Transition towards computer science or digitalisation related engineering... In Malaysia "engineer" title is misused a lot until it became cheap. Real engineers walk the path to become a lead/principal engineer, subject matter expert, engineering specialist etc.

May be one out of 100 or even more, depends on field of industry.

Can't expect working at same position, but wages climb to such a level.
Promoted (jump ship) to senior position, managerial position, director, then you will have such a wages.

Many do venture into own business after getting experience, and various contact in and out in the field, this is where the "wages' can go even beyond.

In many multinationals, there are two tracks, a management track and a technical track ie. no people management. I've been in at least 3 multinationals practicing this although they were more technical companies.

The titles and salary ranges would be similar across the two tracks. For example

Engineering Advisor/Senior advisor = Manager/Senior manager
Principal Engineer = Director
Chief Engineer = VP/SVP

How easy is it to be a Principal Engineer? It's as difficult as being a Director.
Salaries aren't standard, the principal telecom engineer reporting to me was making RM60-80k monthly if I recall
