I think tm is a lot more careful on censorship.

For chinese maybe they launch tvb. For indian i dont think they have in-house expert thats why still ao sucks.

Maybe they will bring more international like food network, history, lifetime, hits now those.
*
That will be epic if they manage to bring TVB Jade to Ruby Plus Pack and all new Ultimate Packs (or even the old one). TVB Xing He and/or TVBS Asia will actually make more sense. But Unifi TV is good in terms of making impossible possible. tongue.gif

As for the Indian channels, I kinda feel like they're trying to bid for Sun TV or something. Don't know why they don't just bring in Zee Tamil, Sony channels or even Star India channels. smile.gif

And yes. Food Network, Discovery, History, Lifetime, HITS Now, CNN and etc. are in the upcoming channel list. That's why I'm more concerned about their vernacular channels' offering. Need to cover different genres and needs when considering what to launch. smile.gif

Finally, Unifi TV should add HBO Signature (CH 404) to its channel line-up. A lot of HBO films and series only air and repeat on this channel. According to Now Player TV guide, the channel will air five episodes of House of the Dragon tonight. What sucks about HBO (main channel) is that it doesn't repeat older series like what Cinemax and HBO Signature do. sad.gif

What I am saying is, KC Global in house censorship is much stricter that what our country actually requires. Take the Japanese drama Unknown. There was a a same sex couple in the series that usually are there for laughs. They don't even do anything out of the ordinary. The running joke is that other people thought they are actually father and son. There are not really any overtly "gay" stuffs happen between them. But most of their scenes are totally cut from the drama. At first I thought it was due to local censorship. But nope, they were cut out even in Singapore, meaning it was in house censorship.

Even Animax is similar. They are censored in Singapore first before airing.
*
I understand what you mean, but Unifi TV staffs won't do much about the delay they put in. beIN Sports 4 still have that 1-3 articial delay even I have asked them many times to remove it. Just hope that the delay won't get worse in coming months once more channels are launched on the platform.

TVB Xing He and TVBS Asia comin to Unifi TV on October 2023.
*
Source (besides Wikipedia)? I know these two channels are coming to Unifi TV at some point in the future, and TVB Jade will be offered as a new mini pack bundled with access to TVB Anywhere+ (VOD Zone). I asked the team via Messenger yesterday to confirm the launch of TVB Xing He and TVBS Asia, and they're blur-blur about this one. May need to wait for another week before asking them again. tongue.gif

On the other hand, Astro is bringing Amazon Prime Video and SonyLIV apps to their Ultra Box soon. Unifi TV should consider adding SonyLIV too since Sony Pictures India already merged with Zee Entertainment back in late 2021. That's why Unifi TV launched Zee Thirai, Wion (owned by Zee) and Sony YAY! on the same day last year. The reason Unifi TV ceased the Sony channels was because they didn't license the channels directly from Sony TV India last time. The recent method adapted by most Indian TV channel providers is that all third-party TV providers can only license linear channels directly from their source (aka. who owns the channels). That's why Astro is actually forking out more money to secure their Indian linear channels direct from the providers like Disney Star India, Zee, Viacom 18/Voot, etc. Deepavali is coming up, and Unifi TV should start bringing in new channels within next month or this early November. smile.gif

Plus, Disney+ Hotstar India is trying to bring back live-TV channels to their app. Channels like Star Vijay, Star Plus, Star Maa, Star Gold, Star Sports and more are expected. Will Disney+ Hotstar SEA follow suit? Only time will tell. tongue.gif

I never hear they will bring tvb channels but a lot talk about new linear hits now

Seems like Astro is saving money by dropping the exclusive rights that they've been holding for decades. That's why Unifi TV manages to launch so many Astro's exclusive channels recently. And yes. HITS Now is heading to Unifi TV soon, and Astro die-die sticks with Showcase instead of bringing in Rock Entertainment and HITS Now, which is a good thing for Unifi TV because carrying third-party linear channels is way cheaper than operating own ones.

As for TVB, Unifi TV has always been negotiating internally regarding how to bring in the TVB channels. The news of launching TVB Xing He and TVBS Asia on 1st October hasn't been confirmed by them yet. But no doubt they will bring them in the future. That's why Astro is so desperate to bring content from TVBS that is not being premiered on TVBS Asia on their owned channel - Astro QJ like the weekend variety and limited drama. This could be a sign that they're losing the exclusivity of TVBS Asia already. This can also apply to why Astro launches Astro Premier as a pop-up channel because they don't want people to complaint like why Unifi TV can offer HBO at a way lower price, but Astro couldn't. Anyway, interesting to see what's coming to Unifi TV this October and November because I have already suggested a few "most-wanted channnels" to them.

For those who still are confusing about why Unifi TV delays Animax and GEM for 10 minutes, the reason is simple - they are low-viewership/special interest channels. Exactly like how the Indian GE channels (Colors Tamil and Sony Yay) have 10 minutes delay instead of 5 min like the Chinese channels. They're saving staffs on the censorship part (aka cutting out inappropriate scenes/words and irrelevant ads, like the ones promoting channels that are not available on Unifi TV, with their own ones), and the recent launched HBO channels have a bigger censorship team. Shortly after they launched Netflix, they're posting digital flyer online claiming that they're hiring people to do the censorship job during the weekends only.

I hear that Zee Thirai is the no. 1 Indian channel on Unifi TV right now. They should team up with Zee to launch the regional HD feed. Zee had interest to do the same with Singapore's Starhub TV back then, but reasons like low viewership and cost-saving may have ruined this plan. But the number of Indian-content viewers via Unifi TV is quite high. If they can bring back the English subs, I'm sure more Kollywood fans will tune in. tongue.gif

hey guys, am quite confused as I saw some posts saying the existing ultimate package will no longer have free channel? meaning I must upgrade?
*
Yes. All the new HBO channels (including Cinemax) will not be included in the existing (aka discontinued) Ultimate Pack. To continue watching these channels after this month, you need to upgrade to the Ultimate Plus or Ultimate MAX Pack. New packages, which will include the HBO channels, will be introduced this early October. Remember this. Any upgrade, that includes either Netflix or HBO or both, will renew your contract for 24 months because of the free UPB box being delivered to your house once the upgrade has been approved. Therefore, please consider changing your current Internet plan to the latest offer because they will save you a lot, and you won't feel so burdened about the 24 months contract. tongue.gif

So meaning I don't have the free HBO only right? other existing channel will remain right? cos I'm afraid to change as I scare it might affect my previous turbo 800Mbps.
*
Yes. So far, only the HBO channels are affected because they're part of HBO Pak. In most Asian countries, the HBO channels are being offered as part of a mini pack called HBO Pak, which also includes access to the HBO GO app.

Here. Link: https://unifi.com.my/tv/offerings/channels

Select a category and press on the channel you're looking for. You'll see which packs the channel is being offered in. The orange Ultimate Pack is the old one while the silver and gold Ultimate Packs are the new ones. Both HGTV and Cartoon Network will remain as part of the old Ultimate Pack instead of being exclusive to the new ones. It's still uncertain whether upcoming channels will be included in the old Ultimate Pack, but you don't need to change anything as long as you're satisfied with your current channel line-up (aka. without HBO and Netflix). smile.gif

For those who have upgraded their Ultimate Pack to Ultimate Plus or Ultimate Max, the 2 years contract is for Unifi TV only or together with Unifi Broadband?
What happen if there is a new pricing on Unifi Broadband where same speed at lower price. Do we also enjoy the new lower price when we are already in a 2 year contract?
*
The 2 years contract is meant for Unifi TV only unless you change your Internet plan too. Not sure about the price reduction. Unless it's mandatory, I don't think it's applicable to those who changed their plans before the new price comes into effect. So, my suggestion is to wait until the new prices have been made official before you start messing with your plans if the price is your major concern right now. tongue.gif

So just to recap, correct me if I’m wrong, new content updates on Unifi TV in October 2023 are as follows:

Linear TV:
Ch 122 — TVS

Streaming apps:
Lionsgate Play — Discontinued
HBO GO — Part of HBO Pak

New packs:
HBO Pak — Via à la carte, or part of Ultimate+, Ultimate MAX
“Movies Pack” & “Family Pack” — HBO Pak included

What about the rumored 2 Chinese channels TVB Xing He & TVBS-Asia? Any final say from Unifi, as we’re approaching the end of September this week.
*
I just asked the team via Messenger, and they claimed they didn't receive any official statement from the top regarding any new channel and pack (except HBO GO because that one has been reported across multiple websites).

I think what've been told by the users here are the insider news or they know someone who works in the content acquisition department. The CS department claims they know nothing. biggrin.gif

*
What do you mean by old movies? HBO has the 1st-run rights for all movies from Warner Bros, Universal, Paramount and selected Lionsgate (including John Wick 4, which is probably why Unifi TV is dropping Lionsgate Play in favour of HBO GO). Some new movies will be exclusively made available on HBO GO first before premiering on the HBO linear channel, like the Barbie movie will be released either this October or November on HBO GO before its linear premiere next year on HBO. tongue.gif

Could this Golden Chinese Drama channel be the next Unifi TV’s latest? It’s recently introduced by ROCK Entertainment, joining forces with myTV SUPER & Regentact.

I did suggest this channel when I first saw this news, but I highly doubt whether Unifi TV will actually launch this channel since most of its titles are retro or outdated TV series from China and Taiwan.

Are you joking? According to Quake MY, Astro AOD (the channel that premieres and repeats weekdays 8:30 PM drama and 9:30 PM drama) is the no. 4 most watched Chinese channel on Astro in August 2023. The top three are Astro AEC, Celestial Movies and CCM. I think the reason people prefer Astro AOD over TVB Jade is because of the 3-10 minutes delay and stricter censorship.

Since Astro AEC is the channel included in most Astro/NJOI packs, there's no doubt it's no. 1 on their platform.

I genuinely hope that Unifi TV won't delay TVB Jade at all like what they do to Celestial Movies since TVB Jade SEA has been "strictly pre-censored", but the channel has longer ads break compared to Astro AOD, which can be another issue to some hardcore TVB fans. tongue.gif

Oh. I saw the recent new packs promo hinted that Colors Cineplex will become a HD channel soon. The channel's logo featured in the promo video has the HD indicator next to it.

My expectations/suggestions for Unifi TV:
New apps: Paramount+, Vidol, Vidio, Sony LIV, Apple TV and SunNXT
New linear channels: Discovery channels (including lifestyle channels like TLC and Food Network), Lifetime, HITS NOW, HISTORY, CI, CNN, Eurosport, Zee channels, Sony India channels, TVB channels (including TVBS Asia), EBC Taiwan channels, Disney | Star India channels (like Vijay TV HD) and Sun TV channels.
New features: Cloud recording (convenient for users to record their fav programs even Unifi TV doesn't license them as VOD), multilingual menu and app surface, channel quality settings (auto-max, data saver and recommended (depends on Internet speed). smile.gif

So it seems they decided to spend the money on local production…….
*
Not really, but I can see they have started securing 1st-run TV rights for selected titles that premiere on OTT apps, like the most recent Viu's original - From Saga With Love, which currently airs on Sensasi (1 week after Viu's premiere). Last time, I told them to acquire drama series from OTT apps like Viu, WeTV and Vidio and broadcast them on Sensasi because that channel should be the alternative to Astro Ria (not directly, but you know - for Unifi TV viewers). tongue.gif

Sensasi also premiere one new Turkish drama yesterday at 8:30 PM, and a drama acquired from RTM is showing on the channel every Friday at 9:30 PM. (Sometimes the schedule will change either 30 min earlier or 30 min later. The weekdays 7:30 PM on Sensasi is reserved for rerun Sensasi drama or drama series from TV3.

And yes. They invest the most in DEGUP, which has at least 2 new movies every week, and some of them are licensed from tvN Movies, Celestial Movies, KIX and Thrill (under KIX brand). They recently premiered Siccin 6, which is exclusive on Unifi TV since Astro was the one that premiered all first 5 Siccin franchise movies.

Some people actually want Unifi TV to have a Malay kids channel like Astro Ceria, and I actually suggested them to partner with Durioo+ to launch a linear channel on Unifi TV. Until now, no news yet. Maybe kids nowadays prefer Western cartoons or just watch everything on YouTube Kids. smile.gif

Unsurprising for UnifiTV not improving current channels that have been downgraded to SD (NHK World, ABC Australia, Color Tamil) and HD degraded quality (Sensasi, SIAR, Degup, GEM and probably more)....
*
And the funniest part is that they eventually reverted Nickelodeon (CH 554) to Full HD (except for Unifi PlayTV app).

You don’t say la , AEC for most included Chinese channel and Celestial for Chinese movie.
Although ppl open tvb jade during 8pm to 11pm only or just watch AOD for more faster premiere only, but still majority Chinese user will subscribe them as well.

Anyway, not only that, I saw unifi tv has putting more and different ads that mention timeslot for tvb. Probably they are WIP for bringing tvb jade to unifi tv.

The only thing I want from unifi tv is Travel Channel have subtitles la. I need to watch ghost docs in subs in TIL I using Travel Channel USA source
*
Well, the ads you see are promoting TVB Anywhere+ instead of TVB Jade. If they bring in TVB Jade, I think they'll launch a new Chinese channels dedicated pack, which will probably include free access to TVB Anywhere+ (VOD Zone) like what Starhub TV (SG) is doing. However, TVB Xing He and TVBS Asia will be included in Ruby Plus Pack because they're not that expensive at all while TVB Jade (linear channel) alone costs around RM 15 based on what I observe from Starhub TV and Singtel TV. tongue.gif

As for Travel Channel, don't have your hope so high for now. The reason Travel Channel on Unifi TV doesn't have any subtitles is that its provider only provides Chinese subtitles and other subtitles, and not BM subtitles, which is inconvenient and quite controversial if Unifi TV insists to bring in only Chinese subtitles for the channel. They did to Paramount Network too until they actually offer BM sub for its viewers. smile.gif

Competitors in SEA are still working on the paramount+ either exclusive rights or all brands also got eventually. We only can see the results in 2024.

SInce Ast** and Unifi Tv also got the Paramount channel , eventually we should have it too. Just matter of time.

About Degup , i hate it when they delay the subs timing for MOST horror movie in there example Siccin. So potong stim when watching live at the midnight.
*
Actually, it's really up to Paramount whether they want to tie with just Astro or Unifi TV or both. If Paramount+ SEA/APAC has Viacom 18's Voot (aka. the owner of Colors India) content, then Astro will be the exclusive TV distributor for the app.

Well, DEGUP is an in-house channel, and Unifi TV treats their own channels very strictly. Cut this, cut that is normal for them if they find it inappropriate, but they should edit the stuff first before airing them instead of doing it on the spot to the point disrupting the viewing experience.

i think Mytv Super very good streaming if unifi tv addons at streaming apps.
TVBEverywhere only 5 channel but Mytv Super have a lot more channel and a lot more movies and series from Hong Kong.
This apps have TVB Jade too.
*
Well, MyTV Super is made for HK viewers while TVB Anywhere+ is for everyone outside HK. Some countries actually carry more than 5 TVB channels compared to TVB Anywhere+ Malaysia. Instead of asking Unifi TV to bring in MyTV Super, you should suggest them to bring in the TVB linear channels like TVB Jade, TVB Xing He, TVB Classic, Asian Action Channel and more. They will never bring in the MyTV Super app unless TVB rebrands the current international app with their HK app's name. Also, the HK one has a lot of titles, which have been regionally licensed by Astro and other channel providers like KBS World, ONE, etc. Some of the non TVB titles licensed by MyTV Super are being aired on TVB Magic on Astro, like the J-drama and Thai drama. smile.gif

They've been doing that for a few weeks now, and I think Unifi TV is the only TV provider in Asia that delays HBO Asia's linear channel. I thought HBO didn't allow anyone to edit/delay their feed until Unifi TV started doing so.

Hbo movies don't have any censor but why unifi tv delay for 15 minutes. need to ask unifi tv.
*
Hmm... Actually, Unifi TV still does their own extra censorship on the HBO main channel. If you compare the Unifi TV one with the Astro one, the Unifi TV version actually censors more swear words than the Astro one. Not all the time, only sometimes.

Fine if Unifi TV is still stubborn wanting to delay its linear channels. But why they delay HBO until 15 minutes though? What else do they wanna censor HBO from? HBO itself is a dedicated Malaysian feed, just as same as Astro.
*
Well, there's an incident a few years ago, where HBO Asia purposely left out an obscene scene in one movie, which caused a lot of complaints on Astro social media page. Astro even asked HBO Asia to clarify their decision. HBO Asia claimed that the scene was necessary for the plot, and it'd alter the entire storyline if it got cut out. Will HBO Asia do the same thing again in the future? That's something that Unifi TV needs to concern about; therefore, we all got the 15 min delay. I know it's annoying, but it's still better than Unifi TV receiving numerous fines to the point they need to close down their pay TV business, right? Anyway, just stream any title uncensored on HBO GO anytime and anywhere you want instead of keep asking them to remove the delay. tongue.gif
