Plantar fasciitis is a painful inflammatory condition caused by excessive wear to the plantar fascia of the foot. The pain usually is felt on the underside of the heel, and is often most intense with the first steps of the day. It is commonly associated with long periods of weight bearing. Obesity, weight gain, jobs that require a lot of walking on hard surfaces, shoes with little or no arch support, and inactivity are also associated with the condition. This condition often results in a heel spur on the calcaneus, in which case it is the underlying condition, and not the spur itself, which produces the pain.

Correct Standing Position
Some people always get low back pain when standing in one position for a long time. When people stand for long periods the muscles that support the body tire and relax. However, when people stand relaxed the lordosis becomes excessive and the low back hangs in an extreme position. This is exactly the opposite position to that adopted by the spine when people sit slouched. It is not possible to stand in this way for long period, as the excessive lordosis is a position of strain. If the low back pain is produced during prolonged standing, relief will be finding by correcting the standing posture.

To stand correctly you must:

* Hold your head up straight with your chin in. Do not tilt your head forward, backward or sideways.
* Make sure your earlobes are in line with the middle of your shoulders.
* Keep your shoulder blades back.
* Keep your chest forward.
* Stretch the top of your head toward the ceiling.
* Keep your knees straight.
* Tuck your stomach in. Do not tilt your pelvis forward or backward.
* The arches in your feet should be supported.
* Avoid standing in the same position for a long time.
* If possible, adjust the height of the worktable to a comfortable level.
* When standing, try to elevate one foot by resting it on a stool or box. After several minutes, switch your foot position.
* While working in the kitchen, open the cabinet under the sink and rest one foot on the inside of the cabinet. Change feet every 5 to 15 minutes.
