Hi, Im a spm leaver and i would like pursue a career in IT. Im quiet confused between IPTA and IPTS. So i just wanna clear up a few questions. Well before that, im coming from a financially unstable family, but my mom is wiling to pay for IPTA eventhough she needs to struggle (ps: my mom is a singe parent) and i Got 6As & 4Bs for my SPM.

So..ummm.. my questions...

1) Is it harder for me to further my degree in IPTA if i do my Diploma in a Politeknik Premier
2) Should i just study in MMU for 4 years (foundation > degree) or should i go Poli then do my degree in IPTA (diploma in poli takes 3 years to complete)
3) Is it possible to further my degree in IPTA if i do my diploma in MMU?
4) UiTM - is it still only for bumiputera?

Please help me clear my doubts smile.gif) Thankks in advanceeeee smile.gif) icon_question.gif

Why MMU? If money is an issue, consider UTAR or TARUC.

I'd say go to Uni if you can target than a politeknik. You'll just prolong your path to a degree.

1. If you can get poli premier, take it. Nope, not harder if your result are good.
2. have you calculate the cost if MMU? also why MMU..
3. as long as that course is accredited you can
4. yes.

if you can get poli, just take it. cost wise cheaper, more practical than theory.

The only thing i worry about poli is it takes 3 years to complete diploma confused.gif And i chose MMU because i can apply PPTN for their foundation programme and also i'l be getting 15% discount. So if i go MMU i can complete foundation & degree in 4 years. But money wise, i prefer poli. Im just confused which one is worth ?

and try applying for scholarships and waiver. UTAR & TARUC provide waiver on tuition fees if the student excels.
Good luck.

A) What do you want to do for a living? IT is a freaking big industry with multiple career choices and paths.

B) Read up on what does person do or what is expected of that person.

C) Try to get a hold of the course details for the courses you're looking at.

D) Choose the one that you think will best prepare you for what you want to be.

When hiring I rarely look at paper qualification or which uni/college. What you know and your willingness to learn is more important.

Actually i want to learn software development. From what i've understood, if i take degree in software engineering i may venture into AI, Programming, mobile apps, Gaming technology and many more fields. I've always wanted to be a digital nomad, so i guess degree in Software engineering will help me.

If you kesian with your mum, go take diploma at poli. And apply ptptn. That way you dont trouble anybody.

That's how i was. Although im not from poli, but other ipta diploma. Other than the initial registration payment, not a single cent afterwards that i need to use parents money.

i suggest u go mmu. do foundation a year and degree another 3. just do 4 years and be done with it.

what matters more is not the course, but the people you will meet and network.

you seems like a bright student. so should be no issue for you to complete the studies on time.

im a mmu grad. eventhough i sucked at my studies, i never regret to know friends and mentors that i still can use until today.

good luck.

Lets say quality of study is the same.
Put estimate how much your cost for both option and how much your study loan would be.

Personally, dont worry about duration too much.

If u wish to pursue technical side, poli is the best choice. Its only 3 years. Then u can start working or pursue degree in uni.

cost to study at MMU is very expensive compare to politeknik. foundation to degree estimated 40-50k not inclusive living cost, pocket money, food etc.

there are high paying job course at politeknik which involve technical skill. example : welding, electrical (charge-man)

I was in the same situation before. rather than boring the thread with my stories.. here's what i can advice u.
1. You got money problem:- so your aim is to earn a higher education cert with cheap price and support your family.
2. MNC (IT) dont care about degree, only professional cert. so aim for that.

if degree is your aim - do stpm and apply local uni. cheaper.
dont ever think of doing degree from POLI. freaking takes 7 years of ur time. cos uni (local and priv) dont give credit transfer most of ur Diploma subject (even u got A+) .. so u would be learning the same shit again with younger sutdents than u.
or u can do Diploma in Poli, grad.. take up a HD job.. do profesional cert... and move on with your career from there.
KEY POINT: DEGREE Dont MATTER.. only profresional CERT.

btw.. dont have high hopes on matriculation.. if u dont get it .. dont be a cry baby and just do as what i advice u above.
very important advice!! get a chick when u are studying.. cos work place have NONE!!
