wahai, expert expert sekalian, i was searching for ETF fund and bump into this, as its kinda lengthy to read all the detail from 2019. i think its easier for fellow members here to share experience. I have some double on this platform hoping to have some answer around
1. from my understanding stashaway is a auto trading platform where it trade base on ETF?
2. does anyone withdraw the fund from trust? how long does it takes?
3. i have some emergency fund available looking forward to park on a better liquidity place with lower risk, just wondering whether suitable or not

Not in the regular portfolio. StashAway Simple, yes, for short term.

As the crash and volatility in the past 3 months have shown, market can be unpredictable, for something less than 10 months I don't even touch the regular portfolio. If your timing bad within one year you can lose money laugh.gif

how does the simple works? i check it feed on eastspring fund, but with 0 charges? a bit puzzle me

To point out something that has been highlighted before...since the term DCA has been used rather loosely. Different people would be seeing returns that could be similar or wildly different.

Person A lumpsum initial capital of 10k at ATH in February and DCA 100 each month since then would highly likely still be in negative.

While Person B actually DCA from the start at ATH of 1k each month could have already breakeven.

Because the impact of the subsequent "DCA" are wildly different.

Scenario A is hardly impacted while scenario B each deposit impacted greater though with reducing impact with each deposit over time.

just out of curiosity, how often you guys perform DCA for SA?

while stashaway is hotly being discussed, akru seems to be so low profile,
may i know ETF stands roughly how many % of you guys investment portion? was thinking applicable to open another robo investing account or just stick with stashaway.

I think, if you already hv SA, and now if you want to go buy own,
May I know what is your purpose of wanting to buy etfs separately again

I mean, relatively speaking, people my age and my peers around me are into stock picking and meme coins, haha, so I feel out of place at such discussion. The last time I brought up my investments, the biggest sentiment was "aiyoh, you still so young mah, you will regret for not trying for higher returns in your 40s! why are you happy with potentially meeting EPF return onli? you wont have enough to live comfortably at 55 leh"

So while a nearly pure equity portfolio is high risk, the chance of me losing it all is relatively low, I feel!  (Not to mention Stashaway's portfolio, even at highest risk, still have a massive ballast compared to most investment options)
All I need to do is make sure I can hold through tough times with a healthy day-today living stash.

I've been eyeing VXUS myself, but with my current financials, 3 fund portfolio's transaction fees will eat into my money significantly if I DCA them, and the lack of an Irish domiciled option is a bit of a bummer.

thanks for the input, from my point i always believe that, knowing what are you doing is always far better than following the crowd.
Stashaway, generally is quite well organise, emphasis more on risk rather than return,
i opt for a second robo as i m thinking to expo more to SP500 etf.

1. If your brokerage doesn't help you get 30% tax refund for bond ETF dividends, and you want defensive positions, Stashaway is for you.

2. If you have risky investments like private eq, cryptos, pure stocks, you want to hedge them, Stashaway is for you.

3. If you only have MYR denominated assets like EPF, ASNB, houses in Msia, you wanna diversify geographically, Stashaway is for you.

Stashaway and DIY investments are not mutually exclusive.

side track a bit.. for oversea trading, which IB support tax refund and reinvesntment service? any problem withdrawing money? my main concern about oversea IB is trying to withdraw money back to bank
