As written on the box, that is a Kyoto Souvenir special edition. You probably can't get that anywhere outside Kyoto. And also more qty (12 vs 9pcs). Other than that its just a tourist trap. Where I went, the kitkats there aren't so touristy so most comes in packets like in ur pic. Those in boxed are really premium for a reason.
But hey, nothing screams "I was in Kyoto" like giving a Kyoto edition boxed kitkat.
*
All limited Edition are Tourist trap
In Japan no such thing is limited edition.

I feel you, I ended up drinking beer more than water in Europe. laugh.gif In Europe, it is safe to drink from the tap though. In Japan, I haven't tried before.

All free water in restraurant are tap water. Mostly you will find inside ramen shop. Big water container front of desk for you to fill.

I wonder how does their taxi industry sustain if only rich tourist & Japanese uses them?  hmm.gif
*
Alot of Japanese using taxi. For Japan, time is everything....business traveler will used taxi to go any meeting and claim from company.
Japan after work need go social with co-worker and drink until late night, sometimes too late until miss last train then had to take taxi or sleep at comic book / computer store.

if you earn Japanese Yen then price of taxi actually consider reasonable.

Has anyone been to Inotani station before? (Located between Toyama and Takayama).

Because the transfer time shown is only 3 minutes.

How does anyone have time to transfer to another train in under 3 minutes?  hmm.gif

Why not take Limited Express Train Hida? no need transfer.

The first ride is always 11.00am (everyday from Takayama to Toyama) for the Limited Express Hida Train.

I find it a bit late....to wait until 11am.
*
If you wanted to take slowest train like our KTM Commuter (09:40)
The transfer at Inotani Station just switch to platfrom from 1 to 2.

Mostly Same Platform, The Train from Takayama will arrived Inotani Station Platfrom 2 then leave after 1 minute, and then 1 minute of Gap bewteen 2 train. then 3rd minute ...Train from Toyama Station will go into Platfrom 2 of Inotani Station.

I see thanks  flex.gif

So, basically platform 2 and 1 are at physically like next to each other like that?

Or is there a need to get out going through any barrier gates and need to come back again going through any barrier gates?
*
Just switch platform, no need go out. Plus this train station are no staff no gate station. Very old school and one ticket machine at station entrance only.

It's ok they are plenty of show to catch....they have night parade too
I don't get to watch that cause replaced with halloween horror night...zombies roaming around the park

I personally prefers USJ over disneyland. I would go back again.

USJ and Disneyland just famous for the branding name only.

If you really wanted the ''REAL'' Theme park experience, must go Fuji Q highland.
That the real thing biggrin.gif

Japan on paper looks very advance but actually very outdated.
Due to alot old folk ration in Japan, they cannot change to advance system.

Cash still rulez at Japan. Most convenience way to travel in Japan still bring cash. Even you show off your cash banyak ''lansi'' way still very safe.

When you mentioned "current exchange rate", do you mean current international exchange rate or current Maybank exchange rate in Malaysia?

Sorry for digging up old post...
*
Current exchange rate are international exchange rate.
All money exchanger and bank based on international rate and service charge or profit margin

Example
International are Rm400 for every 10000 Yen
But money exchanger or bank will be Rm420 for every 10000yen ...profit Rm20 every 10000 Yen.

notice most of forumers here visit mt fuji via Hakone, anyone here hike up mt fuji, you did on your own or with guide? appreciate in advance, for any info/experience sharing.
*
You cannot hike Mt Fuji without Guide plus it also need advance booking for slot.
2 day 1 night to reach the peak. Upper station got small inn for overnight.
If I remember correctly, Hiking Mt Fuji cost me nearly 300k Yen.

I suggest you conquer Mt Kinabalu first before Hike Mt Fuji

Anyone that rented a car from Nissan before? Worth to pay 1k JPY for the English GPS? Hope it is not just a setting that we can change ourself...
*
Without English GPS, stock GPS will be fully Japanese only...no English on setting.
If you dunno any Japanese, then you had to pay extra 1k.

Been trying to find answer for this question bout Kansai-Hiroshima Area pass

https://www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/p...nsai_hiroshima/

There is a detailed guide and exceptions at the bottom of the page
[attachmentid=10352082]

* 5 Separate charges will apply if using carriages / trains that require numbered or liner tickets.
Does it mean it is valid for JR Special Rapid but if the Special rapid service is a numbered or liner I need to pay extra, correct?

this is sample i want to use. the pass for

Rapid train just abit faster than normal commuter train. It skip some staion.
The price still the same as normal commuter train.
This kind of train similar to our KTM commuter, no seat reservation biggrin.gif

Limited Express are like our ETS Train. It got reserve seat and non reserve seat. ( If you got JR Rail passes, seat reservation already covered)

Express trains stop at even fewer stations than rapid trains. There is generally no difference in the ticket price between local and express trains. Seat first come first serve system. Train Operating speed 80km/h

Limited Express (Similar to our KTM ETS Commuter)

Same management as Tokyo Imperial Palace? If ya, maybe got on-site first-come-first-serve tickets?

Didn't book online for Tokyo Imperial Palace free tour last year coz was a last minute decision; instead went early in the morning, queue up before the 9am ticket reservation open (they reserve more tickets for on-site instead of online), took the queue ticket, came back a while later for the intended slot booking with English speaking tour guide.  Managed to get a slot.  Inside they split into several groups again (Chinese language tour guide, English, & Japanese).

So, google online, see if can do that with Shugakuin Imperial Villa as well?
*
This Kyoto imperial villa very cocky one. Need one day advance register at ticket office with passport.
1st come 1st serve are only for Japanese tour. If you dunno any Japanese then you will be fxxx. No idea what they talking.

I been Kyoto so many times, never once been this place.

Hey guys,

My friends and I will go to Japan this January, our plane will arrive at 10:30 pm, after maybe some minor delays + customs, will probably get out from airport at 12 am-midnight or maybe more.

Is there any train operating at this hour? From my understanding, most trains will be off by midnight.
*
Japan so big where?
Mostly after 12am, only option was limousine bus.
