Hi LYN members,

Any of you installed the ceiling mounted - HOUM Super Dryer or the manual pulley type?

HOUM Super Dryer – Cost about RM2100 installed HOUM Super Dryer

LG Global Clothes Hanger – Cost About RM350-400 installed. Pulley Clothes Hanger

Question:
1) Is Houm Super Dryer worth the extra money in the long run?
2) Can the manual pulley type last long / is it reliable (say more than 5 years without problem)?
3) Will the pulley type be difficult to operate by my wife if it is full load (heavier load = harder to turn the pulley?)

Appreciate if anyone here installed any of those ceiling mounted hangers to give some feedback.

TIA!

Better to get the supplier to install.

In Singapore the equivalent model is Steigen Exalt Solar. There is a mini for tight fitting dry area. The high end one is Exalt Solar Ultra with up to 45kg load supported, anti dust mites protection feature and ionizer to eliminate odour.

Google for reviews of those though. Similar product but don't know if it's a common supplier.

At least over the causeway, Steigen touts testing it so that implies reliability engineering QA. All Exalt Solar models have obstruction detection feature.

Because I live with folks that can be tech challenged, I use LG Global 8' length x5 rods that can take 5x8kg loads of laundry bought in USJ9.

It's wall mounted and purposely anchored high. We use a laundry hanging hook attached to a broom or mop stick at the threaded end. Clothes are hung with hangers. Towels via telescopic towel hangers from Mr DIY or Giken brand (90cm). The laundry hanging hook is found widely in SG..a friend showed how it's used so I bought 3 of them.

Bedsheets no choice have to use heavy stool or step ladder to hang. Pillow case and bolster cases can use towel hangers.

If you have the WM space, there is no problem with dryer space. Or even a combo if haven’t brought 1.

Operating cost it very low with condenser type. Cannot see a scratch in my bill.

I won’t pay this hanger for over a RM1k. RM2k is cut throat with this low tech.

There are other options for ceiling mounted that doesn't cost a bomb. Those are found in SG. Simple pulley from 2-5 rods system but it all depends on available space in the ceiling. I've covered it before here. Like this one with more dimension details on the same here.

Alternatively, KS Auto System sells this one which can be tucked away when not in use.

Or this Australian made Ez Hi-Dry system. The pictures of the various installation shows one installed on the ceiling of an AC ledge. The one without the swivel option might suit your need but you have to see if it's wider than 40cm.

I use LG Global 8'x5 rod system as there is a wall but I hang my clothes indoor. There is an air vent over my drying area which is hooked to an extractor fan in a powder/laundry room next to it.

These option is for your consideration where space is premium. Over here, it's either Hotata or their equivalent 2 rod pulley which to me is limited unless user is the sole occupant or baru kahwin with no children. When the kids come into the picture, 2 rods will be easily overwhelmed. The price will pay for itself with greater utility rate down the road when the family expands.

The Ezzi Living multi rod pulley version has more features vs KS Auto and Klassico. All this was introduced by friends living down south. So I learn from them and adapt what I can for my context.

BTW, these should be easy for a contractor to install as it's just measure and install. If you're considering these, talk to them and negotiate for cheaper as they won't be installing. They may say warranty void as it's not in SG if you're ok....as these are just rods and pulley. Before I settled on the LG Global 8'x5 due to the availability of a wall for my drying area, I did consider the 5 rod pulley system and even factored paying the installer to come up to do so. However I already had the plaster ceiling done and home minister was reluctant to redo. Thus, we settled on the LG Global 8'x5 rods system.

You have to be aware of the dimensions....you mention 40cm, a bit narrow at first glance. The product mounting width is one thing. Where the rods suspend from its mounting point could be wider or same width....have to take those into consideration...when it's wound down etc will it be obstructed by whatever that cause it to be only 40cm etc.
