Hi Stashaway, here are some compiled questions from lowyat forum.

Q1. Weekly auto debit. Will this function be implemented again?

Hi Alex, great to hear from you! Kindly allow us to address your queries in the following:

1) Currently we only offer monthly and quarterly Direct debit schedules. Should there be a enough demand for a weekly Direct debit schedule, we'll be sure to consider it for future product updates.

Q2. does Stashaway accept e-wallet/ invest with credit card?

2) We do not accept e-Wallet or credit card transactions. We are actively exploring the possibilities in collaborating with e-Wallets however, we cannot provide any definitive timelines at the moment.

Q3. On 36% risk profile: any reason why Stashaway withdrew from Asia Pacific? Why go for sub-sectors (e.g., small cap, communication, etc.) rather than broad-based (e.g., SP500?)

3) As you might have known, our investment framework ERAA (Economic Regime-based Asset Allocation) helps to us monitor economic and market data, therefore allowing us to better manage our portfolios by ensuring that the asset allocations are optimised for the given economic environment, or regime.

In doing so, we noticed that the US industrial production has slowed however, It’s important to note that the US economy is still growing, albeit at a slower pace. With inflation persistently low, the US economy is still in an environment that is conducive for growth-oriented assets to perform well.

On the other hand, the global economy faces a higher level of uncertainty than the US does i.e. there is a cyclical slowdown encroaching upon other economies, such as the rest of the Asia ex-Japan region, and emerging markets which is why we have withdrawn from Asia Pacific for now.

Upon reoptimising our portfolios in August, we now have 32 asset classes from which to choose when building your portfolios (previously, we had selected 19 asset types).

We’ve added commodity-exporting countries, such as Canada and Australia; and, we’ve expanded equity sectors to include healthcare, communications, energy, and finance. We’ve also widened our scope in fixed income, including more bonds, such as international treasury bonds. Finally, we’ve introduced some interesting asset classes, such as Emerging Market bonds, global ex-US REITs, floating-rate bonds, and global ex-US inflation-linked bonds. Here’s the full list of assets that our system considers.

These additions increase your potential exposure to more asset classes and geographies so you can seek returns from even more investment pockets depending on the economic environment.

Q4. Will the annual fee be cheaper? (well, just some forumer sincere query)
4) At this moment, our management fees will remain. Should there be any changes, we'll be sure to notify everyone!

Q5. Will SA portfolio include China market?
5) We previously invested in AAXJ whose largest allocation was China however, we have removed the allocation to AAXJ after our recent re-optimisation. Caixin Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) has been weakening and retail sales YoY for July came in at 7.6%, which was significantly lower than economists’ expectations of 8.6%. The Li Keqiang Index has also shown that a cyclical slowdown begun in February 2017 when the index peaked at 12.85% YoY. By June 2019, the Li Keqiang Index has declined to 6.85% YoY. Remarkably, this cyclical slowdown in the Chinese economy has started roughly a year before the US-China trade war broke out. The trade-war rhetoric is therefore adding additional uncertainty to the Asian region, further exacerbating the negative economic trend. Today, Economists have just downgraded again their growth forecasts for China.

With that said, should we see a fundamental shift in the economies of Asia ex-Japan or in the Emerging markets, then we will change the allocation accordingly to optimise for these economies.

Hope we were able to provide some insights for your understanding smile.gif

You can only tune your risk appetite.
Based on your chosen risk appetite, they'll determine which ETF(s) to invest for.

How often do they change etf choice within a risk category? Is this made known to investors?
