Thanks for taking the time to advise. Unfortunately, this is a bit beyond me.. have to seek a network specialist to take a look at it. My bro-in-law is no longer in Malaysia though. sweat.gif

I have complained to Unifi so hopefully they will send over a more thorough / skilled technician to help check. Else, it looks like I'll be downgrading to 100mbps.  dry.gif

Sounds like the guy only terminate 2 pairs instead of 4 pairs.
Can you open up behind the keystone or the termination point and take a picture?

Dir842... i just took a look.. at the box in the drawer... says h/w c2, firmware 3.01TM.

Original from tm, dec 2018, used 48 hours only.

No repeater mode, i tried.. and  i asked, dlink man in his thread said no repeater.

Thats why i gave up, put in drawer.

Anybody want to buy? tongue.gif

you dont need dedicated AP function for it to function.
manually set it to off DCHP, broadcast same SSID.
Plug in the LAN cable to LAN 1-4. settle.
Been doing this for DIR-868L

AP... that i understand.

i was talking about REPEATER, i.e. wifi, not cable/LAN.

still interested if someone knows how to do use DLin DIR842 as REPEATER.
*
Oh, repeater mode.
Sorry my bad. didnt see that.
Repeater mode need dedicated mode i guess.

On a side note. TM finally revealed 300 Mbps. woohoo...now everyone can subscribe

STB, Ultimate Pack, STD20, 100 VOD movies.

Predictions for 800Mbps? RM239?
*
There should be a 500mbps first
that will be RM 239
So 800mbps will be RM 279?

Wonder can you op for basic HyppTV and reduce RM 30.
500 mbps for RM 209. Aint too bad la

Hi guys why is my download speed is so slow? I'm using Archer T6E wifi adapter meanwhile on my iPhone im getting around 80mbps. It seems like something is bottlenecking my speed.
My unifi plan is 800mbps with cable btw

I'm lucky my house has built-in CAT 5E cables set as telephone points. I just need to change the wall faceplates to RJ45, and put wired APs there. Hence great Wifi speed & coverage.

- D-Link DIR-868L running Tomato firmware as router (Wifi disabled)
- Tenda AC18 as ground floor AP & cheap NAS
- Another D-Link DIR-868L as master bedroom AP (second hand)
- D-Link DIR-850L as first floor family area's AP (second hand too) - 89mbps toilet speed
- TP-Link SG108E as main switch connecting all 3 APs to router
- Raspberry Pi 3 B+ running various monitoring apps, connected to SG108E's mirror port
- HyppTV connected via Powerline
*
Oh wait, so means your 868 AP is only giving 428 Mbps
and your 850 AP is only giving 260 Mbps?
hmm..that's kinda low eh

Unless your wireless devices are state of the art, you won't reach 500 Mbps on wireless.
And you certainly won't do it without spending a lot of money. A lot more than what tm is offering.
*
Is Iphone 7 and Xiaomi Note 3 considered as state of the art?
Because both can get 500 Mbps

IMO, its not worth it.

Why would i pay for the same price (more or less) but at a lower speed.
*
If you dont need the speed, there's another package 100mbps @ RM 129.
Should fit your requirements.

I see. The one that usually throttle the speed is modem or router?

I just changed my LAN cable, and i get 60 mbps improvement. But now still only 1/2 of the maximum speed.
*
What speed you subscribed?
What speed you getting?
Tested using Wifi?
What is the router used?
what is the device used to test?

need more info before can help you.

Yup 200-300Mbps is what you can expect from a 2x2 ac WiFi connection icon_idea.gif
*
No la.
2x2 AC you can get link speed of 866 mbps.
Real world about 60% of it.
Which is roughly around 520 mbps.
Just nice for 500 mbps unifi connection.

not much point to change the cable to higher quality if you are only expecting to get 30 mbps.
unless you want to high speed LAN between your devices or you plan to upgrade your internet speed to more than 100 mbps
