dear ZM Fong / sifus,

i know theres alot debate in the forum on Illegear vs Level51,
Im on a budget preferably (3.5k-ish).
Been reading and checking out reviews on the Raven SE & FORGE15S.
I'm asking now as they have a promo on the 10th gen I5, was wondering if its better then any AMD chips around the same price point.
Both are quite competitive at the same price point.

any other differences that i need to take note of? Like the cooling / sales service / hardwares?

I saw that, but 4c8t i5-9300H is looking outdated nowadays, also need to consider 16GB RAM upgrade (default only 4GB, need to sell it away). Triton 300 using Nitro 5 2019 cooling which isn't good either

I haven't got info on Forge 15s so can't comment on it

Do you have any preferences on weight and battery life? Usage? What games do you play?

Legion 7i doesn't have USB C / PD charging
*
Weight and battery life doesnt really matter, usually plug it in when gaming. Into games like Assasins Creed, Tomb Raider kind. Some old games like CSGO/L4d2

Consider Legion 5 (AMD) customize, use code LENXCIMB. R5-4600H, GTX1650, 16GB RAM

For CSGO you can get higher FPS by disabling Hybrid Mode (MUX feature in budget gaming laptops only in Legion 5 series)

Thanks did what you said got the price down to my budget. need to play around with the customizing thing.
512gb / 16gbram / 1650 / 120hz screen / R5 4600H with 2 year onsite support plan.. Seems like a good deal. Thanks.

Looks promising. Shall I wait for the coming June promotion ? https://lenovo.my/legionpreorder/

Or wait other brand to offer new AMD laptop? The new MSI Bravo looks cool with the RGB per key. Will use it for photo editing and gaming (GTA, Red Dead Redemptions 2,need for speed)
*
depends on how urgent you need your laptop.. better bet still wait for the Ryzen 4000 series with at least 1660TI/RTX2060, who knows maybe if you take 4600H instead + 1660TI will be about the price you quoted? yeah 3 months of waiting can be frustrating...

btw, JinLeon, if you chose customization for Legion 5, i think you need to play around to edit your cart on the Accessories part, as i chose the same specs as you did, i got it down to 3.6k xx, theres still some bug on the RM1 mouse/backpack though.. any ideas how to solve it anyone?

If getting 4800h + 1660ti need to wait for 3 months!?

If you read the posts above, yeah the 4000 series with 1660TI/2060 will only be launched in a few months time.. plus shipping period .. give or take i guess 3 months?

moreover, it seems you would like to play GTA5, RDD2 ... open world type of games do really require higher end GPUs

you need to take 1st and 2nd hard driver in order to get 80whr battery.
*
i played with the customization again, just choose First drive option to : e.g 512gb, automatically the second drive option will be default at 512gb as well, and battery and the end page will be 80wH. thanks for those who brought up this topic, its worthy to take note of.

ZM, when choose first storage SSD, though you get 80wH battery, the price is slighly higher than choosing 2nd storage, with 60wh, is this normal?

the model you recommended: Legion 5 / 5i / 5Pi customize

customize = i can configure the components myself? I looked at the configurable component section in the Lenovo website, a bit confused haha  sweat.gif

what is 2060 actually? i am sorry, i do not know much  sad.gif

if you budget is 3k++ , i dont think you can get anywhere near RTX2060, most gaming laptop (that ive researched this 1-2weeks with price range of 3.5k give or take uses GTX1650) which in my concern is, wont be future proof enough since were halfway in the year 2020.

if can stretch to 4.5k like that (LENXCIMB), i think Legion 5i + RTX2060 would be nice (but running on intel 10th gen ya). my guestimation this could last give or take at least 3-5 years? depends on games development. RTX 2060 can sapot up to 4k games (bear in mind that laptop monitors are only 1080p) may need to connect to external 4k monitor with high refresh rate. if youve seen dave2d (youtube) he did mention that right now the GPU is so powerful that the hardwares are abit slow behind to catch up.

need to find the balance..
