A bit doubtable, but it's a good thing that they're producing more quality limited series. They should consider producing drama series with 20-40+ episodes and sitcoms too. Most of the time, limited series are not really family friendly, and they're catered to only viewers with specific interests. They should produce some titles for Sensasi too instead of just DEGUP. I know they do this because DEGUP is the no.1 Malay channel on the platform with the most premiere titles.

I just asked them whether they'll launch new channels especially the Indian channels, and they replied no official info yet. As for the Chinese channel, I actually hope that they can launch their first in-house channel featuring drama series from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan instead of waiting to secure TVB Jade for their platform.

True. Seems like they love to downgrade PQ of GE channels compared to movies channnels. Viewership or favouritism... Idk, but it's a real problem to acquire and produce new titles while forcing the viewers watching terrible picture quality. Feel like they're forcing the viewers to stream on demand if they want the best resolution. But linear channels should still serve the purpose of serving content with the same or better picture and audio quality as any VOD title.

I just realized that HBO HITS, Cinemax and probably also HBO Family on both Unifi TV and Astro are Malaysia feed. Movies like The Fabelmans (on HBO HITS) and Saw (on Cinemax) will be replaced by other movies. As you can see, The Fabelmans is supposed to be shown on HBO HITS +1 tonight at 8 PM (right after Happy Feet Two), but Hemingway & Gellhorn is being aired instead. But you can still watch The Fabelmans on HBO GO.

Yes. I called them last week, and they told me that as long as I have one UPB (regardless of its version), I don't need to add-on another one every time I change to a newer TV pack. The purpose of them bundling UPB for new subscribers is to allow them to stream the OTT apps directly from the UPB, which means you may need to add-on RM 20 from now on if you already have one UPB from before. And the contract for any Unifi TV pack has changed from 12 months to 24 months. I asked them to reply me whether the 24 months will only apply to my Unifi TV pack or my entire Unifi account in general. I'll call them again in the next few days for updates.

Hmm... all titles (movies, TV series and documentaries) are uncensored on HBO GO and other apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime, however, Disney+ Hostar has some shows/movies being censored. Not really sure about BBC Player because most British shows aren't really that edgy.

It seems like Durioo+ is making a comeback on Unifi TV this November. That's the only thing that has been confirmed so far. No news yet about ala-carte HBO channels' subscription or HBO PAK.

Not sure. Need to wait until tomorrow. Here's the thing if it's not included in any TV pack right now, it may still be added to one of the current or/and upcoming packs in the future. I doubt whether they'll include it for the Kids Pack. Also, they silently remove ShemarooMe from their OTT list. Hope they can bring in Sony LIV because that's the best app for Hindi entertainment in general.

Definitely not Hulu and Discovery+ because all Disney distributed titles under Hulu are on Disney+ Hotstar while Discovery+ content will be launched as part of MAX, which means HBO GO wll either be rebranded as MAX or completely ceased (as it's a lot of work to redesign an app).

I guess Paramount+, Vidol TV, Vidio, Sony LIV if they're OTT apps. Maybe EBC Asia, ViuTV, Mola Sport or even a special branded channel of SET Taiwan and SET Metro if they're linear channels.

Well, Vidio can launch as an OTT app with only its originals. A lot of Malaysians are yearning to watch those. A lot of them are pretty good based on the trailers. If Unifi TV launches Mola Sport, I don't think they'll bring in Mola Golf considering Astro has Golf Channel, so there might be some conflict in terms of broadcasting rights.

Well, you do know there's a linear channel called Mola Sport, right? It first launched on Eazie TV (Singapore), then it got expanded to Starhub TV and Singtel TV. But rumours say that those two new things launching next weeks are OTT apps. Just rumours so far.

That's ridiculous. They rather fork out money to relaunch a defunct app (Warner Bros. Discovery discontinued the app in the Asian region), but they couldn't afford Discovery linear channels. Seriously?!

If Unifi TV gives me a free trial of the Vidio app, I want to watch one of its originals - Scandal. 🤭

I think they'll launch a localized version of the app instead of the original Vidio app, which means it will only include originals.

Unifi TV is charging RM 15.90 for the Full Access version (VOD + Channels). In Singapore, Starhub TV is offering TVB Jade in a special pack along with TVB Anywhere+ VOD Zone. I hope Unifi TV can do the same. If not, they should at least try to launch TVB Xing He, TVB Classic and/or Asian Action Channel. 😁

I feel like TVB linear channels still have their market because TVB is one of the Chinese channel providers that delivers its linear channels internationally. Most Chinese dramas are considered as OTT exclusives, which means either you watch them all via OTT or you hope that your TV providers can license your fav ones and broadcast them on their in-house channels. For TVB drama, it's different because every TVB produced drama will premiere simultaneously as its HK counterpart, which secures its value somehow. 😁

If I'm not wrong, A***o only recently gave up their exclusive rights, not since the launch of TVB Anywhere+ on Unifi TV. That's why Unifi TV gets the deal to offer the app at incredibly low price. RM 15.90 for full access is 60% off the original market price (RM 39.90). 😂

VOD Zone for TVB Anywhere+ is like a library of on-demand titles like Netflix while Channel Zone consists of five linear channels with catch-up services (7 days for TVB Jade and 3 days for the rest). Unifi TV claims there're six channels, but TVB Live Shows isn't really a channel. It only shows BTS (behind the scene) stuff from time to time, and you don't even know when it's going live. 😅
