What do you think, y530 or custom gaming laptop?
*
Y530 is out of your budget

So you want gaming laptop instead of regular laptop?

Ideapad C340 seems like a really good deal?

Ryzen 7 3700U
8GB RAM
512GB SSD
RX Vega 10 (?)

All this for RM2633.

This is what I have in mind.

1. Budget : 3k or less
2. Usage : Mostly for programming. Need something that can run Android Studio smoothly.
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : 1920x1080 Display (tired of 1366x768 when coding), decent battery life (5 hours?). Don't need dGPU but if within budget why not. Lightweight would be nice (<2kg).

Was initially looking at T495 and X395 but the C340 seems really tempting. Tho I'm only looking at Lenovo atm due to the 45% discount, not sure if there are better prices on different brand.

Looking at the specs of 3500U and 3700U, slight difference in clock speed. Based on very benchmark I could find, there isn't much of difference. iGPU also difference but doesn't really matter to me. Should I go with T495 instead since it's lighter and have longer battery life?

Price is around the C340 based on specs I picked.

Just saw Commandos Glock 5 which is on clearance. Customizing the parts and I get RM2634 for i5-9400, 8GB, 1050Ti. Though weight will go up all the way to 2.4kg. Couldn't find anything on battery life but considering it's a gaming laptop, probably bad? The better CPU is very tempting.

If you want to buy laptop here, you need international warranty which is only found in most business laptops (Asus has global warranty but their warranty sucks)

tbh I'll get T495 or X395 over C340. Business grade is always better. r5 and r7 only got slight difference in GPU performance

If you want >5 hrs battery life and <2kg weight for 3k or less, better go regular/business laptops

Think I'll go with the T495. Hopefully the 3500U is more than capable for my needs. Used to my desktop setup and couldn't stand it when I see my friends' laptop laggging during startup.

Is dGPU a must? Since I don't think your usage requires it

10 hrs is a bit too much...fine with >8 hrs?

No preference on display size? Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradeable RAM?

This is what I currently have. Any recommendation for modification? I added some unnecessary stuff like IR Camera for Windows Hello just for convenience instead of fingerprint since I heard the camera is more reliable than fingerprint.

dGPU is dedicated GPU. Laptop usually comes with integrated GPU. dGPU is way more powerful than iGPU but usually comes with a price.

Get 8GB onboard RAM. Add 8GB later by yourself for dual channel

If you want high sRGB display, get 400 nits option

If I remembered correctly, if you add IR camera then you won't have Thinkshutter

Remember to add warranty upgrade to 2/3 yrs
