Hi guys, when I Google food diabetic patient should avoid i see white rice and bread are listed there. These are food that Malaysian eat everyday. So what should the menu for a diabetic living in Malaysia be like??? Bcs rice and bread are in almost every restaurant menu...

It is about controlling food intake, that could affect the spike in blood glucose.

Change from white rice to brown rice or wholemeal bread won't magically reduce blood glucose if one is still consuming large quantity.

Eat more vege, fruits type, aka those food with high grain and fiber that will slow down food glucose absorbing.

Some do, you can ask for it or order in advance.

Second option is look out for food delivery service.
Not deliver from restaurant but home cook food delivery service.
There, you can order with brown rice, vegetables, legumes, lentils, nuts, roots, fruits, spices.

You need to see both (i)dietitian and (ii)diabetic resource center (DRC).

The answer you looking for wont be simple one-liner. Its a comprehensive package in order to achieve good glucose control.

I usually spend at least 30 minutes for my regular diabetic patient and as long as 1 hour for newly diagnosed diabetics. The lifestyle modification required to prevent further long term micro and macrovascular complication is not easy, and attending doctor/nurse/dietitian should take every concern voiced by patient seriously.

And yes, my patient love me because of the holistic approach I practiced on how to tackle the issue.

You can eat whatever you want. Rice is great food! rice is a slow carbohydrate. If you eat them in the morning, you will feel full all day.
You should not eat a lot of foods with glucose. You can eat candy, but you do not need to eat a kilogram of candy.

Go on Barry Sear's Zone Diet.

The so-called 40/30/30 diet.

40 percent carbohydrates
30 percent proteins
30 percent fats

Lots of celebrities are on it - Bill Clinton, Tiger Woods,
Brad Pitt, Madonna, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Aniston,
Cindy Crawford, Demi Moore, Charlie Sheen, Bill Cosby.

Jennifer Aniston is probably the most famous proponent,
so they tend to refer to it as the Jennifer Aniston Zone Diet.

Follow it faithfully, and I'll guarantee you your diabetes
will be controlled within three months.

Because it reduces insulin resistance and circulating
insulin, it is also considered an antiaging diet.

Rajen, the boss of Total Health Concept, is also one of
its local proponents, so you could contact him for more
info.

I stumbled upon some youtube videos and JRE interviews and wanted to give it a try to see without really expecting any magical results. I've been doing it on and off for a year but very consistent for last 3 months (meaning lunch + dinner and skip breakfast), I feel much better and lost a bunch of weight but could probably just be due to cutting out sugar lol.

Since you are genuinely curious, and responded courteously.

Obviously most who follow keto will argue their way of life.
Just as a religious person would argue their god is the best.
There is always the other side of the argument. Go listen to it.

Ask experience heart surgeons if they do keto meals.
Carnivorous diets are not new, they have been around.
Name change, a few ingredients change, essentialy the same.

Atkin was one the former version names.
Dr Atkin died suddenly and mysteriously.
Then paleo now keto because it cause ketosis.

People find it to be effective at first but over time....
... how many heart specialists would keto or paleo long term.

I learn no matter how right is the facts, people often choose what they feel is nice or convenient. The psychological term is cognitive disonance. Besides who am I to say how others should live their life. If they want heart attack or cancer or diabetes, it is their choice. Enjoy yourself and have a nice day.
