Booby trap that needs attention :
Attached Image

Exceeding 5GB per month and NOT using Band 5, the "LINE" may be throttled or worst is "SUSPENDED"...

Source.

Attached Image

CONCLUSION :

So, if the CELL TOWER(s) do not emit Band 5 (aka 850MHz) spectrum, the 5GB/month limit still applied... No point if the smartphone supports Band 5 BUT the CELL TOWER(s) don't emit Band 5...

Hence,
Connect to Band 5 cell tower = unlimited data (speed varies)
Connect to Band 38 cell tower = 5GB/month quota (after 5GB limit, speed is throttled or no data at all)
Connect to Band 40 cell tower = 5GB/month quota (after 5GB limit, speed is throttled or no data at all)

Then, someone in the UniFi Legal department needs to update the TnC... It should be:

Band 5, 38 and 40 (under UniFi Spectrum) = unlimited data (speed varies)
Non-Band 5, 38 and 40 = 5GB/month quota (limited data after quota exhausted) or something like that....

They focus too much on the supported phone models rather than the CELL TOWER nationwide to emit Band 5, 38 & 40.

But with 12 months contract, it's a trap in my opinion... They are trying to hide something the public unaware of...

Hi guys,

I'm currently on Celcom using mate 9.  Looking at all my options.. thinking about unifi mobile.. I just took the unifi prepaid to test the coverage.. so far at my home it's been damn good, consistent. Haven't tried my office area.

Question: say if things go well, planning to take the plan 99 (promo 59), the unlimited data, do they still cap the video resolution to 480p? Have anyone experience this? I use YouTube and astroGo alot. I'm also considering Yodoo.. I'm happy with Celcom, just looking for best bang for the buck.

P/s: my speed test on unifi mobile prepaid is around 19Mbps
Thanks.

I'm confused, so it's not limited to band 5? As long as you're on 4G, you will get unlimited call/data? What about SMS? Couldn't find info on sms, I'm guessing sms is limited on 3g but unlimited on 4g too?
*
Everyone is confused including their internal staffs... LOL...

I can only suggest you try their RM99 plan for a month. If not happy terminate (new number as dummy test) or port out (if MNP) ...

Another "internal" confusion between their Legal & Technical department:
The phrase "Band 5 AND ABOVE"... What the heck is that "AND ABOVE"...? As if all bands in this country... LOL...

Begins the phrase with "NON Band 5" , and then ending the clause with "Band 5 and Above" ... Yang mana satu nih... LOL...

Very shady TnC...

This is for phone that not support unifi band, (you only get 3g signal, not 4g), you can only use up  2000 voice minute and 5GB of internat data.

So, please make sure phone must support band 5/38/40, then above restriction will not apply.
*
OK now that's abit clearer... Meaning, if the "phone" supports Band 5/38/40, even though the cell tower(s) does not emit Band 5/38/40, the "phone" will connect to Celcom spectrum and the data and call are still unlimited...

So, if the whole 30 days is connected to Celcom spectrum, the data and calls are still unlimited. Is this legit...?

i'm currently using unifi air, i can connect to celcom spectrum, but cannot use data at all, need to switch back to unifi spectrum.
*
Oh well, the 5GB quota is applied then...

So, if we live in an area where there is no Band 5/38/40, the 5GB data quota is applied to any smartphones in this planet...

The cell tower's spectrum is more important then the supported devices...

Good to know that... Since this is UniFi Mobile thread, let's focus on it only.

Am being offered unlimited data plan at 59.
Before proceeding, need advice from unifi mobile users as I didn’t manage to crawl back all previous posts.

Am currently using maxis with iPhone 6.
Is it still true that the unlimited data is capped at 5gb? Any iPhone users able to share your experience. Thanks

As above, my hypothesis is :
4G LTE (Band 5/38/40) = Unlimited data (DL/UL speed varies)
3G HSDPA (Celcom spectrum) = 5GB/month quota (After that either 64kbps or no data at all).
The above hypothesis is based on their current Prepaid #BEBAS plan which offers separate charges/quota for 4G LTE and 3G HSDPA...

I reckon you to get dummy SIM for their RM99/month 1st to "try-cuba-tengok-test" ...

Im so so surprised there's no 4G when I'm trying out in Mcd Sri Damansara. I only have 100mb with 3g.

Btw how long before I can port out?
*
Sometimes we need to force/lock the device(s) to Band 5/38/40.

So you are now in their RM59 promo or still testing #BEBAS Prepaid...?

Hi bro, you are using pocophone F1 with unifi mobile 99?

How is the coverage and the speed?

The unlimited data means very slow speed after 10gb?
*
Not the 99 plan...

Still using their original webe prepaid intro plan that has 20GB LTE quota (I have 10 SIMs left right now...)

So, using the F1 just to park two SIMs to act as standby for hotspot if my main line is not reliable...

So far, if we lock F1 to Band 5/38/40, coverage around Klang Valley is just so-so... If the line dropped to 3G (Celcom spectrum), no data at all becoz the 3G quota exhausted edy for both SIMs. No intention to buy their 3G quota as they are expensive. I'm just waiting for all LTE quota to finish and throw the SIMs... LOL...

Mine detected as DiGi... So, most probably not compatible lohhh...this is the second reason I don't wanna commit to UniFi Mobile Prepaid ... The topup vendors for prepaid is limited... But Postpaid is more flexible as Boost e-Wallet supports Postpaid payment...

Conclusion :
Band 5/38/40 Celcom Spectrums
45 minutes per "session"... Unlimited "session"s per month... 2,000 minutes per month

Could you please elaborate on the difference between Band 5/38/40 and Celcom Spectrums?
*
Some cell towers emits both Band 5/38/40 and Celcom's spectrum/bands simultaneously. Then, the device will connect to Band 5/38/40 as the priority. We shall see 4G or LTE icon on the device.

But if some cell towers ONLY emit Celcom's spectrums/bands, then, the device has "no choice" but to connect to this spectrum(s) ONLY because no Band 5/38/40 is available. In this case, we shall see 3G or H+ icon.

Thank you. I fully understand now. So when there is Band 5/38/40 available... my calls are unlimited but when there are none.. it will consume the 2000 minutes quota yeah?
*
However, if our device does NOT support Band 5/38/40, then, wherever we go, it will always be connecting to Celcom's spectrums in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah & Sarawak.

Conclusion : Make sure the device supports Band 5/38/40 first before subscribe to any UniFi Mobile plans.
