The movie may give more questions than answers but it's Mamoru Oshii. He wants to make you think. Personally, i find it one of the best movies i've watched so far other than GITS which has an actual serious theme behind it.

they given a hint bout kildren, they are some sort of product manufactured for war, they dun grow old. once dead they are being replaced (with same person) the cycle keep on. as beginning of the show, that guy was killed n soon enough being replace by his other self. explanation arent needed as the show only tell briefly bout who they are n nothing more. that should be sulficient.

though thru out the show, i think the 'teacher' is no other but the original kannami.

GITS is better la , at least the movie let us think something meaningful eg "science vs god"
but sky crawlers .....

Mamoru Oshii is telling YOU to go f*** your own mind. Think harder.

PS - I don't remember there being a mention of God in GITS. It's more of a man and machine thing like Matrix. Only less action and more story.

Sky Crawlers is mostly slow and boring - but I think its absolutely fabulous.

The Sky Crawlers is more like an effort to understand life and find meaning. The Kildren spend their days repeating a dull routine, fighting for entertainment and ultimately die in the skies.

Oshii wishes to send message to the youth of today. What brought you to where you are now? Why are you doing the things you do now? What meaning does it bring at the end? Is there an end, and if you reach it, what is there?

The Kildren, especially Kannami, spends his days wondering if his life has any meaning at all. Suito, having survived all her late comrade goes through the worst suffering and she goes through the cycle of suffering over and over and over.

If you're not the type to read between the lines, Sky Crawlers is not for you. Simpletons like you should go watch Sky Girls instead.

Like i said in #lowyat, though The Teacher somehow broke the cycle, he too, cannot fully run away. He still ends up in the different company on the opposite side, shooting down other pilots as he did for Rostock.

We exist only for the entertainment of people, do we have feelings and if we do, what do we see in a future where we are forever to kill and be killed, to never have any memories, nor grow up.

I don't usually look for hidden meanings in a movie, but I thought sky crawlers are okay.



The bad part about sky crawlers is that while it seems like a character driven show, all of the characters aren't really that well developed, and that you couldn't really feel a whole lot towards them. And the show leaves one feeling very empty (or at least I do), because it has no resolution - or a resolution simply doesn't exist.

Which is the point of the pilots. There is NO resolution whatsoever for them. They're stuck in a loop and can't get out.

Yeap, and that is why it's feeling very empty. Very.

Note that I am not saying the story is empty or anything in a bad way, but the show makes you feel very empty (helpless against the reality).

But maybe I shouldn't say Sky Crawlers is just okay. It's a pretty decent show that I'd recommend anyone who can take slow pace anime.

Moat of Oshii's movies are like that, lol.

I hope they have a series for this some how for GITS I like the 1st gits more, this 1 I feel its abit of a remake of GITS 2 in the sense of the slowness the clock the people looked abit like the motoko doll in GiTS2 too. Maybe cos I watched the Gits series before I watched the movie.
