QUOTE(Mixo Mania @ Apr 19 2019, 04:19 PM) Buy a cheap used DSLR to get the hang of manually playing with the aperture, shutter speed, ISO etc... Once you're comfortable with the controls and prepare for the next step then you commit and get a good DSLR/Mirrorless. I've seen too many times people straight buy a new DSLR and in the end use it the exact same way as point and shoot. Another thing about DSLR is you need to post process most of your photos with software like Lightroom or Aperture. Most people don't realize today's phone do the post processing for you so when they use DSLR and see the color and all like not nice they go back to their phone. used dslr risky buy or not? d5300 nikon rm1899 other models can get below rm1k?

Used Sony a6000 + used kit lens = RM1300 can get already. Mirrorless camera is easier to learn, what you see is what you get (photo). If you want to upgrade to full frame sony later, you can buy FE / full frame on your apsc camera.

QUOTE(jesserider223 @ Apr 19 2019, 05:41 PM) used dslr risky buy or not? d5300 nikon rm1899 other models can get below rm1k? Biggest risk for used DSLR is high shutter count (or in layman term, how many photos the camera has taken so far) For me the advice I would give for people who want to venture into DSLR is to get a cheap 2nd hand DSLR (or borrow one would be much better) and play around for a few weeks to see if you really want to venture into DSLR. For me the main thing at the start is to get used to the controls and settings and determine what kind of photos you shoot. With this you can start to identify what is the main features you need in a DSLR and identify what body you can target in future upgrades.

DSLR heavy af, even lens are heavy, mirrorless is good enough. Better to get something that you will use rather than something accumulate dust like majority of DSLR. If you want to go hardcore serious just go medium format directly.

QUOTE(~min~ @ Apr 19 2019, 04:19 PM) expensive, lens also expensive. beginner only. later feel like pro abit then commit buy good mirrorless lah. How is it expensive? It is the least expensive interchangeable lens system out there. TS can get the kit lens and play around with it first.
