I have this problem only started recent past 2-3 weeks. My connection on the ONU will drop off and have to wait a few moments to manually restart to gain back the connection. It happens sometimes daily, some times few days interval. The really weird thing is that it only happens during wee hours past 12am. Sometimes around 12.30am, sometimes 2 or 3am, the connection will drop.

My wife sometimes need to work at the wee hours due to timing differences or to catch up with work. The next morning, she will complain that no connection, cannot do work. Sometimes, i myself realise that problem the next morning when walking past the ONU box.

The LINK led is constantly lit, so i know that the optical cable and patch cord itself is fine but the AUTH led is blinking.

Any idea this is due to the Alcatel ONU box dying (less than 2 years old) or something wrong with the unifi backend server/switch port? My router (Asus RT AC86U) should still be fine, never dropped a connection on router end before and i'm on 300mbps plan. Advice/assistance much appreciated.

Link led must always be ON  .  in sync  and  fiber link is OK.

AUTH led  blinking mean  auth failure between  ONU  and  OLT  ( TM side .

you need to  call  unifi  to get service  .  try  capture a  video    as proof.
*
what is OLT?

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Sep 22 2019, 06:13 PM)
Time to check your line. You have to call TM for that.
*
The issue is that it happens intermittently. When i call TM, not too long after that, asked to restart, then ok again. Then end of story for them.

Damn sien....it is not that it is disruptive, but quite annoying, especially for my wife.

OLT      optical line terminal
is located at TM  exchange.

It sends Ethernet data to the ONU/ONT - BTU  , initiates and controls the ranging process, and records the ranging information. OLT allocates bandwidth to the ONU/ONT and controls the starting time and the transmission window size of the ONU/ONT transmission data
from google.
that is why you need do  a video capture to show the unifi tech .
i once have a  problem  on the unifi
my  telephone voice call  will  drop/ cut off    intermittently
they blame my phone .  i swap out 3 different phone set , same problem

they came back 4  time before it was fix.  change the BTU twice, check the fiber conn,  etc
the last tech called the control center ,  seem  some data is set wrong on my  subscription.
after  he fix the data ,  no more call drop .
*
You mean take video of the ONU AUTH blinking? Can ar?

wa...4 times....the tm will be so frustrated sweat.gif

the last tech memang best, able to figure this out.

thanks for the info

This new promo feels kinda fishy. Seems like it is out there mainly to attract those that got turbo-ed.

Maybe something really interesting coming next year or another big player coming in to fight the fibre pie.

Sometimes it is also due to the developer. If the developer prepared some infrastructure ready arrangements (not necessarily laying the whole fibre), TM will come in faster. Some of the new developments in my area advertises fibre ready, so really depends how the developer arrangement with TM.

Those that need to dig roads hack walls, these ones take time and they want commitment from at least 50% of the estate signing up.

Since there is no clear cut announcement, can SilentVampire help clarify whether if renew under paynothing promo, starting 01/01/2020, the monthly fee still remain the same or the new price as advertise.

Erm, according to the CS, i will continue paying RM139 from January 2020 Until upon expiration of my existing contract which is in June 2020.

Only after June 2020 (follow the original contract) I will have to pay RM199 as per my original agreement.
*
This is my main worry. Hence standing on the fence as i don't want to lock myself up. At the end of my contract, i don't mind downgrading the speed. I just don't want to pay more.

QUOTE(soonwai @ Oct 1 2019, 09:10 PM)
Malas to live chat. I’m confident and based upon on my interpretation of the campaign TnC, my price will remain unchanged in Jan 2020. Finger crossed.
*
If it is so, then why don't they advertise BIG BIG say something like, "you get to enjoy what you're paying for the next 24 months"? Simple and easy to understand.

But then, i remembered some many years ago when i was initially on streamyx student package. Even after more than 5 years, i was paying the "student" price till i upgrade to unifi. So there is the hope that this sort of thing might happen. But then.....now TM very efficient wor....got one time i dragged payment, terus potong my line and charge me reconnection fee....

QUOTE(da4rul @ Oct 1 2019, 09:24 PM)
Detail from unifi site.

now there is contention between the various interpretation of the customer service agents. Some say continue pay current old package price, while some say follow the pricing structure of 2020.

Really hope that some top level unifi people come out and make a clear clarification on this. This can be quite a disaster. If not for the service level of maxis being quite questionable, confirm wholesale a lot of people jump ship.

Yeah, still remember Viewqwest?
https://www.soyacincau.com/2019/09/11/viewq...sbb-fibre-plan/

Who knows later Viewqwest offers dirt cheap fibre plans in the area, then people will kick Unifi to its own grave.
I think that's why TM wants to protect themselves from losing more customers who is planning to switch to other ISP, so they tie your leg for the next 2 years to "guarantee" that these amount of customers will be paying me this total amount of large sum of money upon 2 years contract reach to an end.

In my opinion, if you memang plan to stick with TM Unifi for the next 2 years, and very confident that either Maxis Fibre is sucks in your area or TIME Fibre just won't come to your area anytime soon or no other ISP will come to your area for the next 2 years, then this Pay Nothing promo may be a right choice for you, as long you got money to pay your TM bill.
*
Viewquest's coverage is very limited. In 2 months time, there isn't anything much they can do. They aren't expanding much either.

This paynothing campaign really is to lock in customers after got turbo-ed, asking them to pay "full price". Unless properly clarified, ah well, i rather downgrade speed than pay more. Eat that TM!

And what happens to those under 800mbps plan? Nothing about it written.

Just checked with TM at Menara TM, those who got turbo upgrade their discount is perpetual meaning "permenant" and it will remain as long as you don't terminate your Unifi account.

The only difference for this "pay nothing promo" for me is they offer me free unifi subscription till december and it will extend my contract to 24 months which i'm not interested and I would rather not sign up the promo as i'm paying RM159 for (800mbps + free unlimited calls+ hypptv ultimate pack) and im currently contract free.

That is something new, because what i was told when my unifi got turbo-ed, after promo period/contract over, will revert back to "original" price.

Kind of insane that till now, still can't have a definite answer to those the got turbo-ed, whether renew can still maintain current price or new price beginning 2020.

TM/Unifi, you buat business not in good faith, can't even spell out the terms and conditions in a clear manner. Different customer service say different thing....

Better hold on till got definite confirmation....

Yes. You need to ask the customer service. If you contacted them via the online CS, they will ask you to wait for someone to contact you.
However, they only can tell you when your date contract ended but not when that promotion discount end because they don't know about it as well and will tell you that please check if the bill have increase mean your promotion discount ended. LOL ?

As for my situation, the account Date of Completion order is 12 January 2018. And the TM that contacted me after I requested for them to check contract date, he told me that my contract ended at 12 January 2020.
While my Service Date is listed as 25 October 2018 ( I know this date is reset due to the Turbo Boost 30Mbps to 300Mbps).

In this case, we as users don't know that Promo Discount 24 months is actually added onto that Service Date or Date of Completion Order until suddenly you saw your bill is high than usual.
*
So many tipu helah, not transparent one. Cannot even tell yes or no? When price increase, tanggung sendiri already, you think they so good say sorry and give you compensation? puke.gif

Totally makes sense to me that the discount applied for 24 months which will ended on 12/01/2020.

Upon checking based on your method, it listed my remaining contract is 13 months. WTF?!

Okay! Now who should I trust, customer portal? online CS? TM CS that called me? or TMPoint? Hahaha
*
the 24 months contract is based on the day your initial unifi got activated, not from the date you got turbo-ed, so likely you last day is 12/01/2020, quite similar to mine. So the dashboard quite misleading, should instead show contract start date or put a countdown.

I clarified with TM through live chat. Initially say, sambung RM139 for another 24 starting the day paynothing get approved on TM side. However, after some time, they call me back again and retracted their comments made on the chat.

It is actually 199 for 300mbps whether or not sign up for paynothing starting next year. So, this campaign can be quite a "trap" for those who got turbo-ed from 30mbps-300mbps plan.

TM, fantastic, just fantastic.....

*now i regret didn't sign up for 50mbps plan last time, so get turbo-ed to 500mbps, can still continue this plan next year despite this shitty campaign mirage.

If you look at the Year End Promo Pay Nothing FAQ, #19 says you can continue with your package and price.

The problem with 300M is that there are 2 options with this promo. One using the redeem page, which should be the correct way to maintain your existing package. The other is in the Change My Plan page which also shows the new 300M RM199 package. 500M and 800M packages don't have this issue as there are no such new packages listed.

I hope these TM staff are not using the upgrade / downgrade method to change the 300M. This will of course change to the new 300M at RM199 and thus what they say is correct, ie your price will change. Because you have changed from old priced 300M to new priced 300M.

I still think, although I got no proof, the redeem method is the way to do it just like the 500M and 800M have to use it. Many users would have got the RM139 300M promo about 2 years ago and its coming to the end. TM normaly will have some offer for those users whose contract is about to end. I think this redeem promo could be the one for these 300M users.

The only other reason I can think of is that they want the RM139 300M users to switch to the RM129 100M package with this promo.  Surely they know that users are not going to pay RM199 for 300M when most users on 500M and 800M are paying less than that.

If there are any similar 300M users who have done the redeem, if your order is completed, please post details of the updated package and discounts etc from the dashboard here so other users can know what happened.
*
I got a call from their customer service, they confirmed that my package will switch to rm199 regardless of whether i join this paynothing campaign or not.

500/800mbps plan users benefit, because there is no replacement for them, hence continue to remain. The campaign also didn't put their 500/800mbps plan in writing, so default no change to them. Them campaign specifically for those 300mbps and below.

FAQ is not T&C (which is binding), so the FAQ maybe wrong. I don't know la....will live chat again later today or tomorrow and see what is the response from other customer service agents. Again, different people say different thing, TM really need to be clear on this. If want to give bad news to 300mbps users, just say it clearly. We not happy but at least have clarity, tak nak later shell shock when bill come in at 199 but cannot cancel because of the super evil "pay remaining" months clause.

I just checked with TM via Live Chat. According to their agent, those under bonanza promo (30Mbps turbo to 300Mbps) remain rm139 for the next 24 months if subscribe the Year End Promo paynothing plan.

Just not sure will they call me to tell me the same thing to retract their reply in Live Chat or not.
*
the same live chat agent called me back in person about half an hour later after ended live chat, saying what they mentioned in the chat wasn't true. So, for my plan, 139 will become 199 regardless whether i sign up paynothing campaign or not.

got the Wifi speed quite low even if computer next to it (without LAN cable) about 50-60 mbps only
(actually computer is on upper floor and the speed can be even slower than that 50-60 mentioned above but brought down to test the LAN speed which can fetch up to 600-700)

wanna ask if i buy LAN cable and sambung til upper floor, ok bou?
is it ok to get ProLink Cat6 cable for this cause?
thank u
*
Get your own router, you're wasting your payment to unifi using this tm router. See the 1st page for router recommendations.

You already have cat6 cable, that is the best standard LAN cable already, nothing can get better than this other than really expensive custom cables.

However, I also have screenshot that the CS confirm that I able to keep that price at RM139 for 2 more years if I apply #paynothing.
I even told them to double checked with other agent as well before being so sure. Haha.

Make me confuse level 999!

I also same situation as you lar....different agent, different answer....

TM really looking for shit to solve.

QUOTE(mylinear @ Oct 9 2019, 03:01 PM)
Maybe you can go to a main TMPoint and ask the counter / supervisor there. Show them all the RM139 screenshots from CS. I think they can process the order on the spot. Agree only if they also say can keep the RM139. Then ask them to show your customer portal details of discount / perpetual etc to confirm. Then come back and let us know. If successful, others here in same situation can benefit. The longer you wait, the less year end discount you get...
*
Frankly, if the live chat agent also can't give definite answer, don't expect their TM point counter/supervisor can answer you. Even if they give you an answer, also need to doubt it, because for those Rm139 300mbps plan, the T&C aren't exactly clear.

So far have the following answers :
1) will convert to Rm199 starting jan2020
2) can still remain rm139, just bond for another 2 years
3) don't do anything, still remain 139 next year

So siapa betul?? confused.gif confused.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Rather forgo discount from savings than to regret later paying more per month and some more kena lock another 2 years.

Unless some big shot or TM make official clarification, the real beef is when you received your bill for January 2020. Or keep screenshot for future MCMC complaint.

Yes, perpetual is a soothing word, but :
1) perpetual at rm139; or
2) perpetual at rm199

Nanti come jan2020, shell shock sia if really turn out to be 2....

From what a few users have said, the price remains RM139 with adjusted discount perpetual. That is how it is supposed to be. Its some of the CS who does not know correct info who have told users different things. In a way, you cannot blame CS too much because TM is the one who has all sorts of packages with all sorts of pricing and discounts over the past years. It would be difficult for CS to know each package variation.

Sometimes CS answers that something is only for "selected" users when they don't know the answer. The other day when I asked a CS why TM was having this free till end of year promo, the reply was it was for loyal customers. So I asked how it can be for loyal customer when the promo is also open to new customers? There was no further answer for that.

So, please let us know your own results after you have done the redeem.

Never go taman pelangi branch, yes they are like the main in JB area, but shit loads of people and the staff quite impatient.

So, do yourself a favour, take a slightly longer drive to the branch in pasir gudang, in the same area as penawar hospital. Much smaller brunch, less people, but friendlier staff.

I had an experience want to potong line and take back deposit from deceased original account holder, the taman pelangi branch really like shit and demanded nonsense to not process. So i headed to pasir gudang branch another day with the same exact documents on hand, successfully processed it on the spot with a very experienced and friendly senior officer. Some more, almost no que, no need the chaotic stress of taman pelangi office.

Yes good, something is fishy.

Next year a lot Fibre competitor will come in and we have a lot choice to jump ship soon.
*
If those fibre players are really serious, they will buy you over by paying your penalty, i received a few calls from maxis for this (the pre paynothing penalty clause, pro rated one time penalty). The paynothing penalty clause is damn crazy and MCMC/competition commission should step in this, very unfair and discourage competition by severely limiting consumer choice.

However, if your plan no more contract and you're dead sure the new players are coming in, just stay put and don't sign up for paynothing. You have freedom to switch at your desired timing. But i personally don't feel any large scale players will be in for the pie. This paynothing feels more like a trap for those with really attractive 300mbps/500mbps/800mbps plans that have perpetual discount. If not careful, buta buta lose out this current insane package and bind oneself to new clause and lose out the perpetual discount.
