imo, logitech produce good sounds.
but the price is not proportionate to the sound that it gives.. that's all.

if the price is cheaper, perhaps it'd be a good choice.
(hard cause Logitech is a known brand today)

just my 2 cents.

Please read my previous posts before replying. =/ You're not replying to my posts, instead, this is counted as spam to me.

As I said, I was gonna buy a Bose Companion 3 Series 2 2.1speakers which someone said costs around RM980. And I just want to know whether the sound quality for the Bose speakers are better than my dad's old Sony home theater system. From the replies to my question, I think not even one is an audiophille. =/ Can someone who REALLY knows these things help me please?

I just came back from Singapore, and I saw a Bose Companion 3 Series 2 being sold there for around $450. I heard the sound coming from these speakers, and it was orgasmic! I was seriously interested in it and wanted to buy it when my friend told me that it could get held by the customs if I tried to bring them over here.

I don't know whether this is the correct place to ask this or not, but I want to know where can I buy these speakers and how much will they cost in Malaysia?

Thank you.

I just came back from One Utama and it seems that the Bose shop there is closed already. I'm gonna go to KLCC next weekend to find the speakers.

I'm kinda new to this audiophille things, can someone give me a brief introduction + info on these things? Like, whether I should get an amp, or change my soundcard to compliment the Bose Companion 3 speakers? Thanks again.

EDIT: Oh yeah, one more thing, I have a Sony STR-K840P amp together with the 5.1 speakers which my dad is willing to give me. Is this better than the Bose Companion 3 Series 2 speakers?

Hmm.. What I'm trying to say is, in terms of sound quality, which one is better?
*
Bro, from your post, guess that you had listened to both the Bose Companion 3 Series 2, and obviosly your dad's sony + 5.1 speakers as well. Since u said it was orgasmic to listen to Bose, did u get that feeling when you are listening to your dad's sony + 5.1 speakers?

Just as jazzy939 said, almost none of us heard your dad's speaker system, so it's very hard for us to comment anything about it. Again the same saying, sound is subjective. Therefore, trust your ear (after all, the speaker will serve your ears tongue.gif) and get the one that suits your need thumbup.gif

Hi all,

I need icon_question.gif! I'm looking for a 2.1 speaker, and the numerous options are giving me a headache rclxub.gif
I want it mainly for music. I listen to all genres, from orchestral scores which require good treble, to hip hop and techno with pounding bass.
I also want it to give good sound for movies, especially those Star Wars type action flicks tongue.gif
No gaming though.

The brands i'm considering are Altec Lansing, Edifier and Sonic Gear. Any recommendations? I know its important to test the speakers with my own ears and choose what i like, but its difficult to do so when there are a dozen other speaker models blaring different tunes in the same shop. Edifier is the only brand i've been able to properly test, and i like the M3300. Does this model have any problems/weaknesses?

I'd also like for the subwoofer to be of a reasonable size as my room is quite small. The AL models i've seen have HUGE subwoofers.

My budget is maximum RM250 (but I might consider a more expensive model if you can prove the speaker is worth it wink.gif )

Thanks for the help folks smile.gif

Just bought myself a Logitech X-530...
Sounds good to me even when I'm using onboard sound... I think will soon upgrade to Audigy...
X-530 seems good to me when watching movie and playing games... But when it comes down to listening music(I listen to classic), I felt it's too bassy...
Hope this helps smile.gif

I do still recommend you to survey at the shop 1st before making ur final decision. If u go to lowyat, just find thundermatch 5th floor,ALL IT Hypermarket or Sri Computer to test it.About the tune all come out issue,u just turn off d volume of dall speaker and open d one u like to listen,by that u can listen 1 by 1 for d variety of speaker. And with side by side comparing, u can easily get d best sound performance that suites you need.Altec,Edifier or Sonic Gear are all well,AL is more to clarity, and Sonic Gear is more to bass.

for me, its depends on the size of your room. let says you are living in a small room, 2.1 is enough already. However, if you want 2.1, you should be looking for a good one such as logitech Z series. if you have bigger room, then buy 5.1 or home theater. hahahaha

take out my very old.. amp spoiled Cambridge Soundwork 4.1 speaker.. plug the satellite to my unsatisfied BT3 Sub.. wakakkakaa... it sound much better than the Original BT3 Satellite..

it is only wt 1 x 3" driver compare to BT3 satellite.... it have much more higher mid high and sound more nature compare to the Ori BT3 plastic sound... sweat.gif sweat.gif although the cambridge using plastic compare to the BT3.. wood... sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

anyway.. it tend to have lower high..tweeter sound.. but this is pretty normal since it only have 1 driver... laugh.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif

Added on September 15, 2007, 9:43 pmBut of course.. 1 driver are good for nearfield application like computer spaeker.. since we sit so near to the PC... compare to the BT3 3 drivers....

Is it possible the volatage of your old speaker may not suit to BT3 speaker?
I means the BT3 sub may cant provide the enough voltage to your old speaker rclxub.gif

hahahahaha....

both of the satellite are passive.. all the amp for computer speaker are in the sub.. what u worry friend??

what u have to worry the the Impedance of the speaker.. u worry.. just use an impedance meter to measure the speaker impedance will do..

most of the time.. computer speaker.. u get 4 ohms or some time lower.. slightly higher may the case sometime.. but very less chance la...

the only concern of different impedance is when u attached too low impedance speaker to the amp.. u may blow the amp provided u really blast it la... some more.. my old satellite cannot be low as 2 ohms or 1 ohms la.. if it is 1 ohms. I throw it to the dushbin now.. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Added on September 15, 2007, 10:05 pmBeside.. for ur knowladge.. if u loop speaker.. the impedance will go lower .. say.. u have 2 4ohms spaeker .. then u loop it.. .. 1 amp output.. go to 2 speaker.. it impedance will become 2ohms...

very simple parallel Resistor logic... looping 2 speaker just the same like parallel 2 resistor..

this will bring harm to ur amp becoz it drain more power from ur amp...

So my ancient Logitech Z-540 4.1 speakers just died, so I need to go and get a new set of speakers. Since no one seems to sell 4.1 anymore, I've decided to drop to 2.1's instead (PC & Xbox360 are both in my bedroom, and can't really expand into a 5.1 anyway).

So I'm looking for a really good pair of 2.1 speakers. Primary is gonna be watching video's & gaming (PC & Xbox 360 will be hooked to it, Xbox is thru my PC Monitor as well). It must also be dependable. My Z-540's lasted the better part of 4 years, so I'd like them to last.

I want to say that cost is no object (the constraint is more physical space in my room), but I don't wanna be too silly about it. Let's say I think it's ridiculous to go beyond RM700 for a 2.1 set. Though mind you, if it's really good I'll probably be able to convince myself.

Right now I'm looking at:

Altec Lansing FX 6021
I-Trigue L3800
Logitech Z-2300

One other thing that I'm looking for is easy availability. All three models above are easily available in LowYat.

So, what do you guys recommend? Is there any other 2.1's that I should listen to. I know nuts about Klipsch and the other brands, so recommendations welcome.

Ya, why MX5021 not in your list laugh.gif laugh.gif
FX6021 is not suit to play game but major in listen song
Z-2300 with THX certified, for gaming and movie.
MX5021 with THX certified, also for gaming and movie.
Klipsch GMX ProMedia 2.1, for gaming and movie too.

If Z-2300, MX5021 and GMX Promedia is suitable for gaming.
But if you're bass head, you may go for Z-2300.

Just my 2 cent icon_rolleyes.gif
