Unlike other phone eg Mi A2 which required root or if not, need to install magisk etc.
Btw, just want to update that battery life is kinda phenomenal as well.

I have been using Mi A3 for a week, coming from Honor 10's 1080p LCD display I don't really notice any pixellation. Maybe my eyes are not that sensitive.
I read GSMArena review mentioning about jagged text in the display and went to check out the phone in a Xiaomi outlet, didn't notice it and straightaway bought it. The rest is like Ehtan Hunt mentioned in the previous page. Pretty good camera, amazing battery life. Built quality is also on par with Honor 10. Vast improvement compared to my Redmi note 4 from couple years ago. Gaming performance also good. It only feels 1 degree celcius warmer after playing Mobile Legends for half an hour, with the stock provided transparent casing on. |

QUOTE(~_Ev0_Zer0_~ @ Aug 7 2019, 12:26 AM) Guys, if compared to Realme 3 Pro, which one is better? in terms of the camera, been considering phone under RM899 and Realme 3 Pro and Mi A3 have been considered. Planning to use the phone for daily driver and not intended for high intense gaming. QUOTE(Ethan Hunt @ Aug 7 2019, 09:04 AM) If camera, IMHO Mi A3 is way better. Equipped with the IMX586 which can be found on flagship device as well, while Realme 3 Pro only use IMX519. You can't compare the camera quality just by quoting the model of the camera sensor. The sensor is just one part of the camera module. One drawback of the imx586 sensor is its tiny pixel size which means less details in low light especially on cheap/midrange phones without OIS. Even with pixel binning you can see that there are less details in low light in the Mi A3 camera review vs the Realme 3 pro/A2/Pocophone. This was something I saw when I compared the new RN7 with the Mi A2 review camera samples. In the future if Mi A3 got Gcam port, then it will perform way better than it is now. Btw, if you wanna use for gaming also Mi A3 is snappy with High / Ultra setting, thanks to the 720p resolution. That doesn't make the RN7 or Mi A3 bad, the cameras are quite good actually but not "way better" than the Realme 3 pro as you have said. The R3pro camera quality is on par with its Xiaomi competitors. The Realme 3 pro supports camera2api in stock rom so no need for root (but allows rooting) and also has working gcam ports for better pictures. You're making it sound more difficult than it is. There is no need to root permanently, install magisk etc to enable camera2api on the Mi A2 for gcam.Unlike other phone eg Mi A2 which required root or if not, need to install magisk etc. Btw, just want to update that battery life is kinda phenomenal as well. You just need to enable usb debugging and run a few commands, then relock the bootloader. Its a one-time job and stock rom updates will not be affected. |

Sensor is just one part. mi9t stock vs gcam in extreme low light gcam so much more details. However in moderate low light gcam sucks. But yeah, ois is good, big sensor is good. The RN7 had a weird white balance/magenta tint issue when it was released as well, maybe it got fixed in updates. The R3pro got released later so the updated/tweaked RN7 got compared to the R3pro in many reviews. The exposure/dynamic range is better on the R3pro vs RN7 from more recent reviews so they are quite close in terms of camera quality. Googling showed that the R3pro is going to get updates to fix the yellow oversaturation among other things on the camera.Imx586 is on almost all china flagships...some has better details than other, so it's down to respective noise reduction & processing. I'm currently using two phones:
iPhone SE (released in 2016) --> personal phone Google Pixel (also released in 2016) --> work phone I'm looking at the Mi A3 because (a) I need a dual-SIM phone to replace these two phones above; and (b) I'm a fan of using stock Android. I've done lots of reading and video-watching on reviews on the A3 for the past week (including going through this exact forum page) and finally just now I was able to get me hands on one at a nearby Mi Store. The below 3 things were observed: - The 720p display is not as bad as I was expecting it to be. I opened this exact forum page in the A3 and scrolled a bit; texts are crisp enough for my liking actually. However, the icons on the phone (especially round ones) and the rounded edges on the 4 corners of the phone are noticeably jagged (a.k.a. not a smooth round shape). For me personally, it is not a deal-breaker and I can live with it. - The colors on the display are incredibly rich and full (again, for my liking; I'm coming from two 3-year-old phones) and I actually quite enjoyed myself reading through news articles with photos on the A3. Guess that's Super AMOLED doing its thang. - Opened this exact forum page on all 3 phones, and switching back and forth between my 2 phones and the A3 did not give me any sort of viewing experience upgrade/downgrade impressions. The obvious differences that I could see were the jagged round icons and the richer colors on the A3, and that's about it. TDLR version --> if you're coming from really old phones (3 years old at least), the Mi A3 can be considered. |

QUOTE(Ethan Hunt @ Aug 20 2019, 01:47 PM) yeah, this. My iPhone SE's battery life is total rubbish at this point (I haven't changed the battery since I bought it in 2016). My Pixel fared better, but maybe it's because I don't use it as often as the iPhone.QUOTE(Ethan Hunt @ Aug 20 2019, 01:49 PM) ho lee schittttttt |
