Ever wonder why stupid movies like the transformer series and local zombies became box office ? Because our people have low taste in movies, resulting in low quality movies being produced. Forget quality lah.

But we won't and therefore couldn't and will stick with rempit, ghost and cheap rom-com

Stop giving them grant to make movie. Nowadays most of them using gomen money to make movie. Hence they don't care if the movie is good or not. Money sudah dapat maa.

Tx series were international hits. Also ever wonder why hollywood bother to churn films like white chicks etc.

The truth is most people in the world dont care about director's artsy fartsy whatever. People watch what they enjoy, and hollywood made what people enjoy.

There are markets for art or intelligence films but you wont be swimming in cash.

If sex scene is your benchmark to define movie is good thats just reflect how shallow ur mind is.

Censorship does not mean sex only la. C'mon. Even a simple character that was made to look like local politicians is an excuse to get cut. Just look at Bangalasia la. Also cannot make movies about corruption in Gov agencies. Even if it was deemed inspired by. Also cannot make history based movies unless it is salinated to year 20xx disadvantaged idiots approval.

At the moment the Comedic Horror movie genre died. The religious love story movies also died. And so are most current fad titled movies that is not popular anymore. Racing movies are almost done away with.

Whats getting the sales for local movies these days are true horror movies and uniformed body movies like police & army.

Malay film the audience is only limited to local or maximum Indonesia, Chinese have little chance given experience in international distribution.
So we can explore English films.
Also censorship wise.

Good film making isn't difficult, marketing is the main problem as distribution are always the few big guys.
