my number is 016-261XXXX, it a 64k sim card.

anyone got receipt or warranty card together with you phone? mine seem to be missing.
*the 2Gig is listed as 1.89G in the phone.
*
don't worry, u'll received HP invoice later. wink.gif

old batch sim....u mean the sim card number or phone number?

my sim card number is 16 07********** is this one u mean about?
*
ya, older batch sim seem won't face such problem.

check the numbers from the sim, nothing to do with phone no.

I did ask another fren do same test, which totally NO SUCH problem at all.. her sim card was start from 0164 12xx.

sorry...wrong infor on my both sim.

1607-0119 was my 1st sim, once u travel to another/any location, the connection totally DEAD.

1607-0118 is current sim, it still facing the same problem, BUT it does reduce.

sorry, i thought u were mentioning about the phone number..... my sim card number is 1607022*********

so meaning my current is 7, so i need to look for older one, right?
edited to add --> iRon, your connection still drop after connected to PC a while? (when you are not moving)
*
obviously, urs is 7 022x which newer than mine.

I not sure still can find/get older batch sim (from the S/N)..

I was told (fren work in maxis CS) certain batch of SIM does face the compatible issue with certain phone. This is why I suspect its SIM batch problem with iPAQ 512.

Note, iPAQ 512 + maxis sim and SE W610 + digi sim wont face such problem..weird only when iPAQ 512 + digi sim.. doh.gif

Not that often already, after i got the older S/N sim.
EDGE connection dint face any drop when online at home with new sim. (older sim, yes, sometime need reset the phone few times... sweat.gif rclxub.gif )

When travel from certain place to another still will face such can't access net issue, but it did reduce compare to older sim.

I mail/call to HP+DiGi CS...all answer has no idea why.. laugh.gif laugh.gif
so..troubleshoot myself better.

iRon, would u like me to send one in as well regarding the connection issue?

i will go to digi specialist center to select the phone number & do the setting for my phone later....but I may only can use the phone only tomorrow after they activate my phone number.......will share with u about the result of  edge connection.. shocking.gif
*
tell u....on those "Dealer, specialist center" as I know, they need to fax ur infor back to DiGi HQ, normally these procedure take about (if fast) 7 hours - 48 hours (if slow). Depend on how fast "dealer/specialist center" they fax it out.

If u go DiGi HQ, the activate task will take less than 10 minutes. sweat.gif

and how to disconnect the edge with the phone? Until now I still not be able to call out but can receive the call why? icon_question.gif

Just install ActiveSync from da CD will do.

For PC access net, not necessary to install anything, just do as ante5k said (start->internet sharing->connect) , then plug in the USB cable to PC will do.

btw, iRonTech, did u try the following software ?

http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php

http://www.download.com/TZ-Connection-Boos...4-10225668.html

install with hp phone or notebook? TQ? icon_question.gif
*
no.. does those "speed boooster" "TCP Optimizer" help up?

IMO..i dont think so..as the speed fast slow, still depend on your area GPRS/EDGE signal station's slot.

try use http://www.speedtest.net/ & http://testmy.net test, it most accurate.

iRonTech, do u think with the data card, will it solve the disconnecting problem? blush.gif
*
other GPRS/EDGE device (some other phone like SE W610i/W850i i using, or GPRS/EDGE data card/router) will not face such problem.

It seem the "idle disconnect" din't work fine, as I install Smart GPRS Traffic monitor could see the IP remain in "dead" mode. sweat.gif I'm thinking..if the connection doesn't close well, it might consume battery as it keep establish the connection..

Yest HP call me up, ask me send the gadget to flash newer version ROM, will update after.

iRon, which version of ROM are using now?

anyone notice that the battery becomes hot and drain lots of power when used as a modem?
*
Nothing to do with the ROM on this matter. Its normal.

Theory very simple, when the GPRS/EDGE data packets in & out, it required more power on it. While the PC/Notebook USB charging power amp is lower than the data required, thus you'll see the battery drain fast.

Try this, connect to internet, but try not browse/download anything from web about 20 minutes, u'll see the battery level getting more & more. (you can try celetask)

I've tried use the USB pocket harddisk USB cable which two input to one output, it din't help up as well.. sweat.gif

QUOTE(asiatrader98 @ Sep 19 2007, 09:27 AM)
yes, the "idle disconnect" din't work fine....i have to charge my battery today.... mad.gif i shall turn off the phone before i sleep

Added on September 19, 2007, 9:32 am
yes, we have to turn off when u do not want to connect blush.gif
i think i will find out the data card to replace for this purpose (as a modem) hmm.gif
*
Just back from HP, as HP technical flash the newer GSM/Radio Rom for my gadget. But obviously it din't help up... sweat.gif laugh.gif After flash, I tried online from HP Tower location, it works fine. But then, when I back to office (subang area), the connection dead again..

Previous Radio ROM:-
Radio Firmware Version: 1.020
Radio Protocol Stack Version: 1.020

Current Radio ROM:-
Radio Firmware Version: 1.021
Radio Protocol Stack Version: 1.021

So.....so..so..... I think I better hunt for those older batch sim card replacement, for permanent solution. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif tongue.gif

if $$ isn't issue...just go ahead.

I think, I found the solution for the unstable connection oredy, without changing any sim card. let me test another day to confirm/verify. if works, will post here icon_rolleyes.gif

if not mistaken, the digi sim card can carry two different number, thus Line 1 & Line 2 features there.

ok, back to the DiGi sim + iPAQ problem..its nothing to do with the sim card... sweat.gif

On weekend, i back melaka, from alor gajah till melaka town (about 30 km?) which din't fail the net access at all.

I check the IP address, its 203.92.154.37, which station-ed at Negeri Seremban - Kampong Paya. Even the internal IP start from 10.32.x.x thumbup.gif

Back to KL, the IP is 203.92.154.36, internal IP start from 10.36.x.x icon_question.gif

As today I swap in digi prepaid test again, its same result, failed to access internet (on port 25, 80)after being travel from certain location to another.

But then, Internet Radio app which not using port 80 no problem access at all. doh.gif
