Hi guys, any recommended place for front and rear dashcam installation service (70mai A800s + RC60)?
Around Puchong and further abit?
*
i think you can try diy ? biggrin.gif

I followed this as a guide

did myself easily. just need some time and patience to route the cabling for rear cam.

fyi, some car's rear glass is the entire boot, eg hatchback.

some car's rear glass is fixed, just movable boot. much easier for rear cam.

also get some small cable tie too to keep cabling tidy and stay in place at some areas (eg below glovebox, b pillar and c pillar)

i believe it's rotatable 360. not recording 360.

What is the main weakness of 70mai A400 versus 70mai A500S? screen resolution is almost the same but over RM100 difference
*
found a comparison of 70mai dashcams here

https://70mai.pl/en/produc-and-customer-sup...ams-comparison/

i'm using both A800s (tad expensive) and A500s (reasonably affordable)

A800s captures in "widescreen" video. A500s is just narrow, like a CRT tv 4:3 video. sweat.gif

*
so far A500s is still good for the price

next time can upgrade to higher-end models also

I am not sure if I want to run the wire along the car roof lining yet.Roof lining is beige, so appearance wise is kinda ugly if didnt hide it properly. The gap is quite tight. Anyone runs it along the floor instead? At least can hide below the car mat.
*
remove those rubber door lining, then route the cable accordingly. no need to take out roof panel.

I learnt from here.

u just need to be brave to explore the car panels (first time for me with A800s, then more daring A500s)

the tricky part is rear cam cable exit. just try to find a suitable spot.

sedan cars have fixed rear windscreen, that's easier to do (in my opinion)

compact cars with boot+rear windscreen integrated is a bit tough to do the routing.

Hello Sifus, can help suggest a front + rear dashcam budget around 500-600 (no hardwire)? Is 70mai a500s still relevant?

My last dashcam was DDPAI mini 5 on an older car. Looking for an upgrade smile.gif
*
get the better model, a800s just rm5xx

still need to addon about rm60-70 for high endurance 128gb memory.

if got extra budget +rm200, upgrade to newest a810s model.

Can anyone recommend which ddpai or viofo should I get?
Budget around 600, reliable and if possible not too big coz convertible car
And anyone ever install rear dashcam on convertible? Where to mount the rear cam?
*
LoL got me there.

maybe 3 alternative methods

1) install rear cam inside the car rearview mirror, pointing to the back. not ideal cuz distance and privacy (passengers may be recorded)

2) I noticed some 360 cam system got recording function for all 4 cams together (front, rear, both sides). not high quality but the rear cam at the car plate area, nearest to collision point (if any)

3) custom mount with bracket?

Hello everywhere, I bought a VIOFO A129 plus after following this thread but I involved in car accident twice and two times also the camera just don’t save the moment accident. So frustrated. It record well for all event except the moment of accident the file sure gone..
*
how long has that been?

could be internal battery not retaining charge at all?

by right, the cam can still record after main power source is off/disconnected.

when collision happen, likely car power source died/turned off. but at least car cam can still run after few minutes.

I'm using 70mai a800s, settings can still enable cam to record x minutes after car turned off. I checked storage album, indeed it recorded myself standing in front of car after exiting car/locked

Really thankful of your reply.

I never got involved in accident since I got the dashcam.

my cam is hardwired one and done in car accessories shop.

My accident is very minor where unfortunately people rear end me when they reverse.

My cam also recorded me for about 60 seconds after I shut down my car but very strange thing happened is whenever there is collision, the camera must gone something wrong.. Really defeat the purpose of my dashcam which is to keep as a proof when involved in accident.

---

Thanks a lot for your help.

My Viofo seemed to lock the file immediately once there is collision or it experience any G-force I believed.

I checked there is folder called RO which usually keep the video file that activated the G-sensor. Nothing was there.

Last accident also the same, I thought was so coincidence. But today is the second minor accident and it only record until 5 seconds before the accident happen. really acting super weird
*
how about microsd card used?

maybe need a better, endurance-type card to ensure read/write is maintained when cam received shock/interruption.

Currently im equipped with vios ori front cam only.

I'm thinking to get 70mai pro for front interior recording and audio, and another 70mai for rear cam. It will link to the same app in wifi right?

Is it doable ?? Or any better suggestion
*
why interior recording? ehailing purpose?

yes, 1 app to manage multiple 70mai dashcams.

maybe get a simple dual channel cam like a500s? the main cam setup for rear (higher quality) and the rear cam used for interior (you don't need high quality to record interior activities, right?) biggrin.gif

the main cam if used as rear cam, the audio recording should be better for back passenger than front, if that's the intention....

So guys.... Bought 70mai a810 front only.... Now looking to add rear camera... Anyone know what's the difference btw rc11 and rc12... Can't find anything online except that the resolution same... Rc11 is cheaper by RM50.. So thinking to save same money
*
Both RC11 and RC12 are:

Compatible with the 70mai Dash Cam A810/A800S/A500S/A400 for rear or interior recording, providing you with a comprehensive view of your surroundings.
With a wide viewing angle of 130°, you can capture more detail in your recordings.
High quality recordings at 1920 x 1080 resolution ensure that you can clearly see what's happening on the road.
The 5.5-meter-long cable and minimalistic design make for easy self-installation.

RC12:
The R12 Rear Camera also supports HDR rear cam recording or interior recording for enhanced clarity and detail.

hello and good day

surveying dashcam for the coming 11.11, saw ddpai can choose to bundle with lexar cards. is lexar fine or get samsung instead?

thank you to all sifu. learnt a lot here
*
any major brand is ok

just get those high endurance type. a bit pricey but worth the money and suitable for dashcam that need constant read/write onto the memory card (hence the "high endurance" quality)
