Funnily, that's how I'm rationalizing my cash holdings, besides the X months of expenses. Eg. what if one day, my mum or bro suddenly needs to borrow RM30k from me lol.
*
How to be rational in cash holding?
What if one day my kid kena kidnapped and was asked 10m il from the kidnapper. Or my brother owe people 300k and asked me to help. How to know how much cash need to keep go play safe?

Well, it has escalated quickly.

What I understand is Emergency fund is simply the amount you need to sustain your life needs something that is known.

Ie, food, rental/mortgage, car/motor, insurance and etc.

Why suddenly jump to kidnapping etc @@
*
Yeah this is the emergency fund I think too. If need to consider about kidnap, brother borrow loan shark etc, then I think billion also cannot cover all the risk.
Since there are lucky people can win millions over one night through jackpot. There must be also some unluckiest people who need to dig out millions cash over one night for emergency. But the probability is negligible

SA is designed for those who don't want to or are unable to research thoroughly.

In a way SA is mostly trusting that Freddy & his team know what they're doing laugh.gif which is why as far as risks go, it's actually pretty low on par with UTs with mixed assets and are region based because their portfolio is very spread out to minimise risk.

If you want more control and you trust other sources, then SA is not the vehicle for you. I say this also as someone who still has 80% of investments in UTs.
*
For me, SA is easy to use, no need spend time to study or monitoring, no need to be affected by emotion, just choose your risk appetite and set monthly auto debit and see the return once a year will do.
How many can actually manually dca in UT or stock without affected by emotion continuous for long time eg 10 years 20 years? How many can study and research stock continuously in 10-20 years? Not many can do
Good for people who don’t have time to study or research but want to invest in equity for long term

actually buy on monday or buy on tuesday.

would it have super huge impact over the next 20 years? assuming if you plan to keep the fund and stay invested for the long run.

we should learn to be more chillax (like one forumer said the other day), to me, monday or tuesday, it won't make any huge difference. if you do it frequent enough, surely you lose some and you gain some.
*
I think quite a lot of people (Including me) are “3 minute hot” aka no patience...So SA is a good investment tool to help continue in long run, Important is normally relax and no bother only can stay and do continuously... saw some people initially very hyper active in investment but after few months become no interest to continue or no desire to DCA...

ya .....just receive it.............

On 19 July, we’ll be enabling auto-reoptimisation for everyone. That means that you'll no longer be able to disable this setting.

Reoptimisation allows us to adjust your portfolios to ensure that they don’t exceed their StashAway Risk Index. In other words, not reoptimising a portfolio in such cases could expose them to unnecessary risk.

ppl disable this make they difficult to manage it.......... hmm.gif ........more work load............

for me, trust them to do what is good for me, that why i pay management fee...
if i think i better than SAMY in manage this ETF, better i go IBKR buy myself.......... brows.gif

dun shoot me,    just my though............... icon_idea.gif
*
same too. for me i trust SAMY will do better job so I keep on DCA and keep SAMY as portion of my investment allocation. no need to worry about anything as long as the investment time horizon long enough rclxms.gif
if like to play manual can allocate portion of money go direct buy US stock more shiok and more worth to spend time on for the higher potential return... thumbup.gif
