get those after Jan/Feb 2011, with the 6-speed gearbox. Car is on the heavy side, so fuel consumption will not be the best. If can find a good 2.0L model, go for it.
Compared to Civic year 2011? you can buy 2 Fortes + Full Service (~27k each) vs 1 Civic (~58k). And yes, common issues are ignition coil (RM280/unit) + alternator (1k+) + aircon compressor (2k) + absorber link (RM125/each). Handling is above average, and very nice to drive at highway speeds. Downside, outside road noise is not dampened well. |

QUOTE(originalyolo @ Aug 13 2019, 12:29 PM) No idea about the Cerato.. i've been driving the Forte since 2011, no reason to change (but looking forward to the next Forte GT/Turbo). I did sit in a Cerato during a mall roadshow, couldn't stand the fake carbon fiber on the dashboard... however, the forums are saying that the Cerato has a much plusher ride compared to the Forte. So if comfort is priority, then go for the Cerato. Here is a review by our rally legend: https://youtu.be/A6Ou4K1QHz0 babisotong liked this post

QUOTE(Stigonboard @ Aug 13 2019, 12:33 PM) The old one yes U dont get my point. Forte above the korean cars are better equipped and have similar quality with japanese car The low resale is just 1-2k difference due to perception that japanese is superior Quality i have no doubt they hv improved. I am talking about their engine technology and the way they drive. Put it this way, its very easy to make a car with good quality interiors etc etc. Just slapgood quality stuff in it. But its not easy to make an engine thats drives as good as a honda or toyota engine. When i drive a Honda, i feel the car is so smooth and easy to rev. It has a small 1.5L engine but feels energetic and powerful When i drove the Kia forte many years ago, the engine felt lazy, not smooth at all, and does not feel powerful even its a 2L engine. Summore it drank fuel like nobodys business. And mind you it was a new car with less than 2k mileage on it This post has been edited by kevin23: Aug 13 2019, 02:05 PM |

Korean cars are cheaper than Japanese cars and good value for money. The comfort is between Conti and Jap. FC is high. RV is bad for initial years but if after 10 years, no difference. babisotong liked this post

my 2010 4-speed 1.6 forte still going strong. Just sent it t replace from absorbers, but no major isssue since day 1. The most expensive repair is the compressor in year 7 of ownership. I just got myself a 3 series in March, but I'm still keeping the Forte babisotong liked this post

2nd hand car most probably need constant repairs (especially those that are over 10 years, however good the quality is it can't beat wear and tear), one of the biggest reason they get sold.
So better get something that spare parts are easy to find and cheap. |

QUOTE(kevin23 @ Aug 13 2019, 02:33 PM) Wtf does engine easy to rev and lightness got to do with feeling floaty on the road? European cars actually deliberately tuned to give heavy pedal feedback Pls don't compare conti cars with Korean cars la. Conti cars engine is fantastically built. Besides Korean cars are heavy which explains why their FC is bad. This actually to make the car feel 'solid' and 'heavy' which in turn made the driver feel stable and planted. So the car pedal will feel 'rolling start' instead of 'instant pedal' feel of japanese car For example lot of Honda or Nissan driver actually complaining to BMW SA that they felt that their new BMW feel 'heavy' when they accelerate from traffic light compared to jap cars Even japanese car steering feedback also lighter - while conti cars are tuned heavier coz europeans hate it as it made the car feel 'floaty' But in untrained hands it made the heavier steering of conti cars feel 'slow' and 'ancient' But once it pickup on the highway and via the tight corner then they feel the differences of conti Kia newer cars is designed by Audi Peter Schreyer (Forte is his first creation) and he mentioned that they deliberately tuned it to mimic conti car feeling This post has been edited by Stigonboard: Aug 13 2019, 05:07 PM babisotong liked this post

I got one.. 2012 1.6, 6speed version which i bought new. I gave it to my mom. Already clocking 150k now. Still drives well apart from abs warning and tcs light that keep coming on and off. Sc qoute rm800 to change the abs sensor but some says its due to the brake switch. I didnt have time to change that cos now im in NZ to study. While that happen, i just drive saja.. But no major issue so far like others mentioned (compressor/alternator/coil etc). Just normal service as per schedule. If u want, do get the 6spd version. Should be no problem. Maybe spare rm3-5k for wear n tear (as others mentioned). babisotong liked this post
