I am so so so mad...I have called Maxis like I ..am not sure how many times...I have upgraded to 30Mbps during the promotion roll out and since then I am having issues, earlier with their 10Mbps, I never faced any issue. I am staying in a double storey usj house and I can barely get an internet connection in the lower ground. My fiber cable is connected to the router in the upper floor room.

I was a subscriber of unifi and it was good, I changed to Maxis when they introduced the 10mbps..and that was good as well. But now..with the 30Mbps..the network is really bad..I am assuming it is the router, hence I have got it changed, but there is no difference. The speed test shows the same, youtube videos can't load and I am not even downloading any torrents in the house.

I am really tired, the first technician who came said, the area has issue, the second came and said..it's not the area, but he didn't change the router, he said, I could get the wifi range extender or something like that, but my question was why must I go for that, when I have signed a contract with Maxis for 24 months, why can't they give a good router, the 3rd technician came and changed it to the SAME model...and he even asked me, when they first upgraded and changed the router, did they ask you to buy a booster, I said no..no one told me that, he then told me to purchase a router from Shopee as he said, that would work better. Right now, Maxis Home Fibre comes with the TPLink router.

Please help..how are your experiences...and should I change to a different router, if so..which one..Speed test varies of course, as I barely get good speed at the ground floor.

I can say it is router issue. Perhaps the model has weak transmit power or/and poor reception sensitivity.

Repeater or booster will just lower your speed more. Reason is WiFi is half duplex transmission. During transmit it cannot listen and during receive it cannot transmit, like walkie talkie.

Imagine from router to your laptop takes 1s and so does from your laptop to router. So, complete transmission takes 2s. If you use repeater/range extender, then now it is from router to extender and then only to laptop. Now round trip will become 4s total.

I know you will ask why I need to buy my own router. The problem is, Maxis or even Tm will have same standard router and the model they used probably get good deal from manufacturer (probably need to clear stock laugh.gif )

I bought my own and has no problem to cover 2 storey house and I can still get about 200Mbps upstairs. My routers is downstairs and located even in front end of the house.

First make sure it is not the line issue but router's, by speed testing near the router. You should get >=27 Mbps, consistently.

If confirmed line okay, disable the 5ghz, use only 2.4 which is sufficient for light usage. Disable the IPv6 too. Set the wifi channel to Auto-detect and do setup schedule reboot every 2~3 days.

If error persists, then you have few choices:

1. Relocate your router to middle/central point of your house

2. Change the router to Mesh pair where Maxis charges RM300 a unit.

3. Change the router to better brand/spec. Mid-range Asus should suffice.

4. Use extender.

5. Since you mentioned previous router was okay, you may try get Maxis to provide you the previous model but at 30 Mbps line speed. They should consider your request once you showed them that many tickets you logged for the same issue.

My Maxis Tplink also not stabled initially. After I disabled 5ghz & IPv6, plus some automated router firmware updates later, it is stable now.

Hope this helps.
