Hello, I need a recommendation for a Business or a more Premium Laptop.
I'm using Lenovo Y520 currently. (i5-7300HQ, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD + 1000TB)

1. Budget: around 5k

2. Usage: For online business. Need multitasking such as open a lot of browser tabs running Website, FB ads, Excel, Youtube, etc. No preference for the graphic card because no gaming at all, but it would be good if available.

3. Requirements:

15" display is still preferable, with numbering keypad.
Battery life 4-5 hours or if longer is better.
Weight should be lighter than my current Y520 2.4kg.
I have confidence in Lenovo quality - the Y520 is solid and stable after 2 years+ usage.
The Lenovo Y540 looks good, but i'm not sure should i still go for a gaming laptop which i don't game at all.

- 4k display would be nice
- SSD at least 512GB
- Screen size 15 inch
- Battery can tahan around 5-6 hours
- Nice travel distance for keyboard and if possible a full numpad
- Security like fingerprint scanner or face recognition etc
- Would be great if ada USB C and HDMI
- Don’t want a gaming laptop that sticks out like crazy
- keyboard backlit

Lenovo Legion Y530 81FV01DUMJ seems good enough for me but there's no HDD storage... if I do video editing it wont be enough.. Any laptop with bigger storage but maybe compromising on the graphic card? I think for me overall performance > graphic card.

My thinking is less than 10K I am able to propose comfortably to my boss.

The problem is if I tell him I need 16GB ram he will base model everything and get 16gb ram. It is fine, but I am not sure how much processing power this software needs. I work in science stuff (proteomics, metabolomics etc) so my laptop would need to be able to crunch a significant amount of data in a short period of time.

OLED is not necessary, but it is mainly for sometimes I need to show stuff on my laptop to people it will just look better. Only reason I am doing my own research is to also slightly future proof the laptop. Especially in term of processing power. As science research gets more advance I will need my laptop to crunch more data.

Main use for the laptop is presentations so ports plays a factor, processing power since it will need to crunch significant amount of data, 16GB ram cause that is the minimal requirement for the new software to run, highly portable since I am on the road or in a flight >50% of my work time. The OLED is more aesthetics and not an actual need (like if you're trying to sell a car you would make sure it is clean and smells nice... while I am trying to tell people to give me more money I need to dazzle them a bit so an OLED would make my models looks better that is all... I know this doesn't matter when I am using a projector but sometimes I do not have access to projector).

Integrated graphic
480gb SSD and 1TB HDD (Caddy)
Looking for recommendation for replacement.

Status: Brand New or USED
Purpose: for work, photo/video editing and some causal gaming
Preference: better or same spec as current laptop..has DVD drive so that I can swap in my 1TB HDD (lazy to make it as external)

How is Acer Swift quality & reliability? Company used to use 5 different Acer models but the qualities were really bad and couldn't last long. With Windows the machines just keep getting slower and slower.

If I were to revise my requirements to up to RM3,000, 13" screen, but still less than 1.2kg weight, what would be the recommendations - apart from Acer?

For this model, there is an option to get 1x of 8gb ram, or 2x 4gb ram. Which is better choice?

And if i take 2x 4gb, how to i know which ram is soldered on? I guess if 1x 8gb, its gonna be soldered on right?

Thanks bro. Meaning if i choose 2x 4gb, 1 will be soldered, and more will be unsoldered (sodimm). So if i wan to upgrade in future, i can replace the unsoldered slot. And i still can run dual channel, right?

What does it mean by asynchronous? Ram won’t works as good as 2x of 4gb?
