I'm looking a new Lenovo laptop for student use + web browsing + Ms Office work
If you're only going to use it for those purposes, I would suggest you get the ThinkBook instead of the IdeaPad Gaming

Some ThinkBook can still fit your RM3K budget

Do you know that warranty is just a extra selling point for the co to earn more money?
Usually 1 year warranty is sufficient, any other problem (hardware failure) is easy to fix on your own.
So everyone in the world knows how to replace the LCD panel, they know how to replace the motherboard by themselves is it?
Spending RM300 for the 3 year onsite warranty is worth it in case the motherboard dies within that 3 year warranty period. You think motherboard replacement costs only RM300?

So far the lenovo laptop I use can last more than 3 years without warranty claim before.
And because it doesn't happen to you, it will never happen to anyone else?

I never consider extended warranty a bad investment. It's a good investment to me and a lot of other people
So instead of dumping a 1 year old laptop which the motherboard has suddenly died, I & a lot other people can rest easy that our laptops is insured for at least 3 years no matter what happens so long as we don't cause physical damage to it

Mechanical failure? Apa ni? sweat.gif

ZM Fong have you seen this before?

Edit: Nevermind, just googled it, found out it's either one of these things:
1. Airplane failure
2. Truck failure
3. Train failure (less unlikely)

Dah la Lenovo lambat, UPS pun lembab jugak doh.gif

Below is just 1 of the parcel, there are 4 more, all of them still stuck in UPS China warehouse since 1 February

Is this a good model and price worthy?
1. IdeaPad for 4K? Definite no
2. Not worth it to get the i7 as it's still a 4 core 8 thread processor just like the i5

need more than 8 weeks to ship the item. Is there anyway to push this shipping date earlier?
Just ignore that 8 weeks ETA
For Legion Ryzen 5, usually it's shipped within 2 ~ 3 weeks, I got mine in 2 weeks
QUOTE(mindspring @ Feb 16 2021, 08:17 AM)
If need it fast, why not Illegear Onyx V Ryzen.
Because Illegear onsite warranty is crap whistling.gif

But I guess they just come and collect only.
That's why
And they also only do that in KL & Selangor. If you're outside of Klang valley, you will have to courier the laptop back to them

Whereas Dell, HP & Lenovo premium onsite warranty covers everywhere you go, even if you're at kampung or overseas

That's just an estimation
Most of us get our Legion 5 within 2 weeks. Including me

Sorry if unrelated, is it only lenovo site can customize?
Any other brand can also do like this?
Illegear & Level51 can do customization too, but with some caveats
Level 51 does not offer onsite repairs at all. They only offer onsite pickup, which means you might still have to wait between 2 ~ 3 weeks for repairs to be done and for the laptop to be shipped back to you
Illegear only provide onsite repairs for KL & Selangor. If you travel to other states or other countries, you're screwed

That leaves you with Lenovo being the only one that can do customization with good onsite warranty support

by asking stupid questions.
I hate that too LOL. Asking us to do this and that when we already know what's the problem & just want them to send their technician over to fix it. Happens with Dell, Lenovo & HP sweat.gif

Does anyone know if the warranty for Legion 5 Pro 2021 will apply in Malaysia if the unit was bought in SG?
Ask Lenovo directly. They will be able to answer that question
