I talk with Jason one of their sales personnel earlier this morning (my time)..

he said that there's new model coming .. but really wonder what it would be ..

I really got tired with the current selection of LL case which has not much of different between one another ...

hope LL really work out something fantastic like V-Cool series before ..

Really stop liking their box look case after having few of my own that looks pretty much the same ...

bleh. the designers over at lian li should be shot.

theyre cases always has these small, and sometimes unacceptable flaws.

and i pray to god (& if it helps, lucifer as well) they dont go making another case with ridiculous thermal solution like the A05.

they really should make theyre case "modular" if theyre so desperate to please every one out there. like the G7/007 chassis. front panel and HDD cage are interchangeable etc etc. could always sell those parts seperately.

hmmm what's wrong with A05 ?? I've had no trouble with it besides that it has dead zone over gc ....

other than that there's nth much to complain about it ... there's even a dedicated thread for A05 over hardforum and number of people that uses or look forward to built their rig with that case is really astonishing ...

even our sniper on the roof loves his case so much ...

it's a good case for people that want it small without compromising the hardwares selection. However it's definitely not a case for OCer..

It's just too much for the case to handle ... hahhah not a full tower after all ..

i wouldnt mind so much if it exhausts air through the front TOP.

but the front bottom....bleh....

that case on stock config is not good for temps.

You're right in the sense that it makes sense to exhaust the psu on the front top... but this will also pose some issues.

1) A complete reverse, ie optical drive on the bottom will really look weird... and it's hard to push the eject button

2) Optical drives are longer than HDDs so if it's on the middle of the chassis, it will obstruct long VGA cards. Even with the current configuration, its going to be tight to fit in an 8800 + full complements of HDD's

3) The A05 is already long enough as it is, any longer and it'll be really cacat'ed.

Anyhow, temps are ok lar by just reversing the fan's direction...it's now the same as my old Akasa lor.

It's not going to be beating a large tower case with 8 fans sounding whooshing away but then again, the A05 is a niche case. Like Doom said, its expandable (anything smaller means shoeboxes) while maintaining the smallest possible dimension.

Here's the SOTR classification of the perfect cases for respective target audiences:

The record beating overclocker The full 5 star hardcore nekkidness
--> What's that??? Case??? Real hardcore 1337 people don't need case tongue.gif

The tweak tweak...boom.. enthuasiast A little mosaic but ya still get the picture.
--> Tower cases likethe old CM STACKER (new one's crap) still wins in it's practicallity and the PC-70 towers etc... to fit in the WC loops....the many pumps and the extra layer for the phase change system.

The married enthuasiast. The gravure gurl
--> Tower cases SS TJ-07, TJ-09, TJ-10, PC-A70/71 for space but has to have an acceptable level of WAF to win the wifey's approval.

The metrosexual. The STUFF model
--> The Aesthetically pleasing V-series and to a certain extent, the TJ07 tongue.gif

The Joe next door (mainstream market...80% of the population) Errrr.... gurl next door?
--> The regular mid towers..from the Lian Li mids to the Icute mids... not too much... not too little... not too much risk... not sure what they really want... don't want too much... don't wanna risk too little = not too exciting.

The space-challenged - Like a petite young thing in a slinky black dress packing F-cups(C)
--> LL SG01 for the occasional traveller. Despite all, shoeboxes are still limited in terms of VGA space, heatsinks and HDD's that you can throw at it.
--> PC-A05 for the folks living in pigeon holes. It's the only expandible ATX solution that's smaller than the mid towers.

The pre-pubescent or the 2F2F I wanna neon light crowd Lolisssssss
--> TT's, Raidmax etc. whistling.gif whistling.gif

hmmm I've read through some of the comments at hardforum regarding A05, and seems like what I experienced was right.

In order to get the fullest cooling performance out of A05 it by doing the following mod:

1. Remove front bezel or replace it like the one Uncle Ian did = 3c drop on gc.

2. Blow hole at side facing GC + fan = 5c drop on gc.

3. Blow hole at top facing GC (No sound card in between)+ Fan = 4c drop on gc.

I've never tried to have the bezel removed along with side fan hole cut in the same time, but having a 12cm fan at side really does the wonder of 5c drop immediately. Got the idea from stock Lian Li BS-02 side patent fan.

So if one really want best cooling performance out from this small case then do all the steps stated above but changed the top blow fan to exhaust. So pretty much all the hot air would be carried away and leave nth more than cool environment in the case. ..

That's where nice designed radiator grill comes into play. ... it would just make the case even more outstanding ..and add a bit of curve to the box look of the case that most would said does this case comes fro MAINLAND OF CHINA???

Totally agree, it's hard to balance between aesthetic and performance. ..

is there a side panel with window for the v1200 plus II?

i know i can mod it but want to "save" the side panel if i can help it. it looks so solid, it would be a waste to cut it up.

1) Case temp : 33C

This pic was taken upon reaching home. The last reboot was at least a week ago but basically it's been left 24/7 pronloading.

user posted image

2) Max load case temp: 38C

Then I played Bioshock for 1 hour and this pic was taken right after kena whack by the little girl Daddy robot guardian thingy...

3) Idle temp sidepanel off: 45C

Then I took off the side panel to take a picture of the probe location... the idle temps goes up.

4) The probe is located as marked by the green circle

5) Room Ambient temp: 30C

6) HDD temps as requested. Ignore the RED one.... that's one of the HDD's that's affected by the WD2500KS buggered batch.

Just receive the news that Lian Li will be distributed by new distri. So, next time u guys can approach me, moderno, bombman, nicholasteoh and many more to get the Lian Li cases. If u guys can list out the stuffs that are favoured here, then, the distri will know what to bring in.

Thank you in advance. notworthy.gif

Finally there's some other lights that could shine the magic and wonder of lian li in the land of MALAYSIA...
