Hi guys, anybody notice the WiFi connectivity speed on iPhone XS Max is slower?

I’m doing WiFi speed test on my iPhone XS Max and OnePlus 6T with the same WiFi connection. But the outcome is freaking shock! Is that only happened to my unit or what ...
*
Normal. This is a known issue as Apple uses inferior Intel modems vs the Qualcomm ones used by most Androids due to Apple's legal dispute with Qualcomm.

Lol... yeah there’s connectivity issue with intel flying around. At first I though it just the oroblem on connecting to WiFi / 4g. But never expect it will affect the connection speed, and the different are huge! Damn Intel, or else this gonna be my perfect phone.

But my previous iPhone 8 & 7+ got the same speed as Max.. apple getting left behind 😭

Anyone using Samsung s10e, 10/10+? Mind to share your experience? Damn tempted on the new “hardware”
*
I'm trying out the S10+ now bro. Great piece of hardware but software optimisation is still behind iOS. The 4100mAh battery doesn't get me the same mileage as my iPhone XR based on my normal usage (standby and screen on times combined)

It’s so light compare to our max. My hand can handle the size but cannot stand for the weight.

My hand is itching with the s10/+. Software wise still IOS better. No doubt.

Battery life worst than Xr huh? Could it because of Enxyos instead of snapdragon? Most of the YouTube review shows s10+ plus outperforms xr / xs max
*
The thing with all those YouTube vids is that they measure screen on time usage and you don't need to be a rocket scientist to conclude the biggest battery will last the longest. In our day to day usage however idle battery drain is also a big factor and that's where iOS shines over Android. I can go 24 hours standby with 4 hours screen time and still have 50% on my XR. With that kinda usage and standby, my S10+ battery life is way below that. It's still early days though, only had the S10+ for a week. Will see if it gets better.

I kinda expected. Samsung or is it Android OS just can't get the battery right. The Note 9 was first Sammy with 4K battery. my Realme C with 42K battery beat it. Of course some will say due to screen difference but isn't AMOLED supposed to be power efficient or something like that ... some here keep singing that.

now lets see the M20 with 5K! that's all they do - increase RAM and battery size then say yes can last a whole day

PS. both Note 9 and S9 plus average use only WA, web, no gaming/ music/ navigation esp navi would've killed the battery faster
*
I think it’s more of a Samsung thing. I have another spare phone, an Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 with stock Android and a massive 5000mAh battery. Power management is great but hardware wise, everything about it is as mediocre as it gets, which is to be expected for a RM600 phone laugh.gif

Makes me curious about a Pixel, if only it was available here officially.

Pixels have their own issues. Main standout is the camera. Like you say, if locally available with warranty then sure would have tried.

Anyway apologies, this is XS  thread, sorry to go out of topic.
*
No apology necessary, it's a valid discussion on the differences smile.gif

This xs max dual sim network reception is quite weak. Been roaming in thai and seems my secondary digi roaming always 1 or 2 bar only.
Anybody have similar issue ?

Yours is with eSIM or dual physical SIM?

I have the same HK iPhone XR, and have gone dual sim in Singapore and Brunei thus far and signal strength is OK for my local SIM on roaming. Will try in Indonesia next week but haven't had a chance to try in Thailand yet. Could it be the network partner's issue?

Yup, having used the iPhone X, XS Max, XR and currently trying the S10+ now, I can definitely vouch for that!

QUOTE(marfccy @ Mar 17 2019, 07:29 PM)
this

i find it really sad that manufacturers keep prioritising screen resolution but actually what everyone wants is long battery life.

>introduce OLED panels, with screen tech that are able to turn off individual pixels for lower power consumption
>brings in high ass resolution that drains battery more :x

like, imagine having a XR level resolution with 4000mah battery capacity. we could actually have devices that can last days for once since the smartphone era. it doenst help that why do people think higher ppi is useful, its kinda pointless on a device where once you hold beyond 1 feet, theyre the same sweat.gif

another gripe with apple nowadays is how come they will not put bigger capacity batteries inside. physical size wise the batteries in androids with bigger cap are almost similar to the XS/Max/XR. so how come? hmm.gif

with how efficient A12 is, we could be seeing a huge selling point for Apple customers
*
Exactly. If Apple had placed a 4000mAh battery in the XR it'll easily be the gold standard in battery life - of course, not counting that crazy 18,000mAh battery Energizer brick of a phone.

This was my XR back last month, doing slightly over 4 hours SOT on 20 hours of standby with another 50% juice remaining.

Here's my S10+ yesterday, also 20 hours on standby and 50% battery remaining - that's slightly under 4 hours SOT.

just like Apple not putting higher RAM or ROM biggrin.gif everything smaller and just enough will be cost saving haha

I'm all for not having more RAM than necessary but the smaller ROM and cut throat storage upgrades is just Apple being greedy laugh.gif

im very impressed too, its no magic nor trickery its just common sense. ditch the high reso that does nothing and use an extremely efficient SoC + great power management.

i start my day with 90-95% battery at 8am and ends at 8pm with 56% with average usage of 4hours+, thats incredible

everyone used to diss apple for putting in low cap batteries in iPhones and that we are paying more for less. but what they didnt notice is the amazing work Apple did where even a low cap battery is able to challenge the behemoth batteries of androids!
*
Right, which is why I cringe when I watch those YouTube videos comparing battery life by looping videos, apps and games continuously. That’s just not how us normal people use our phones. Standby drain is also a big part of battery performance and in that respect, Apple still holds an edge over their Android counterparts.

That probably gives them the excuse to keep putting smaller size batteries in our iPhones, which I don’t approve of either laugh.gif

I wonder how come the big boys like Celcom and DiGi haven’t made eSIM available yet...

Hey guys,

I am planning to get an iPhone XR/XS.

My current Note 9 allows me to run two Whatsapp numbers via 'dual messenger' feature in the phone settings.

Does the iPhone OS allow the XR/XS to also have such a feature to run two Whatsapp?

I don't wish to install a hack or 3rd party software/parallel apps to have this feature. Is there a built-in feature for this in the iPhone OS?
*
Nope, iOS has no native support for dual messaging just yet.

i got the smart battery case last week from apple. to date i am so happy with the combined standby time. hope i can finally stop upgrading since:

1. Dual Sim able to swap physical sim
2. Big Screen at least in the iphone range
3. Batt Pack full day usage
4. 256gb big enough for my usage
5. Processing Speed and Camera good enough
*
Nice! What's your typical standby time now?

Looks like not much innovation would be introduced in the upcoming iphone yet. The only thing worth noting for now would be the triple camera setup.

Except for the pricing, nothing else will be innovative bro smile.gif
