In many multinationals, there are two tracks, a management track and a technical track ie. no people management. I've been in at least 3 multinationals practicing this although they were more technical companies.

The titles and salary ranges would be similar across the two tracks. For example

Engineering Advisor/Senior advisor = Manager/Senior manager
Principal Engineer = Director
Chief Engineer = VP/SVP

How easy is it to be a Principal Engineer? It's as difficult as being a Director.
Salaries aren't standard, the principal telecom engineer reporting to me was making RM60-80k monthly if I recall

Even technical in EE also can go up to 30k - 40k?

Principal Engineer.
I think someone already answer this.
PE is the equivalence of director.

Tambah SIL cert, wireman cert.

Yeah generally with a SIL (TUV certification) and IECEx CoPC you open up a lot of doors to specializing in high income industries.

No wireman cert (here in Aus it's different) but I do have TUV FSEng and CoPC (except for 5), which helps me a lot with the money side of things. Wanting to do TUV PHRA at the end of this year.

No lah. Took a 50 percent cut in pay to stop FIFO and now I’m doing pipeline work on the DBNGP. Mostly just office based these days.

May go back when Barrow Island T4 and 5 are announced but I recently got some calls for Pluto LNG2.

Going back to the topic at hand I guess much like a Doctor, the real money is made when you specialise in a very esoteric field of electrical engineering where the end product requires a specific skillset.

Depending on your current job my advice is to branch out and look for niche opportunities to extract more knowledge. For example as I work in remote areas where power is generated onsite, SKM Powertools is very useful, not to mention HV switching qualifications.

Our control system engineers often double up at network engineers with an ACMA structured cabling and fiber license with CCNP quals too, because the company would often rather pay 1 person extra rather than hire another person.

Lol, that guy forever spam everyone asking for salary details.

------

Anyway my 2 cents contribution to the main topic.

Closed down EE company in KL, average monthly salary

Engineer 1 = ~RM3k
Senior eng = ~RM4K
Staff eng = ~5-6K
Principal eng (management track equivalent would be "manager") = ~7-9K
Technologist ("senior manager") = ~10-15K, max payscale i believe was rm23k
Snr Technologist ("director") = 20-25K

additional benefit for moving into management role would be additional RSUs given
