Guys, first time dashcam user here. My mind already set on viofo a129 duo 2, already researched this thread & others on LYN.

Budget will be 1.1k, planning to get it with polarized filter & hardwire kit. Just need the final push to make the purchase.

Thinkware F7700 seems to be out of my budget.
*
You say "A129 Duo 2" you mean the A129 Pro Duo? A129 Pro Duo is 4K res.

Won't go wrong with the A129 series.

F770 if you want the extra features like the true parking mode and smart camera alerts.

blurjoey hello, wanting to get the 70mai dashcam , within my budget of RM100-200.
Is there anything that i should be concerned about?
Went thru your review for the dashcam, didn't see any pros and cons
*
For lithium battery dashcam I usually don't write it out as it is well known that lithium battery dashcam is bad in hot weather countries like Malaysia.

Any suggestion for dashcam not more than RM200?
*
BlueSkySea B1W is best budget capacitor dashcam.

But you can try during 10.10 sales and see if you can find a deal for Viofo A119 v2 or not.

Am currently considering this cam...small and discreet, f1.5 lens
https://sea.banggood.com/Mobius-Maxi-2_7K-1...ur_warehouse=CN

Can convert it to a supercapacitor dashcam by swapping out the battery
https://www.spytec.com/super-capacitor-for-...axi-series.html
But spytec is in the USA...shipping will cost more.
Anyone know of local/China seller of such supercapacitors with Mobius Maxi connector?
*
Mobius very good action cam.

Can try it out. Do let us know how it is after using it.

I noticed X700 doesn't have wifi function & internal GPS, but it is a more recent model (2019) unlike F770 which was released in 2017.

So, is X700 a better choice? Or F770 firmware support is already solid since last 2 years that it still wins over X700?

F770 is listed as 'Heritage' model on US Thinkware website.
*
F770 has been taken over by Thinkware's latest flagship - F800 Pro, Q800 Pro and now U1000 sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

The last F770 firmware update is in Jan 2018. But I considered the F770 to be a value buy as it is the previous flagship if you don't mind the 2+ years hardware and no firmware updates.

X700 is considered as a mid-range dashcam which is almost the same video quality as F770. But minus the wifi and GPS.

So depends if you want a new model or an older model.

I think the F770 will be phased out when the T700 comes out later.

Luckily I re-read page 1 again: Capacitor dashcams eventually run out of power and lose the time/date/settings. It'd be a pain if I didn't drive one of the vehicles for 3-7 days and have to input the info all over each time that happened.

Are there any mid-priced capacitor dashcams that have some form of backup battery to retain the time/date etc info? I'm getting blur.
*
Longest I've tried is more than 14 days and no issues.

I can't remember if it was a Thinkware or Viofo dashcam.

Dear all sifus,

Any recommendation for affordable dash cam plus installation around 600-700rm for front and back?

Is it viofo the one to go for? And the workshop around KL will be EA auto workshop?
*
Maybe you can check with Sicurez in Sunway also on the A129 Duo and see.

Guys.. i don't have cigarette port to put rear dashcam. Any ideas how? Btw what dashcam do you recommend that gives both (front + rear) dashcam in package?
*
Look at Viofo A129 Duo.

Higher range will be Thinkware dashcams.

Blurjoey,
Is the V119 (V2) still good to buy? Since the (V3) is difficult to get and is cheaper for V2 also.
My worries is does V2 have buffered parking mode?
*
A119 v2 is still the best budget dashcam now.

Only A119 v3 and A129 series have auto parking mode. A119 v2 you'll need to manually turn on and off parking mode every time you get off and on your car.

You can try asking Sicurez the authorized Viofo distributor in Sunway.

blurjoey if me going change my car battery. I need maintain started engine to change battery or direct change?

I not sure how the x9 will behave.
*
Usually, the battery guy will start your car engine then change your car battery to prevent all your car settings from resetting.

Your dashcam will be running like normal with the engine running.

Even if change car battery without engine running, the capacitor in the X9 will have all the settings retain. Only your car settings might have reset.

My Plan to purchase on next sales available
Dual camera - Vofio A129 Duo or DDPAI X2 Pro (budget <RM900)

Single Dashcam - looking for single dashcam, where can interchangeable around with others car. Reason for drivers to use (Budget <RM250)

Any recommendations above said?
*
Viofo A119 v2 I think can find for less than rn300 during sales. But you'll need to get extra GPS mounts if you want to share with other cars ad no one will interchange dashcams with other cars.

Another to look at is BlueSkySea B1W.

No GPS is not important.. just want to record down as when they driving.
Thinking of getting those suction cup as move able, as those 3M are permanent
*
Suction cup mount long term will leave a mark and will occasionally drop due to heat.

Then you can consider A119 v2 non-GPS but will need to get extra non-GPS mounts, cable and USB car charger.
