wanna ask, anyone here tried to import top coat or primer spray can from oversea to malaysia?

btw, compare to the bottle mr. surcafe and the spray can's one... which one is better?
*
Dunno where i heard this news! I remember someone told me that those paints or stuff with alcoholic stuff in it has some problem when importing in to Malaysia!

QUOTE(fyire @ Oct 30 2007, 11:35 PM)
here's a little tip for you then smile.gif Never ever paint pure flat white and pure flat black, unless you've got all the time in the world to put on so many coats lar smile.gif

If you're doing white, add a tiny drop of black into the mix (just enough to reduce the white by a tiny shade that its not really noticeable unless u really scrutinize it. This will help to strengthen the pigment.

Same goes for blacks as well. Add a tiny drop of white into the mix. While blacks do not require as many layers as white, doing this will make the result less prone to getting dirty.

Yup unless u r playing with shading effect that is another story!

I'm talking about those models like Hyaku Shiki 1st ver, Those special Coating versions. It will not just get dull it will turn black!

I don't see much of a problem wrapping it with "Transparent plastics", not supermarket plastic, ZIPLOCK should also do the trick. Yea sure it will give out some reflections but so do display cabinets, you can laugh but that is what I did to my Hyaku Shiki after what I saw happened to my metallic MG: GP01-FB, Zeta, RX-78-2. They all have these black spots on the silver metallic parts. Worse of all you can't touch up those paints since Bandai using electrodes to coat them, no paint will give you that shiny mirror look.

Maybe spraying those Gloss coating might work but I dunno, depending on how Bandai coated those metallic it either melt off or it stays shiny. Try spraying perfumes on one of your BB Gundam Gold Horns and you'll see what I mean. Turns em to Chrome.

Added on November 1, 2007, 3:15 pmBy the way I'm looking for a Compressor, a cheap but reliable one. I'm using those Mr.Gunzo Airgun. Do I need a regulator or vent so pressure will not build up when I'm not spraying the gun (compressor still running).

What's the power rating, price I should be looking at? Can it be found in hardware shops or just the modelling shops stated above?

Also what is the recommended practice when handling compressors? Need time out every 15 minutes?
*
Basically those gold becoming dull is really an issue that cant be solve if u want to display them! Even real gold surface get dull after a certain amount of time expose under the atmosphere (especiall Malaysia wet wet weather)! For real gold ppl polish it! But i dun think those coated one can be done!

Vacuum packing may help but not pretty at all! Maybe we should just give up the coated one and we custom color the kit!

For the compressor i cant help u much, me myself using those that have auto cut-in cut-out compressor that comes with air tank and water gauge! It wont overheat and can AB a kit for 1 day straight! But if those normal one! U need to turn off the power every 10 -15 minutes to let it cool down!

Hi All.... Hot Items ...

remember several month past, there a post in another forum (ScaleModelsMalaysia) for buying Moldex Respirator + Multigass filter ???

that thread is on again... here the link ... (register lo if u not a member yet)

http://z12.invisionfree.com/ScaleModelsMal...wtopic=2804&hl=
Q: why buy Moldex Respirator + Multigass filter ?
A: you can get poison smelling too much thinner/alcohol/spary can and paining material. even Art Student are compulsory to buy them.
if u wish to play with Airbrush ... try to invest in these stuff ... if your room do not have enough AIR space ....
some more those sell in ACE hardware store that can filltered multigass are far more expensive than this ... try check it out ....
*
Wow not bad i would like to get one too but i lazy to go register at other forum lah! Maybe u can represent him in this forum?

Humbrol is another enamel paint and have a very large range of color. Provided our local store have stock it enough. Humbrol ams tamiya enamel paint is mean for plastic paint, So it is save.

One good think about enamel paint is, it is thin, easy to apply and dry fast.
*
Enamel paint usually dries slower. not faster.

I mean apply direct without mix. I using humbrol before. It very liquid, thin and dry fast.
*
Hmm not sure about humbrol, but for Tamiya Enamel it dries way slower than those acrylic paint making it possible for u to rub of the pain

QUOTE(sunnyboy @ Jan 22 2008, 02:19 PM)
totally agree....especially on f91...where 100% abs joint....

but then even on soft rubber joint, dun used on it as well...unless u hav a layer of paint over it...if direct contact...bye bye tp ypur gundam sweat.gif
*
My F91 leg joint broke after i AB it.........even without using Enamel......i think too many thinner also make the ABS joint weak!

Find a big carton cut an opening in the wide surfaces then on the other side cut a smaller hole to place the ventilator in it (those kitchen ventilator onli cost around RM25-50). Now u got urself a place for AB and Spray can!

I saw one at the multifilla balakong. The uncle sell it in package Compressor + AB. Not sure what is the price cause interesting on another bigger quiet compressor. Probally between range rm400 - rm600.
*
I bought my set of AB + Compressor from them too! And i bought the expensive Compressor which comes with Air Tank & Water gauge! For RM1000+-

QUOTE(VincC454 @ Jan 29 2008, 02:42 PM)
i just spray on my balcony...for years of spraying never use any booth...lol...maybe im going to die soon...

i on ceiling fan full force then spray...the fume will linger in that area for few minutes...

while ab i will on the fan...but when handbrush...i will off it..cause it will make my paint dry faster...its ok if it dry fast on the kit..but the one that still in the mixing bowl also dry fast doh.gif
*
Damn i do painting in my living room without fan and mask! I think i will die soon too!

wanna ask sumthin, i dip a some part of my gunpla (the v-fin) into mr thinner, to strip off the paint on those part coz want to repaint it back, after i dip it n took out, then wash with water n lap it to make it dry...i try to fix it to the head (pre-assemble le lebuh kurang),n it kinda loose n need to apply some cement if want to attach it back..so what i want to ask here, is the mr thinner really eat the plastic, n if it does, how to avoid it?i dip that part juz for a few second,kacau2 skit kasi tanggal warna, not dip it for a day....

n one more thing, if i juz apply the surfacer directly to the painted part (means that i don't strip the paint 1st like what i did above)it still can stick well on the surface ke?coz malas le if dia tak lekat kat surface n snang tanggal....

p/s:sory le if my word can confuse u all,hehe....
*
wow u were lucky ur V fin did not break! Although Mr Thinner was meant for plastic but if u place the plastic in it too long chemical effect will still happen! And when it does it stuff on ur precious V-fin icon_idea.gif may become very easy to break! Just like wat happen to my F91 leg joint!

i read from internet that a compressor from taiwan AS18
got autostop function but i think dont have air tank one...
anybody has it and can explain why???
*
Maybe it has auto cut off after reaching certain temperature! But those Compressor without air tank arent really very good!
U may have to stop AB in the middle of certain color due to overheat! And i really ruins thing out!
