Looking for front and back dash cam for safety purposes. Budget would be around 600-700. Currently eyeing at A129 Duo plus. Wondering would it better than DDPAI Z40?

Thinking of buying from taobao, seemed like quite cheap compare to Shopee or Lazada. Anything that I need to aware of before proceed?

Will be installing the dash cam in my Myvi Lagi Best 2013

Anybody bought Viofo from taobao before? Their price is rather attractive. Is the hardware kit fuse compatible with our Myvi too?

Yes very cheap. All hardwire kit works on all cars. Just make sure you get the correct fuse type for your Myvi.

Only issue if got problem then cannot claim warranty only as buy from taobao.

Thanks blurjoey! Eventually I don't mind no warranty as the price gap is quite big when compare Shopee and Taobao.

Do you get to know usually how much the fuse would cost me as Shopee Viofo.my selling RM8x for the fuse adapter

You can find fuse taps for very cheap in lazada shopee etc

https://www.lazada.com.my/catalog/?q=fuse+t....70a82bd1o0vZQe

But you need to which fuse your Myvi is using 1st.
*
Ah thanks, blurjoey! I had made my purchase because of your review as well as the explanations given about the fuse and hardwire kit.

RM45x for A129 duo plus with hardwire kits from Taobao. Fingers crossed that everything works well as I am going to send it to accessory shop for installation.

Any idea should I install a new tint first or have my dashcam install before tinting?

Usually is install tint 1st then wait a week for the tint to cure then install dashcam on the tint.

Tint you'll need to see as some time will block the dashcam GPS signal.

Thanks for the pro tips! Will definitely take note on that.

Wondering anybody used Samsung Pro Endurance (Black colour version which is cheaper and slightly older one)?

https://www.lazada.com.my//products/i186993...ml?urlFlag=true

RM77 for 128GB with 5 years warranty seemed like not bad

Old Pro Endurance - 32GB, 6GB and 128GB. It's read speed is 100 MB/s and write speed is 30 MB/s.

New Pro Endurance - 32GB and 64GB, it's read speed is 100 MB/s and write speed is 30 MB/s. While 128GB and 256GB it's read speed is 100 MB/s and write speed is 40 MB/s.

Faster write speed is better if recording in higher resolutions.

Thanks for the info blurjoey!

I just ordered the Viofo A129 Plus Duo which I saw at your site stating as follow:

Front cam: 2560×1440 60fps – Overall bit rate: 27.4 Mb/s. 196MB per 1min file.
Rear cam: 1920×1080 30fps – Overall bit rate: 23.2 Mb/s. 166MB per 1min file.
(Source: https://jwtechreviews.com/2020/08/31/viofo-a129-plus-duo/)

The total writing would be average at 6.33+ which I guess should be fine to go with Old Pro Endurance considering the cheaper price point and back with 5 years warranty.

how long has that been?

could be internal battery not retaining charge at all?

by right, the cam can still record after main power source is off/disconnected.

when collision happen, likely car power source died/turned off. but at least car cam can still run after few minutes.

I'm using 70mai a800s, settings can still enable cam to record x minutes after car turned off. I checked storage album, indeed it recorded myself standing in front of car after exiting car/locked

Really thankful of your reply.

I never got involved in accident since I got the dashcam.

my cam is hardwired one and done in car accessories shop.

My accident is very minor where unfortunately people rear end me when they reverse.

My cam also recorded me for about 60 seconds after I shut down my car but very strange thing happened is whenever there is collision, the camera must gone something wrong.. Really defeat the purpose of my dashcam which is to keep as a proof when involved in accident.

I do not own a viofo, but can suggest this possibility:

maybe the video clip of the moment of the accident was automatically saved to another location? try looking around in the other folders/sub-folders of your viofo's micro sd card
*
Thanks a lot for your help.

My Viofo seemed to lock the file immediately once there is collision or it experience any G-force I believed.

I checked there is folder called RO which usually keep the video file that activated the G-sensor. Nothing was there.

Last accident also the same, I thought was so coincidence. But today is the second minor accident and it only record until 5 seconds before the accident happen. really acting super weird

Looks like u r not the only one with that problem.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Dashcam/comments/1...nd_crash_viofo/

Hope u can solve it.

Thanks andy!

Sadly seemed like it's quite common with this Viofo. I have exact model as what you quoted from reddit.

What a luck. I was thinking paying more for Viofo rather than Xiaomi or ddpai.

The cam quality is quite okay and able to record for everything. I checked my folder, everything is recorded nicely with no frame skipped except the collision. rclxub.gif

how about microsd card used?

maybe need a better, endurance-type card to ensure read/write is maintained when cam received shock/interruption.
*
Thanks cybpsych!

Using Samsung Pro Endurance 128GB that is advised to be used for dashcam or CCTV footage.

Bought it last September 2022 from Lazmall Samsung Memory Partner.

Hi, does your model A129 plus came with emmc 16gb model? Samsung pro endurance is no longer supported by viofo dashcam officially.

You can try to tap the camera to simulate the '!' recording or just press the emergency button to check your ro folder.
*
No, mine doesn’t come with integrated 16gb. Mine is the one duo plus.

I tested press the emergency button and yes it did record to RO folder though.

Really thanks for your time in helping.

Feeling rather helpless after both incident didn’t record just the particular clip 😅

So pressing emergency button is working fine. Since you have hardwired, I believe you have the correct wiring and using parking mode.

You should do test switch off engine, then some hard tapping the camera body from side to trigger the '!'. Then check the RO folder.

If you not using parking mode, the camera should have remaining power to safe writing into memory for few second upon engine off. Any video recording is corrupted on the last file or not written into memory is due to capacitor or memory card issue.

Somehow Samsung pro endurance is no longer supported by viofo officially might be issue here or the camera capacitor.
*
Thanks a lot for your help KIntos!

The hardwired part I paid to accessories shop to do it though.

Eventually the accident happened during my car is running because I don't really use the parking mode.

I checked back my memory card, it indeed do record 1 minute after the engine is off as well.

Any memory card that you personally would recommend? and do you have any method to test out whether it is working or not?
