Hi want to ask if both 70mai A500S and DDPAI Z40 without hardwire both do not have event recording when car is switched off and parked? Means no 30 seconds recording in the event of if got hit when the car is parked?

My previous 70mai pro has this, don't plan to do hardwire on my new car due to warranty concerns.

Appreciate your advice. Thanks!

I went to search, and yea that guy also having the same problem with me. The Z40 will always reset the date/time and won't follow real-time unless you connect the phone via DDPAI app. I guess only the GPS version can keep track of real-time.

No point to use the timestamp feature and need to turn it off. If I knew this, I would have bought something else

Does this happen because it requires hardwiring to keep the time and date running? Not sure if the supercapacitor is able to store enough energy for the clock to run when engine is turned off...

I ordered DDPAI Z40 non GPS too but yet to arrive, now this is a worry for me sad.gif

I don't think I will send back for warranty claim, already spend time to install it nicely in the car with proper cable management and the video is all good. To take it out and send for warranty over the date/time is too mafan.

Just disable the timestamp and let it run, the main purpose is to record video in case of any accident

Maybe you can discuss with your seller to return only the camera unit and remain the cables in the car. That way your cable routing will not be disturbed.

Hope you get the best out of your purchase smile.gif

My rear windscreen with VLT 21%... Can see clearly in video. Actually I see no hassle in front and rear, the installer will do it without any damage to car roof. It least mine looks ok.

Actually in hardwire to fuse, it will likely void the ENTIRE car electrical system all the way to your electronic device, etc LCD screen, etc. Nowadays, they especially love to VOID all warranties at the slightest mod that we made, so no mod, no worries. So I rather pay extra for more celup but expensive device from car manufacturer if I must have the item for the new car.

The rear video is useful in rear ended hit and run case to identify car number and cause of accident. It is only about a hundred extra. The power port goes directly to front camera. The front camera powered by a single USB port.

On this note, I installed DDPAI Z40 on my new Honda City hatchback in 2022 with fusekit. Just after a month of installing, the car's V sensing went haywire and the car could not be driven due to all the error christmas lights on the meter. Had to tow the car back to Honda.

Upon inspection, Honda SA told me it was caused by the dash hardwiring to the fuse box and removed the tapping entirely. He gave me a warning and say if caught again they will void my warranty.

I guess it depends on the SA serving you. I plugged the dashcam's cable back to the normal USB port and touch wood, it was ok until now...

My 2018 civic on the other hand installed with 70mai A200 with fusekit, only had an incident where the alarm would go off for no reason after a battery change. Sent the car back to workshop to claim the car battery warranty with another battery and it was ok.

My thoughts are the fusekits are a bit of a risk to install... but I really like the parking recording feature as I had bad experience where my car was hit in a parking lot...

any one with honda civic with 70mai dashcam (hardwire).. it kinda messes up the car battery (draining).

Honda Service Centre complain that its caused by 70mai and proceed to remove the hardwire .. anyone with same issue and i suspect the hardwire was done wrongly)

I have Civic FC installed with 70mai hardwire kit. My car accessories shop at Taman Melawati, KL is good at choosing the correct fuse where the time lapse only starts when I stop the engine and open the car door. The recording would cut off after 3 days idle and go into standby mode (tested during MCO period) and would not leave me with a dead car battery.

However, I did face once where my car alarm went haywire and could not start the car. Only solution was to remove the car battery and after leaving it for half a day, the car went back to normal after reinstalling the same battery. Problem did not come back ever since but touch wood! (this was during MCO also)

Another incident where I installed DDPAI hardwire kit on my City hatchback V sensing. One month after installation, the car dash warning lights came on like christmas tree. Had to tow the car back to Honda SC. The SC warned me and removed all hardwiring to the fuse box. Car was ok after that incident but only can connect the dash to the USB port. Wasted my hardwire kit.

My conclusion would be selecting the correct fuse to hardwire to and look for a skilled technician at the accessories shop if you can.
