Hi guys, is there any dash cam that doesn't require any wiring/cable connected to the car? And do you guys remove your dash cam and keep it away from prying eyes when you leave your car? Or thiefs won't bother to smash your windows to steal a dash cam nowadays?

QUOTE(JayceOoi @ May 31 2019, 02:44 PM) For those interested... 70mai Pro vs 70mai (Sony IMX335 vs IMX323) Hi, 70mai pro looks good.1) How is the 70mai Pro mounted? using a suction cup or adhesive? if adhesive, can it be easily removed to adjust position without affecting the tint? 2) How long will the battery last? 3) How much is the price and how do you ensure that the unit is original? Thank you This post has been edited by Human Nature: May 31 2019, 03:51 PM |

QUOTE(blurjoey @ May 31 2019, 03:50 PM) How I wish got such dashcams. But don't think there is an internal power supply can last long unlike the plugged in dashcams. I see, that is the reason i am reluctant to get a dash cam few years as I cant stand seeing the dangling cables in my friend's car and also worried that any tampering my void my car's warranty. Got a few cases of cars getting smashed and their Yi dashcams getting stolen. There is a discreet design dashcam. Taking down when you off the engine and put it back on the dashcam before you start the engine, you'll need to make it a habit of doing. Think you can do it? Haha yeah, I will probably be too lazy to put the cam back on but at the same time worried about getting the windows smashed. |

Thanks all for the replies. Are there dash cams in the market that are mounted on the dash instead of the screen?

Okay I will eliminate the thought of windscreen being smashed as I seldom park my car at secluded places
I meant something like the picture below. This way, the wires has a shorter path and can to be connected to the usb port/cig port at the center console without hiding them on the roof. Attached image(s) |

Hi, 32 GB can store data for how many days? Do we need to buy separate memory card for front and rear?
Some sellers have this hardware kit. What is it and is it necessary to have it? First time user. https://www.lazada.com.my/products/70mai-da...8454019776.html? Thank you This post has been edited by Human Nature: Jun 5 2023, 11:21 AM |

QUOTE(blurjoey @ Jun 5 2023, 02:17 PM) 32GB can store about 3-4 hours of 1080p video. Dual dashcam that is about 1-2 hours for front and rear. Thank you for the clarification.A dashcam can only use 1 microSD card for both front and rear. If you want to keep longer then a bigger capacity card is needed. For front and rear, 64GB is about 4+- hours and 128GB is about 8+- hours. I think a 64GB is more than enough as you won't be going through the videos until you get into an accident or something happened during your drive.. Hardwire kit is to use parking mode when you off the car engine. If you just want to record when driving only then no need. Only require when you want to use parking mode. Will the video be 're-written' automatially (dont know the correct term) on the SD card or we have to erase the video manually before new video can be recorded? Thanks again. What is the main weakness of 70mai A400 versus 70mai A500S? screen resolution is almost the same but over RM100 difference

QUOTE(cybpsych @ Jun 6 2023, 09:22 AM) found a comparison of 70mai dashcams here Thank you.https://70mai.pl/en/produc-and-customer-sup...ams-comparison/ i'm using both A800s (tad expensive) and A500s (reasonably affordable) A800s captures in "widescreen" video. A500s is just narrow, like a CRT tv 4:3 video. Ah, didnt give that a thought. Oh well, will make do with it coz just purchased A500s at midnight 😅 |

For A500s, can I just install the front unit without the rear unit first?
And to download (save video), have to manually take out the SD card or downloadable from apps? Thank you |

QUOTE(blurjoey @ Jun 7 2023, 12:20 PM) Why you want to install front alone when you bought a dual dashcam? I am not sure if I want to run the wire along the car roof lining yet.Roof lining is beige, so appearance wise is kinda ugly if didnt hide it properly. The gap is quite tight. Anyone runs it along the floor instead? At least can hide below the car mat.You can download the videos via 70mai app or unplug the microSD and use on phone or PC with a card reader. |

QUOTE(cybpsych @ Jun 8 2023, 10:04 PM) remove those rubber door lining, then route the cable accordingly. no need to take out roof panel. Will watch that. I actually just saw one youtube with same car as mine. Then realize pillar A has airbags.I learnt from here. u just need to be brave to explore the car panels (first time for me with A800s, then more daring A500s) the tricky part is rear cam cable exit. just try to find a suitable spot. sedan cars have fixed rear windscreen, that's easier to do (in my opinion) compact cars with boot+rear windscreen integrated is a bit tough to do the routing. |

1. Phone app is unable to detect A500s bluetooth. It says to turn on the A500s hotspot and then it got connected. I am confuse here, Actually no bluetooth connectivity? How can A500s becomes a hotspot or wifi when it is not under any telco data? Means whenever I connect the phone to the app, I cannot use mobile data for other things.
2. Everytime to view the photo and video on the app, I have to turn on the A500s unit ie. turn on car engine. Means cannot view it remotely? 3. Just fixed the front unit. Have some bubbles when sticking the electrostatic film 4. Tomorrow will fix the rear unit. Is it okay to paste it on the defroster grid lines. No way to avoid them. Done installing rear dashcam too. Unable to avoid the defroster strip. Also, placed it slightly lower than the topmost area to avoid being hit by rear-curtain. Even that, it still slighly hits it but no choice. Manage to hide the excess wire at the car boot.
Are you guys able to make the Voice Command function working? For example, Take Picture to capture a picture. Unable to find ways to enable it at setting. The rear dashcam is affected by reflection. See pic, the arrow is ponting to the end of my boot. Abit hard to see ![]() This post has been edited by Human Nature: Jun 12 2023, 08:18 PM |
