If it is a new condo you should have no shortage of them within the condo itself.

If it is an old condo, Atap has some good ones and a google search also nets in quite a few good ones.

Surprisingly one place to find some lower priced ones are on Mudah.

Actually is a old terrace. I want to know is it atap ID trustable or too pricey... becoz I duno any constructor.

I did see a couple of really good ones on Atap that redid old terrace houses. Some look rather pricey but some seemed very reasonable.

Usually all of them will require you to use back their own contractors.

However if you are after more modest priced ones, I'd look on Mudah instead and ask those you find on there for references to projects they have done.

That does explain why there are hardly anything bespoke or one of a kind these days. Some are rather expensive too.
Thanks for the link.

Some rather interesting projects there.

Now I know who the ID is for one show house I wasn't impressed with biggrin.gif

Just wanted to share my experience of using Qanvast for my House renovation project:
1. Initially Qanvast selected few ID's and proposed to me. However, these ID's are mostly having limited past experience. I was not convinced how they can deliver my renovation project. Very high uncertainty to work with.

2. based on this 1st screening, I short-listed 10 ID companies with the rating of "4-5 stars" & proven project deliveries across a similar platform, e.g. atap.co, company profile, etc

3. Review the 10 short-listed candidates: design style at similar allocated budget and style I wanted. This 2nd screening provide me with 4 ID company

4. Provide them with similar project information and invite them to discuss the project:
a. Provide them with some problem
b. evaluate how they react to solve the problem
c. Asking them some relevant questions, i.e. how long they can deliver the project, any risk to delay the project, clarity about the payment schedule, project management, ballpark cost figure, type of materials, etc.
d. the gesture and attitude

5. Based on the discussion above, I can convince myself that the one that I selected is the best among the best.

I hope this experience inspire you all who was struggled like me to find a good reputation ID company with reasonable price...

Cheers

Interested to know as well.

Tried to request quotation from Atap and Qanvast recently.

Atap:
Did not recommend any ID for me, since I'll get my house in Apr 2020. I've told them that I understand the ID would need site visit and real measurements, but all I need as of now is to find a ID that i felt comfortable with, and given more than enough time, we can take time for the designing process and once house is ready we can do measurements, adjust quotation, then start work already. but Atap just insist to only start the process earliest next feb. So, i told them, sure, you can find me next feb, i'll entertain you if i've yet to confirm any ID. kthxbye.

Qanvast:
Contact them on 15 Oct, they say a few ID will contact me, end up only 1 company contacted me. Funny thing is today, half a month later, another company contacted me via Qanvast.
Lucky the ID that contacted me is one that I've noticed before while doing research on atap and qanvast. Research a bit about the company, met up with them, seems decent so paid deposit for their designing service, will see how it goes then see if i wanna engage them further for 3D rendering and renovation. For now the deposit i paid and they "work" they will deliver seems quite fair, I wont lose out much in worst case scenario.

Thats how they works bro...

they did similar thing as well to me. I face similar issue with you as well. I want to finalize the design prior to VP. Once VP'ed, then start the execution project.

Sharing my experience, I did select several ID companies from their 5 stars list, then engaged with them personally.
Most of them able to work based on floor plan at first. however, some adjustments will be made once the unit VP'ed.

best luck for your renovation project bro...

Hi, may I know how much was the fee for the design part only? A rough figure or range will do, for my budgeting purpose.

Thanks

12k+, 50% of the design fee can use to offset their renovation work later, so technically it's about 6k.

But from my new neighbours, design cost range from 0 to 10+k, most contractor`ish company give "free" design. Some popular or well establish designing firm charge 10+k easily, i think their rate is partly based on your house sqft, my guess is RM4-8 / sqft total land area. Some will have option to offset reno work, some is just purely designing.

Based on my experience, you need define your budget only find ID and your imagine ideas..

If u have tight budget and want great output, below 50k consider tight budget for a condo, 100k for double storey.. I will not suggest to get ID.. get a main con and let them handle for you.. you should find a good ID if you are looking for good materials and patience enough to sourcing and not rushing for house..

Search your images and types of renovation outcome to show main con sure can help if you're looking for budget.. they're the one who do the job. While a lot of ID might be fresh and new.. unless you are really put a lot of budget to get senior experienced ID to look at your project.. else, lol.. one of my friend condo got inexperienced ID and did wrong measurements one.. so how..

Noted and thanks for the advice. Yup for me consider low budget <100k as I plan to do wet kitchen extension (20' x 5') only, with some minor work here and there. Also some kitchen cabinet, tiling work, etc.

So I guess the ID might not be interested at this low budget sweat.gif

non popular ID will interested.. but depend on area.. one of landed single storey makeover with limited budget 45k reno works.. 15k for furniture and hardware (electrical appliances).. direct find main con and they are able to resolve it for me.. ID, no one will entertain me as they are busy..

Condo also find contractor by mself. kitchen & cabinet 1 ppl.. wiring works 1 ppl, plaster ceiling 1 ppl.. let them meetup together and align together.. only cabinet contractor gave me 3D design photo.. while wiring works & plaster ceiling contractor, basically verbal communication and able to settle ady.. outcome: very well.. same as expectation.. as they able to provide some inputs as well.. basically ID also will ask them to the works.. in low budget, we become our own ID.. maybe u have no idea/experience, but be hardworking to research some images.. show them.. im sure they can do it for you.. just to double check whether can fit your budget only..

You guys should know renovation through ID is going to be more expensive. There is 2 layers of profit here, ID profit(design), Contractor profit(execution).

some clarification over here~
hiring an ID to renovate your house will ease your mind, what you do is carry in only~

once we awarded as contractor, we will push up site schedule, doing arranging work, delivery work, site supervision work
and also defect check list~most of the ID company would help you done all the defect before you check on it~

thus~ save time, and we get some profit~~ thumbup.gif
