Hi all sifus,

Just got back my car from the workshop after an accident.
Prior to that I was overseas studying and the car was passed on to my siblings to drive. At that time they had two punctures at two separate times and as my sibling just started working she decided to change only one tyre each time.

After that, when I took back the car I was looking to change tyres already (those tyres are about 2 years old at that time). However not long after before I got the chance to change the tyres i was involved in an accident.
Accident workshop was working on my car for a very long time, and they've also replaced only one tyre on the car.
Now my car's 4 tyres, there are 3 different brands/model of tyres and almost all of them have different tyre age and wear level. Which is horrible in terms of safety.

I am looking to change my tyres to improve safety and also comfort(noise level). However, I am already planning to sell the car in about 1 - 1.5 years time.
Is it worth it to spend money to change all 4 tyres? or should I skimp and only change 2?

I was thinking of changing the front 2 tyres to maybe a conti CC6, and putting two of the newer old tyres to the rear. However i've seen many people advocating for newer tyres at the rear for improved safety. I am slightly more concerned of the road noise though, and was thinking brand new CC6 would go in the front as majority of the weight of the car is in front and I assume this will be where most noise will come from.

My tyre size is 195/50R15 and it's a proton saga flx se smile.gif

Thanks all for your comments and advice!

Front tyre will take most of the load in car since engine is in front, including when you corner and brake. Therefore I suggest newer tyre on the front for safety issue.

What distance do you drive. Highway or rural roads? For me I would just change all the tires. What is your price on safety? If something happens too late to "I should have"
1 year driving is at least half a tire life for most people so if planning to sell after a year still worth it.

I drive about 250km or less a week, mix 50/50 highway/city road. Weekends don't drive much as have other cars at home, this car basically only to go to and fro from work.
I understand your PoV, but as I am a freshgrad working for a year budget needs to be in consideration too. With my tyre size CC6 is about 180-200/pc as seen on Lazada.

is better to check the tyre thread and wearout first.

can change the oldest 2. especially if u r driving long distance during afternoon. bad tyre could explode and give u very unforgettable xp. if only city u can risk to just f it.

normal ppl put new tyre at the back as front wear out faster. although i myself still put infront as i believe the one handle direct torque should b my newer tyre as i scare anything happen if i drive like crazy.

Oldest tyre has about 2mm above the ridge i think (eyeballed it). But can see the texture on the tyre surface is a bit weird compared to newer tyres, which i would assume it's hardened rubber.
The oldest tyre about 3 years+ now IINM.

If you only want to change 2 tyres put them on the front. Loosing the front end of a car is more dangerous than the back.
You can get some better deals on tyres from shops in Jalan Kapar Klang.

I am thinking of putting at the front too, that is my first thought.
My concern now is - is changing 2 tyres good enough to last me for the next year?
Thanks for the recommendation, will have a look!

Get 195 55 R15 if you are looking for cheaper size.

Tight on budget? Get rovelo. Kinda decent and very cheap tyre if you ask me.

Planning to sell 1-1.5 years time but if you're travelling a lot during this period like doing sales around the city or outstation then is better to change all 4 tyres sekali gus if your budget is allowed and having 3 different brand/model tyres is a horrible idea.

Conti CC6 or Bridgestone Ecopia EP300 is very well suited your criteria since is just economy drive rather than performance and aggressive driving.
Both come in 195/50/15 and relatively cheap as far as I know.

Why even loose sleep over this? 195/50/15 are cheap. Just change all 4. Maybe cost around 500 per set only.

One year is a lot of miles where bad mismatched tires are dangerous.

I looked around and I saw Conti CC6 is about 180/pc. Anywhere I can find it cheaper?
Don't want to change to some subpar tyre just to save money.

Not worth it, lousy tires no good for anything other than low noise. Better buy Hankook V12 Evo 2, only rm165/pc and MILES better than that crap.

I've used the Hankook V12 evo before this. Found the wet traction Slightly bad. How's the noise levels on the Evo2 ?

You used the first Evo or the Evo 2 version? I'm using the Evo 2 and to me the wet performance is pretty good actually. If you feel that is not good then the CC6 will be down right horrible for you! 😂 Noise is pretty silent IMHO.

Right, i've just checked and it was actually the Ventus V2 Concept2.
Might try the Evo 2 then. However I think i'm really looking for comfort and quiet tyres this time round, will go have a look at a tyre shop.

Thanks!

No wonder, V2C2 is lower class. V12E2 is UHP class, similar level as Michelin PS series. As for comfort and quiet, the V12E2 actually has a relatively softer sidewall so its pretty comfortable, and as I said earlier its also pretty silent, about similar to mid-range comfort tire silence. So IMHO this tire is like a jack of all trades, maybe not the best in high performance grip nor the most silent or comfortable nor the longest lasting but it delivers all those criteria in a pretty well across the board, plus it's damn cheap too!
