Now Proton under Geely, i suppose they do things their own way now. Even X70 launch event, Pauline Tan not the official livestreamer or event organiser. HS's racist nature become more apparent since. From that post also u can see he got beef about them bringing their people in.

Truth is, Proton become more MNC rather than tongsan. In an interview with Dr Li, he said they got many international key people from Japan, Germany, etc, but HS seems to single out tongsan, and keep attacking them from time to time, claim tongsan hire and pay cybertroopers la, what a jerk.

Eh they forgot ka Geely last time hire Hibi-san ex Toyota top gun to help them? and the head of manufacturing is ex MMC nihon-jin as well. and those ex president Skoda in the board as well in Proton. Good la P1 become MNC, they need volume and need to act like MNC not local vassal of DMC

Proton did hired him before as something like a consultant back in 2012. That was the year DRB took over, Preve was launched, the charismatic CEO DS Syed Zainal resigned (more like DRB kicked him out). We all know how shitty Proton during those era was? If he so good, why proton became shit? What advice he gave to Proton that ran it to the ground?

Now Geely wanna do the right thing, actually managed to convince thousands to buy a rather pricey Proton (but very good value vs its rivals), many local chinese buyers even! Yet he go and become racist arsehole. Look at his post, bajet pandai, pro-local, don't even have balls to call Proton/Geely by its name.

That’s totally incorrect. If there is any change in this context, Proton hasn’t turned into a Chinese company, but a multinational company. Why do I say that? It’s true that Geely has an interest in Proton but in terms of operation, it is not as you’d expect.

I’ll give you an example. At the Tanjung Malim plant, we have three Japanese engineers who head the operations there. Proton’s chief financial officer is a Canadian national. The design and styling department has British and French individuals who are also involved in providing input. Similarly, a few German and Indian nationals with their respective expertise contribute equally.

Our goal is singular: to improve Proton’s condition and restore it to its respected position as before. All these things we’ve discussed – and many other aspects of course – are the changes that are necessary to achieve that goal.

Recent Proton's CNY video greeting, he go and hanjing proton say "49.9..." in the comment section. His brother also comment "made in..."

He was commenting kesian director tu sorang2 je. The video got many top management people wishing CNY, just 1 malay and 1 japanese je lain than others. Actually only ceo is tongsan mali, others all Malaysian chinese.

He also claimed dulu iklan proton ada semangat muhibbah sekarang penuh bangsa ehem hahahaha, what muhibah ad? I never recall between 2012-2017 proton got muhibah ads, got cheesy KRU production ad for perdana, persona launch got la, wasting money je, they all flopped gak.

Proton saving money, use own top people to do ad, complaint tak muhibah, as if that gonna sell the cars, bodoh.

Just want to point out that 2006~7 Perodua trying to replace ageing face-lift sporty looking Kembara CT Aero.

It was selling at RM50~60K price range back then. Perodua did a trial run for Nautica 4x4 with 200 units locally produce bumpers and fully imported from Japan.

Locally produce bumpers meant local paint supplier also LAH, so body and bumper color if you find one today sure to be offset a lot.

2008 intro price was RM80~90K range. So lost local consumer interest LAH. Not to mention small SUV hype have not started in local soil.

Toyota Rush was an extension of Nautica but RWD like Toyota Avanza, and so since Nautica have no local interest Perodua in 2012 manufacture Toyota Avanza locally and UMW Toyota sold with with a good margin.

Now base on the above, you will understand why Daihatsu Xenia / Toyota Rush / Perodua Aruz share the same platform and structure.

IF we go back to 4x4 segment, Perodua had only 2 models which is Kembara and Nautica. Aruz is not 4x4, more like a van or Avanza segment.

So can we rule now that basically Perodua Aruz was basically a jack up Perodua Rusa replacement?

Many people here compare this Aruz with Proton X70... due to close launch dates but both are different segment vehicle.

If to compare, then should be Proton ERTIGA OR Proton EXORA .... LAH!

Aruz is not jack up rusa. Rusa is a Minivan and has flat front unlike Aruz.

I do agree X70 is not par with Aruz as one is C SUV segment and the other is a A/B SUV segment which is identical with Honda B-RV and the likes of Mitsubishi Xpander which sold in Indonesia

I vividly remember Nautica was rm89,900, before discount which sure had to be given, else can never clear stock.

Rush was the 7-seater version of Nautica. It was CKD too so that's why despite Toyota badge, still cheaper than CBU Nautica. They share same ladder frame platform.

Today still the same scenario, Rush, Aruz and Avanza share same platform (not sure if all-new or same as back then), RWD layout, same engine and gearbox.

Aruz is necessary for P2 cuz they wanna replace Alza, it's been 10 years already. Problem is toyota/daihatsu completely stopped making Passo sette (base for alza), so they gotta turn to Rush as a modern 7-seater offering.

Aruz is just SUV in style, but zero substance. It won't do any off road like most other pussy SUVs, unlike Range Rover, Pajero, Landcruiser etc.

People compare Aruz and X70 cuz mainly they're both SUVs, but Aruz is a budget, no-frill 7-seater family car. X70 is a luxury-killer cruiser, kinda like OnePlus and their 'flagship killer' product. X70 costs way more to buy and run, but it's still a steal for what it's offering vs their rival. True, they both gun different market, and doing well on their own.

Avanza, Xenia, Rush, Terios & Aruz coming from U-IMV platform, running on ladder frame chassis. thats an indication of how bad the driving would be. they can always prop up the accessories and electronics but the fundamentals of the vehicle is already based on 70's Kijang philosophy - low cost and robust

Wanna know why Nautica flopped, go wonder why nobody buy Rush today. BLIS and 360° isn't worth topping up rm20+k. If people can install power boot with foot sensor on X70, BLIS and 360° camera also can be done outside, very likely costs waaaay below rm20k.

When people can afford bigger budget, they won't look back at these 3rd world ladder frame cars anymore, looking up, X70 fits the bill, for a steal.

before festive holiday I went to check on Toyota Rush, SA claims final price have not approved by gomen. Current price is estimation only, so no test drive and no display unit.

Probably that explains why UMW wanted media launch earlier before P2 Aruz

Imo hes really mad that tongshan people bring their own people to proton and not listening to the locals/kicking them out. Eventhough they only own 49% but they act like its their own
