I won't be surprised to see other banks following suit in the future. PPL access cost money to the banks and when the banks are not earning enough from consumer spendings, this is bound to happen. (I.e lower MDR income)

On another hand, let's see whether this translates into less PPL crowds.

Stern warning to members on SST waivers. Masking the word does not escape the violation. Strong consequence action if this found anywhere in the credit card section - many warnings have been given and no more soft approach from hereon.

I'll put it this way and it may not be an answer that everyone will like.
The SST is not waiverable as gov will collect that money one way or the other and that's a fact. The bank CS using the term it does not change the fact that the term is being used incorrectly. This incorrect term has been impassively allowed here for a long time and have been many uncomfortable discussions arising from this subject over years and (not too long ago) in greater frequencies. Thus the change is warranted and there's no turning back from this change.

We have already created a way which such "gifts" from the bank can be communicated safely here and will stand firm on such.
