sad.gif
*
Yea, there's no point that you get a ass-kicking speaker yet pairing with built-in sound-card. Anyway, since you don't hv soundcard yet then you should omit Altec Lansing MX5021 and go for the Klipsch GMX 2.1 instead since it costs only around Rm400 and you can allocate the another Rm200 for a soundcard.

edifier is more to clarity rather than bass is it?

Yea, IMO Edifier speakers focus more on clarity, AL and Sonic Gear more to bass.

thx for the info.. the woofer is already on the floor.. smile.gif

regarding the burn in.. means i hv to heavily use the speaker so that it can reach its best performance is it? if i dont use it often.. then after a certain period.. will it still reach its best performance state?
*
Actually just by playing those songs for certain hours will do, normal listening, but some says that you had better play it at volume higher than normal. It's up to you, as long as you won't disturb ur neighbour. Others might say it's better to use those Pink, white or brown noises for the burning process, pink noise is more favoured as it's said to comprise of wide range of frequency and normal songs are said to be biased towards certain frequency(read it from somewhere here, I forgot who mentioned it ady)

Mako is 2.1. Z5500 is 5.1 quite unfair to compare both of them.

Just use ur speaker as usual, dont really need to put effort into burn in. After some use, ur speaker will reach its optimum working state. Dont need use pink noise. Just ur regular music. If ur in a hurry, just let it run continuosly for 24hours then it will be fine. As for volume, use it at your comfortable listening level, dont wanna disturb others in the house, then when there are no one around then maybe u can crank it a bit above normal listening level.

There are a few school of thought but to me, a speaker shud sound nice even before burn in and better after burn in, but for speaker, i dont experience much difference after letting it run for a day. But for IEM, i do feel mine changed after 100 hours and pretty much stabilise after that. I have heard a audiophile tell me he only buy used speakers cause he says it saves him 1 year of burn in  sweat.gif
*
Interesting idea, save the time of burn-in process and money as well smile.gif

Yea, both Edifier C3 and S330 are not bad. Klipsch is pretty hard to find nowadays I guess bcoz there're less ppl looking for it in M'sia. Try Sri-Comp see whether they still hv stocks for it or not.

You can go for Edifier S330/C3 or Klipsch GMX2.1 like the bro above. You can go for Altec Lansing MX5021 if you're willing to fork out more cash for it, around Rm550. However since you're using it on ur MacBook, I suggest you grab an external soundcard as well otherwise it won't sound gd.
