Teaser was shown in front of "Hobbs & Shaw", and luckily managed to see it on YT before taken down laugh.gif

It shows primarily John David Washington's character. It has an "Inception" vibe to it.

The words in the teaser:

"TIME HAS COME FOR A NEW PROTAGONIST"

"TIME HAS COME FOR A NEW KIND OF MISSION"

"FROM CHRISTOPHER NOLAN"

"JOHN DAVID WASHINGTON"

saw the teaser this morning.

the statements r pretty intriguing tho. as if they r referencing to an existing movie. "new protagonist", "new mission". sequel to inception?

July 2010 - Inception
Ten years later...
July 2020 - Tenet

Inception sequel? hmm.gif Title already a palindrome.

Maybe the same company that produced the experimental military technology in "Inception" returns with something newer?

Whatever it is, "time" will play a role in the film as evident from the teaser which showed the main character seeing the bullet hole twice.

Few things that came to mind, when I visited the official website.

In it, the title of the movie is seen moving in a clockwise manner, which is a visual indication that "time" does play a role.
If you look closer, the title of the movie moving in a clockwise manner, also spells the time "ten ten" i.e. 10:10, which is the famous time found on time piece photographs and advertisements.
Possible that whatever that's going to go ape s*** will take place at that time, in one of the character's life? hmm.gif

Also, if you pay attention to the background of the website, each time one end of the title hits the 15mins mark and 45mins mark, the background changes from white to black, and vice versa.
Possible that it's a representation of Day and Night? hmm.gif

Let's also not forget that the time, 10:10 also represent symmetrical position of the hands on the face of a watch/clock.
Possible that the movie deals with symmetrical concepts or ideas? hmm.gif

p/s: I managed to watch the trailer before it got taken down, and as always with Christopher Nolan’s movie trailer, it is filled with wonders that make one ponders. biggrin.gif

Bgm is pulsatile. Speaks volume & elevates the mood considerin editor & Nolan's restrictions when it comes to showcasin anything substantial in the teaser.

Was craving for Nolan to handle top-notch investigative thriller ever since Dark Knight. Seems this film might just be that. Would like the film to release sooner😂

Haha interesting.

These new gen actors are keeping up with old folks like Michael Caine. Now prefer sitting back as supporting.

Btw JD Washington is it Denzel Washington son? hmm.gif

Im wondering

If they drive the car backward, the white light will be on

So they will need to remove the connection to the white light for these scenes

In that case, probably movie goers have to see more than once since the film might end in reverse (the ending = the beginning) that sort of thing... tongue.gif

I do strongly believe the ending will not be conventional, there will be a "WTF" moment that will make you rethink everything you just watched.

Tenet movie reviews are already in.

Generally, reviews are quite bad. 1.5/5 from Indiewire and The Guardian gives it a 2/5.

Most other reviews are also quite bad - with some saying that it is not worth the Covid-19 risk to catch this in cinemas.

Didn't watch this trailer to keep the suspense.

...so it looks like this won't be "Inception" level mindf*** at this point.

It might end up having a lower RT score (or higher, but usually not the case). As long as not rotten, should be worth the watch.

I actually prefer the soundtrack they used on the second trailer. I think someone actually uplaoded a clean version but was quickly take down by WB.

Those that are currently available in YT is actually ripped from the movie with audio removed.

I have booked my ticket in IMAX on Thursday too rclxm9.gif

Felt lack a bit of oomph compared to Inception. But the basis of the story is about time inversion. Need to understand that concept a lot during the movie. Some scenes whereby the soundtrack was too loud and covered the conversations. Shall need to pay attention to the subtitles. Gonna watch it again this Sunday. 1st watch was on IMAX and the experience was awsome!

It's like watching Interstellar all over again. The last act betrays the first two set-up act. Pattison's casting came as distraction for me as you know full well you don't cast a recognizable actor just for the sake of sidekick role. Matt Damon??! The actors performances not the issues here. It's the story expectations that don't click for me.

Mind you, I'm not saying I understand what the hell is going on with time inversion and don't care if I don't get it. I felt it's just a ruse to move plot forward from a to b. Villain's motivation is one note and repeating the Memento-esque quality in how it's being resolved. No inclination to rewatch because it's bad or anything like that. Just that I'm getting restless with Nolan repeating what he has done before without breaking new ground. It's at a point of familiarity breeds contempt.

Watched this, quick lowdown:

- No Post Credit scene, so dont bother staying back unless you wanna listen to Travis Scott music in super deep bass boasted environment thumbsup.gif
- Soundtrack in music sounded very Dunkirk-esque. That what my first impression of this soundtrack. Would love get my hand on the soundtrack on it is released.
- I think there is variation of Travis Scott music in the movie abit in instrumental version.

That what i just realized too. I think the only Atmos is the one in (formally) GSC Pavilion?

I guess IMAX is teh next best choice.

Those in TGV do you hear the "Wub wub" on certain scene? In TGV they also censored the word Fuck. Not sure if the same does for GSC or not.

Watched it a couple of days ago, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I was expecting "Inception" level mind-numbing thinking but instead it was utter confusion in the second half tongue.gif No, that's not a bad thing once I did my own reading.

Once again, a Nolan film worth watching (and necessary if you want a better understanding) a second time.

No spoilers, but I knew the film was going to end in a way that will make you rethink from the start biggrin.gif

Overall, this has to be the most 'Nolan-istic' film to date - - the music score is tantalizing with inverted tunes while the visual effects are an absolute splendor + the use of time devices.

My absolute favorite moment of the movie has to be when The Protagonist steps out for the first time and everything is inverted (and he attempts to drive a car). I could literally feel it haha... such a brilliant sequence.

The creative use of inversion in the second half during the battle really makes the film one-of-a-kind.

Didn't watch it on IMAX due to distance and showtime, but this film was made for IMAX.

Highly recommended if you enjoy mindf*** movies + Nolan's previous works especially "Memento" & "Inception".

In terms of filmic quality + how mindblown it is compared to "Inception", yes, "Inception" is better at that but this film really holds on it own.

Interesting concept, but truly an awful movie. The dialogue in the first half is, and I'm not joking here, at least 90% exposition. It really was just expository dialogue randomly filmed in various locations around the globe. The effect would have been the same if they just filmed the entire half in a cold, dark office room. Would have possibly solved the terrible editing involved as well.

Second half is where most of the action happens, and they are half decent, but along with the indecipherable plot it all amounts to nothingness.

All the characters are uninteresting, all the actors are pretty terrible, John Washington mistakenly presumes that a pair of serious eyes and facial hair equate to acting and charisma. Terrible all round. The only one who looked like he was having a bit of fun was Branaugh.

This movie is weird, mindfuck half way, but once i got the grasp of it on 3rd act, it became mehhh. But overall impressive action scene. I would rate it below inception & interstellar. 4/5 for the action. But 2/5 cuz i kinda expect more from nolan "universe".

Having said that, Tenet managed to draw me out of my shell and visit an Imax cinema today and...

My head hurts (I don't think I have Covid-19 from this outing. At least I hope not... The things I do for youse...)

It hurts because my brain had to process all THAT info to "get" the movie...

So,

In Inception his explore human's thoughts/perceptions. The Dark Knight, Nolan explored, the darkness of the human psyche. Interstellar, space and in Tenet... time?

What will he think of next? Anti matter? Black Hole?

The start of the movie, is ironic.

The real world is still in the middle of a pandemic.

And the movie begins with a pack concert hall, and not for long...

The movie grabs your attention from the first frame, and does not really let go until the last frame...

I read as little as possible about the movie, before watching it and still, I did know that Robert Pattinson and Kenneth Branagh are in it.

Even with this knowledge, I was surprise to see them, when they appeared on the screen.

I like this feeling!!

Another surprise was to see a hydrofoil catamaran working. I have NEVER seen those before (No that I am very knowledgeable about nautical stuff).

This movie is... good.

I love the casting.

I love the story.

I love the direction.

I really don't want to spoil anything for you.

I have however promise you the following.

1). There are NO Beatles tracks.

2). There are NO sparkling vampires...

I will leave you this quote

QUOTE
His ignorance is our only protection.

This movie supposedly cost Warner Brothers USD 205,000,000 to make.

I think with everything happening, Warner may end up with a BIG winner, in terms of movie producer this year.

Keep safe everyone.

Yup, this is what i thought too. I hate this kinda mindfuck. Because i know its simple, its just inversion, whatever happens, happens.

I watched it once and then read up online once, and called it a day. biggrin.gif

It didn't engage me to go into depth as much as "Inception" which I kinda traversed forums and discussions for weeks after release.

Don't get me wrong, "Tenet" is a fantastic Nolan film that is high on entertainment value, but it is not as engaging as his previous works.

I agree.

And have to add, with the pandemic, I am kinda limiting myself to risking myself one time for each movie... sweat.gif

What do you guys think of Sator as a villain?

I think hes not that evil. Selfish yes, but not inherently evil.

His wife, Kat is not exactly innocent either, she conspires with Arepo to con him of his money, tries to murder him twice and generally does not seem to show any attribute of a good wife throughout the whole movie.

The movie also does not go into detail on why their marriage failed, one of the many things left to our imagination.

Most successful villains do not see themselves as villains. They only come ac-crossed as villainous....

They usually think they are right.

All boils down to intent

1. It is not a time travel movie but time inversion. If you are inverted, you still age. You won't become Benjamin Button. If you go inside the turnstile to be inverted for one year at the age of 30, you will be 31 years old when you enter back the turnstile. Sator received the tech from the future people (unknown) where they sends him gold as payment for retrieving the Algorithm pieces. Whatever Sator decides in the current moment will change whatever outcome of the new future. The future people gave him instructions on how to make the turnstile by burying it in the inverted capsules (remember when the gold bars he received on the yacht was inverted?) so that he can make use of it.

2. To close all loose ends about the knowledge of time inversion

3. Shot by Priya? She called The Protagonist using the special phone given to her in case she feels her life was threatened. As for shot by Sator, she does not know in advance.

4. You can't live long in reverted entropy. You eventually need to step back into the turnstile to be back to normal. In this case, Young Kat went into the turnstile to be inverted, and uninverted back to be back at Old Kat. This was shown off camera.

5. Neil lives in a loop. Kinda.
