that's just an excuse. Ayam usually travel without carrying any cash at all and withdraw from any ATM using my cc when needed. Never encounter such issues.

Exactly my point. If our country had very strict immigration rules like how Australia now has to profile Malaysians entering the country, we can cut down the number of illegal immigrants in Malaysia.

I somehow feel their profiling sometimes pretty spot on.... one time i went there with a bag of salted egg fish skin by irwin (bought from singapork for my friends and cousins there)... The officers actually called me aside somehow knowing im carrying something prohibited
Luckily i did tick that i have something to declare (as any animal products is actually not allowed to be brought in, including deep fried fish skin) so cukur it went smoothly.

If you have ticked yes to anything, you are automatically pulled to investigate....they don't always will search, they will ask what you are declaring....and if your list is deemed ok, and you are not profiled, they will wave you through....if they search, they will dump those stuffs prohibited and wave you through....

They are generally more suspicious of those who ticked no....and if they profiled you already, they will search....and fine you if they find stuffs....

Msia don't seem to care much ....in any case, they don't come in by flight and overstay.....they just come through the jalan/kapal tikus along the porous border....so strict at airport no use.....

i got called walking on the transit hall even before reaching the immigration counter to submit that form. Maybe im walking in a queer manner because trying not to crush those crispy fried fish skin in my duffel bag. Gotta say. their eyes are good at spotting such subtle behavior... either that or just im so damn lucky to be called.... or the awesome fragrance of the fried fish skin triggered one of their smelling dogos LOL.
