optic fiber cable by TM is tiny.. probably similar size like a standard USB cable,
or for better reference - Apple's Lightning cable thickness.

for installation, i suppose the installer would pull the cables first and only terminate the end
connection with the termination point/patch (not sure what it's called)



my take is - assuming that you're doing in-wall casing/runway for your LAN cables,
the size of the runway/casing should be able to fit fiber cable too.

however, bear in mind that fiber cables might easily break (it's not metal wiring)
thus, avoid super tight turning angles.

those who have done in-wall runway might be able to advise you better.

Just got my unifi 100mbps installed this week. The new plan doesn't provide HyppTV already

And my speed is capped at 95mbps, is this consider normal? Its in an apartment btw.

I am looking for something which allows apps (or software) to be installed on the box and honestly the app selection comes with Unifi Tv box is, eh, lackluster.
Actually I just want to install Youtube on the box so can watch 4k youtube film on tv.

EDIT: Come to think of it, has anyone tried to install Productivity software (a.k.a Microsoft Office and other similar software) on Android box and use it for work?
Preferably USB port.

at my house, we already have a unifi and it using fibre optic cable...so i was wondering is it possible to convert the optic cable to gigabit ethernet cable since the i still have the my previous DLink DIR850L router

yeah i wanted to do that, but their CS told me my place not supported so i cannot sub to that package. I''m staying in an old condo, copper cable, so max they can give me is 30mb speed, I don't even get the free booster like everyone else had

Nego with them to get 30Mbps unlimited plus HyppTV Ultimate for a good price. Go to TMPoint and nego.

they gave you with new contract or no need contract? just a switch in their system or did they change new modem and stb for u? mine is still the old dinosaur, i see everyone else having those mini sized stb like the android tvbox, dunno whether they will change for me or not

The ZTE WiFi performance is kinda crap but at least it is stable.

If I were you, I would get a good router myself, rather than wait for them to give you a basic router. You can’t diy cut the fiber. It is very fragile, and you will need to know how to do it properly. It can theoretically be done without special tools, but I would NOT recommend it.

You will need a splicing tool and kinda hard to make it right without training.

Hi, can I ask, do you mean you change from VDSL to fiber, at same place? My house currently still on VDSL, high rise building. Used to be unifi lite, but this year Time, Maxis also can be installed here, so they have fiber. I want to change from VDSL to fiber. How to do that? Currently on unifi advance 30mbps.

Just got my unifi installation. I was surprised they pulled the cable directly from the pole to the modem. I thought the cable is supposed to be terminated at the wall at least.

Anyway, I did a search on the fibre wall switch (FWS) and get mixed responses. Some says TM don't provide FWS anymore while some say they have it. So are the installer shortchanging us?

Ever since TM changed my btu to Nokia  4 months ago, I was constantly experiencing network speed degradation issue where by download speed was in the range of 500-650mbps and upload maximum 85mbps.

Used internal and backdoor escalation method to TM management and they finally came today to change my BTU to this latest model back to HUAWEI which was received by TM less than a month ago on trial and my speed is back rocking again 🙌

In summary:- Nokia btu can be a problem for network speed degradation issue for users having Unifi package of 500mbps speed and above and Huawei was and always is the best!!! 😁

You need to be on 5GHz, and preferably a better router if you want consistent 5GHz coverage.
