So I got a pair of JBL GTO609C installed at the front of my car, paired with SONY MEX-N4200BT HU and I'm now wondering what would be the best for the rear in order to have a balanced setup(clear, crisp and bassy) A pair of coaxial speaker? I don't have rear door speaker, my rear speaker is located on the board right behind the passenger seat. Any suggestion is appreciated, thanks!

firstly, your JBL GTO609C is original? there are many imitation goods out there
better to get amplifiers to drive them, and get a subwoofer for the rear

No need rear speaker unless u want watching movies inside ur car.

If only for listening song, imagine u are watching concert and that singer singing in front of u not behind

Original JBL have deep bass yet clear and crisp high, but imitation ones sound terrible
what are you looking for from the rear speakers? is it for people sitting behind to listen to songs or you need bass? or you feel the sound staging is not good?
if you need bass, then subwoofer is needed
i suggest to get an amplifier to drive your JBLs first, so to extract the max out of them.

I've never tried listening it from behind. I just want the whole of my car to have a balanced yet good simple upgrade. I don't know if it's just my weird feeling, I feel like the rear of my car gonna sound weird with those stock speakers paired with the JBL at front. Will they?

Why need rear speaker unless you sitting behind all the time and not at front at driver seat? If really need just get a pair of cheap speaker for the sake of it. Normally a pair of front speaker will be enough to fill the whole car and the rear seat will still hear the music.
This been said, you need the front to play loud to fill the car. Therefore an amp would be the best solution. As for what amp? then its budget time.. go to any friendly installer to see what they have.
Just imagine a concert hall or such.. All musician and singer are all at front.. so speaker in front will do... Don't confuse yourself with Cinema with speaker at the back.. those rear speaker are for effect and such... you not watching movie in the car.. if music just the front will do... in a concert hall they don't put speaker at the back right? for those sitting at the back/rear right?

amp is all depending on your budget, and you only need 2 channel or you want to buy 4,5,6 channels for future upgrade.
and also depends on what type of music you like. clearity or only bass.

Me too do not recommend for rear speaker. My car originally comes with rear speaker only. i took the effort to bring the speaker to the front. If you wan to have better sound stage invest on 2 way or 3 way. You may add a sub at rear thou but need to do time alignment so that the low freq will reach your ear together with front speaker.

Unless u driving a big car and wanted to share your music to your passanger then only consider rear speaker.

Now I can understand you better after doing some research according ti this issue, thank you so much for enlightening me! I think I will just leave the JBL GTO609c(component)in the front and disconnect the rear factory speakers. I'm not an audiophile nor a pro, but from what I know, this pair of speaker is good at producing clear, crisp sound with just enough bass. So now I'm thinking about getting an amp to further improve the sound quality, any good and affordable recommendation? As for the subwoofer, if I were to add in one in the future, I will either place them underneath the seat or on the deck behind the rear passenger seat. Does it sound correct?

But it's a component speaker I'm having in the front now I thought it's already 4 channel since the tweeter and the mid bass are seperated? I listen to basically every kind of music, but mostly hip-hop and some love song. I want the sound to be clear and crisp, with decent bass will do. I don't need an earthshake kind of bass.. I might add in the shallow depth kind of subwoofer at the rear deck of my car since it saves spaces and I could just mount it on top? For such setup, do you have any good yet affordable amp to recommend?

I was gonna post it there initially but then I couldn't find any category related to audio so... haha you sifus are here so why not just let me have your opinions first. I'm so afraid so hear the time-alignment word.. time-alignment=$$ and my current HU doesn't support that.....The setup you are talking about sounds just like the setup I'm after, my front speaker is a component speaker, and I'm planning to further upgrade it later on with an amp at the rear(placing it either underneath the seat or the on the rear deck, don't know which is good but I definitely don't want a big box in my trunk) So after listening to the advices from you all, now I'm in the dilemma of choosing an good yet affordable amp..

since you already have component then add in an amp will give u more listening headroom. If you are serious next time u can try to explore on 3 way component and install pillar speaker to improve soundstage. if u r not into those just add a amp and add an underseat sub then shd have improvement over stock component
